I did like Lady Liberty on stilts. She even painted her face green. I thought her presence, by itself, meant more than what anyone had to say. I also appreciated like the idea of collecting food for people in need. That was thoughtful. I even got a free coffee at Dunkin' from the nice young ladies at the counter. I was dressed in my nicest velo gear, but no matter what I do, I tend to look like a homeless person.
Speakers consisted of colonial re-enactor Christopher Black, former US Congressperson Susan Wild, State Rep. Bob Freeman, former TV journalist Melba Tolliver and local community activist Baron Vanderburg.
Without question, our polity (we are a rule by the many, not a strict democracy) is in big trouble. One of its biggest weaknesses is the pernicious influence of money in politics. So guess who spoke the longest? Former Congress member and glorified telemarketer Susan Wild. Over $38 million was spent in her losing bid to remain in Washington last year. That's just obscene. She spent much of her time on the stage Sunday displaying her schadenfreude at Elsie Stefanik. That NY Congress member recently had to abandon her quest to become UN Ambassador so that the GOP could maintain its razor thin majority. Wild was just delighted. But she spent no time at all criticizing how millions of dollars injected into campaigns results in corrupt government officials. You could see that in Wild herself. She, like most members of Congress, spent most of her time on the phone, speaking to deep pockets. As a result, her office had terrible constituent services.

A former TV anchor, who got her big break by crossing a picket line during a strike by broadcasters and writers, also spoke. She's a scab. What better way for Democrats or Democratic Socialists or whatever we call ourselves these days to show our solidarity with the working class. But because she refused to cover her head with a scarf when Tricia Nixon was married, her sins are all forgiven, I guess.
Baron Vanderburg spent his time discussing the five stages of grief he endured after Republicans and Trump prevailed. I'm not exactly sure what that has to do with democracy.
Final, there was a colonial re-enactor, sporting his tri-corner hat and 1776 regalia, harkening us back to the time when only the landed male gentry could vote, and slaves were only 3/5 of a person. I'd rather not be reminded.Wild went on forever, and Panto shouted his remarks. I'm not quite sure why. I decided walk a few blocks back so my eardrums would remain intact, perilously close to a tempting bakery. A passerby was laughing as Panto shrieked. "Now he's talking about the beaches of Normandy," he shook his head.
Were there Trump disruptors? Sure. One fellow kept shouting "Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump" as speakers delivered their obloquies. Another fellow, carrying a Mackenzie sign that he defiantly displayed from time to time, spoke of powerful American women like Aunt Jemima. Stupid comes in all flavors.
Without question, this country is riven and our democracy is slowly but inexorably headed into a dictatorship, much like happened to the Roman Republic. But it's also indisputable that nearly all elected leaders on both sides of the aisle care very little about anything but their own ambition. Instead of walking around in circles or carrying "Impeach Trump" signs, we need to reform what is wrong in our government, including office holders who stay well beyond their expiration date and the corrupting influence of money. That would be a little more meaningful.

Democrats are the party of democracy if you believe that I got a bridge to sell you. the latest look at the local judges they are trying to run the country all of them are democrats. They think they were voted into office by the majority of Americans.
The first thing this country needs is term limits. Then you would have elected officials actually working for the American people. As we saw recently more than 80% of the people in Northampton voted for term limits. State and federal governments need this. As for the Democratic Party, yeah, they are clueless to what the American people want. They are a party full of hate. This wasn’t about democracy, this was about Trump Derangement syndrome. As for Susan Wild, give it up. Your political career is over. She’s a do nothing has been politician.
150-200 people off of their meds and walking aimlessly in circles just about sums up the American liberal.
Throw in a lecture from a woman who blew through 38 million for a failed re-election bid and a babbling race hustler and your protest looks more like a Democrat rally than a sensible event.
But hey…..a millionaire attorney who lives in a mansion on College Hill wants to resist fascism because eating the poor and living lavishly is anti-fascist.
This rally was two pink pussy hat wearing hateful old ladies spewing obscenities away from being the cast for the next Disney movie.
"Without question, this country is riven and our democracy is slowly but inexorably headed into a dictatorship"
Where was the concern about "dictatorship" during the last administration when:
We didn't have a mentally capable President;
Social media were being told by the White House to remove posts that were contrary to government positions;
The federal government colluded with NGO's on the left to label the lawful free speech of American citizens "hate speech" just because it was contrary to their own political ideology and then had that speech censored by the government;
Parents were being targeted by federal law enforcement for comments made at local school board meetings;
A "Disinformation Governance Board" was set up to censor positions that went against government ideology and were supposedly supported by foreign governments?
Where is the curiosity now on the part of the democrats, who were supposedly shocked at Biden's true condition, about who was actually in charge during the previous four years? Not knowing the answer to that question is a greater threat to democracy than anything going on now.
When will those still supporting democrat politicians realize that when those politicians talk about saving "our democracy", they are really talking about maintaining their selfish grip on power? That's "Their Democracy"
Well, this article is a step in the right direction. I’ll be succinct.
Until now, American government has grown too large, too difficult to monitor, and sorely in need of a top-to-bottom inspection and sanitizing. What the DOGE team is doing is critical to this nation’s wellbeing going forward. We should THANK them!
The high level of corruption in both Houses of Congress, our Federal Departments and agencies is not just outrageous, but should be shocking to every citizen. Trillions of our tax dollars have been mishandled, wasted, and even STOLEN due to our inability to identify and eradicate.
When citizens are shown the truth with evidence, they are realizing what the present Administration is attempting is not just necessary, but essential to the futures of our children
We have been, and continue to be misled by previous government administrations and a controlled news media. My goodness, just look at the junk being posted in the Morning Call every day! Certainly, many readers don’t know those pieces to be misleading garbage, making the task at before us more difficult.
We are NOT headed to a dictatorship. If our brilliant Constitution is actually followed, that can’t happen. Unfortunately, we now see even our judicial system running off the rails in certain places.
Patience is required. This process will take time, But, positive results are beginning to appear. That is, if you are given a chance to hear about them.
The purpose of a protest rally is to show the unity of the people. Policy discussions take place in different formats. Also, I never had a problem getting a response when I contacted Susan Wilds office. Someone always got back to me unlike Ryan Mackenzie's office which sends you the exact same form letter no matter what question you ask.
The cancelation of Aunt Jemima, Mrs Butterworth, and Old Uncle Ben were prime examples of wokeism run amok. These scions of industry were iconic, actually they uplifted POC"s by being a shining example of the American dream,
Trump is a woke warrior, an undefeated one and he's just getting started
On a positive note, at least Wild is not running again.
Not buying the narrative. The Democrats just won a special election in freakin Lancaster County last week. They won US Senate seats in 4 states Trump won. If Dems just enforce the border, don't overspend, and keep boys out of girls sports they will win bigly.
Wild is part of the D.C. elite Democratic Leadership that can’t seem to figure out how to fight back. In Wild’s case it’s because she’s a fake, fraud and a phony without any convictions other than she is better than you are. Reject D.C. elites like Sue Wild !
Democrats have no one to blame but themselves: 1) a week candidate they propped up and then replaced with an even weaker one and, 2) the lawfare strategy backfired on them and set a dangerous precedent. You can't blame Trump for going after his enemies like they went after him.
Trump's no saint and I think he's wielding too much power via executive orders and himself setting a dangerous precedent. I agree with the left on that part, yes. Democrats can keep him in check but need to be more focused and organized.
Five stages of grief? Whoa is me! Me me me, all me! A pity party isn't going to work.
Why do you pick on Susan Wild so much ?
There has to be a better way to send a message than trotting out Bob Freeman and Suzy Wild, two of the laziest, most shiftless politicians ever to inhabit human skin. Their public appearance is a pathetic proof-of-life event. Most people I know think Bob Freeman passed away years ago. Thanks for taking one for the team, Bernie. Hope your ride was nice.
I agree with this
We have a serious mental health crisis in our country. Good for you for not indulging their mania. They need tough love as compassionate treatment. Repeating the same nonsense that just lost them a very expensive election is just crazy. Old Sal Panto screaming into the wind is peak 2025 democratic party politics. He should have performed a sock puppet show with charts and graphs.
I honestly don’t know what of any substance Susan Wild accomplished while in office.
I became concerned first few weeks of her first term when she kissed the ring of, even dressed like Nancy Pelosi who is probably one of the worst, most damaging Members of Congress of all time.
Wild was an ‘always vote Democrat’ stooge and nothing more. A trained seal clapping for anything no matter how absurd.
150 nutters walking in circles in a valley with over a million... lol
You must have left before Melba spoke if you thought Susan Wild was the longest.
But an earlier comment had it right. A rally isn't about debating policy, it's about unity and showing numbers and giving people calls to action that happen after the rally.
5:58, Democrats need a few more policy discussions and a few less hypocritical rallies in which they do nothing but expose their own shortcomings.
The time to fix America is NOW! Participate or stay out of the way.
But, where is the new Democrat leadership, Bernie? The Democrats steadfastly remain block headed and suicidal.
7:39, This has nothing to do with picking on her. It has everything to do with the hypocrisy of advocating democracy with a politician who spent an obscene amount of money in a failed effort to get re-elected. It's true that I dislike Wild but am a little more concerned about the direction of this nation and both parties are off the tracks.
I do not understand why our people do not understand the simple logic of 7:03. We need to run away from these 10-20% Positions and simply enforce common sense, while enacting our platform that is being ripped from us, like the environment, supporting the American worker, safety net for those that need it, etc. But instead, we let the far fringe hijack the message from the majority of our party.
7:40, I had a chance to look at some of Easton's new businesses on the bike. They are more of a blur when driving. A ramen shop, sushi shop with bubble drinks and a bakery all on one block. Easton is lookin' better every day. It was a little chilly and windy, but I love riding when I can.
7:03, I get your point, but Trump is actually more popular now than he was eight years ago. That should tell us all something is wrong. He has reached the working class and even minorities while we have failed them bc we have been too caught up in nonsense.
Why is Susan Wild in Northampton county way out of her former territory? Who cares what this LOSER HAS TO SAY, SHE LOST, now go away and stop meddling in NORCO politics, you had nothing to say in the campaign and you have nothing to say now please just shut up and retire already, you are the problem with the Democratic Party why can’t you open your eyes when you look in the mirror?
How did hear about the rally?
There is nothing wrong with holding to an AMERICA FIRST mindset. Nor, working to make sure we stay that way. This is the basic common sense we all should seek.
It’s important to remember that Trump and his band of Roy Cohen inspired lawyers and advisors have spent years devising the 2025 plan. Right now they are throwing everything at the wall all at once and we are dependent on the courts to spend their time sorting it out. Thankfully, most of these executive orders are illegal and competent, courageous judges will uphold our laws. Government needed to be trimmed, not chain-sawed. Removing veteran’s services is a hateful act. Paying voters is a cynical act by a man who has no loyalty to this country. I’ve had enough of Musk. He may be the richest man in the world, but he’s not the smartest.
8:56, It was all over Facebook and at LVNews
8:57, There's a big difference between America First and America Only. Not much common sense in embracing our adversaries and alienating our friends.
THINK? Trump has 4 years to figure this mess out. Why can't the DEMS figure this out. It's starting to work and I feel the country will be better off if we join forces and look at the big picture 4 years for Trump DRILL BABY DRILL
Nobody is cutting SS, Medicaid, Medicare, or Veterans Administration services. That's the old scare tactic playbook of those who were fine with all the waste and fraud that stole money from these departments - until now. Chainsaw? Get a clue. Only 0.15% of the federal workforce has been fired. That's fifteen hundredths of one frickin' percent. Calm down, Karen. And stop defending the status quo of waste and fraud and outright theft. Veterans and the elderly and the needy have been getting robbed. Defending the robbers won't win any elections. Catching the robbers is extraordinarily popular according to even traditionally left-leaning polling (CBS, CNN, etc.).
Yes. The vast majority of government positions eliminated were either temporary, probationary hires or voluntary resignations. The severance package was for 8 months of full pay, no loss of government seniority rights if rehired, etc. Thousands of people jumped all over that deal. Some even claimed they no longer wanted to commute and spend any more time in that sh*thole city of Washington. DC.
The weekend protests averaged about 150 marchers, wherever they were held. Many cities saw fewer than a couple dozen. This is what happens when USAID money gets tight. What you described was a very small patch of Astroturf. More are planned for April 6. They'll be laughed at, as well. Only 0.15% of a bloated fed workforce has been fired. They weren't showing up anyway. Get a grip.
Sue Wild is an elitist who parks in handicap spaces. She currently is meddling in the Norco Exec race where her true political weaknesses will be exposed.
I was elk hunting in Wyoming two years ago and there was a state representative in camp and I said that we need term limits and his reply was "isn't Elections term limits? Typical answer from a politician
Democracy will win when Trump gets another term.
A scary group but apparently not as high level as those who took over a church to preach hate in Bethlehem recently. I'll bet that Episcopal priest is in deep doodoo for that hate rally. Resist, resist resist. Fight, fight, fight. Curse, curse, curse. All during the season of Lent. Wow! Apparently no one fears God in the Democrat party anymore.
Trump isn’t undefeated he lost to Joe Biden whom history will judge a much better President. Musk runs the country Trump runs his mouth
I have seen NO evidence Trump is looking to be America Only. As for friends and adversaries, both need to be a 2 way street. If not, the definition will and must change. At least that’s the way I live my life.
I highly doubt Trump would even want another term. But, for all Americans to win his policies probably should be continued. They are logical and working (especially so for longer term success). Imagine this crop of wacky Democrats reversing everything.
The term Trump deserves is a prison term which I hope he gets when he leaves DC
The Dems have no message or leader and only care about holding on to power!
yes term limits are at the ballot box that is the answer
I was glad to see a demonstration to protest Mr trump and his policies. I am glad to see it was peaceful. They did not storm a federal building or injure police. That would be what criminals do.
Dangerous! Mob politics guided by no other purpose than hate. No Tesla to burn. Let’s lynch someone. This was a stupid activity for elected officials to participate . Its peaceful appearance could be upset at any moment. It only takes a couple crazies. Why do you think January 6 turned into a violent party. This public meeting wasn’t a demonstration. It was to accomplish nothing but to fuel hate.
Veteran services have already been cut. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/30/us/doge-iraq-veteran-fired.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
Republican politicians talk about how much they hate DC, then they spend millions of donor dollars to go there. Some never leave. They become lobbyists after leaving office.
It didn’t work last time.
Nonsense. No matter what you think of Wild, Northampton County was in her district.
You are gullible. Go pick up The Epoch Times.
1:10 PM Another clown that thinks Biden was great. How did they do in November???
I often hear about how term limits could make a huge difference but then I wonder about some who serve that might be doing a great job. Should constituents of a person running for office for the 3rd or 4th time be denied someone who may be doing an awesome job? Roosevelt may have been hated by some but the majority of Americans liked his ideas of social security and how he dealt with WWII.
Money in politics however has become the true evil in our political system. There should be a limitation for how much candidates receive from individuals as well as corporations. Although I have always believed in the freedom of speech, I also believe there should be not only a limit to time and money spent for mass media for elections, but also, as in England, no negative advertising about an opponent. If a candidate has a good idea; Great! Let's hear it! Unfortunately it has been proven that people are influenced more by negative advertising than positive. And so we end up with mud slinging and false claims toward opponents. Just as we try to keep our 2nd amendment rights without letting dangerous criminals have firearms maybe we should make adjustments to allowable media time or the length of the campaigning season. Not sure exactly how this can be accomplished but currently it seems campaigning starts the day after the election for the next one. If it means we must make some reasonable adjustments to our free speech rights it would be worth it over having corporations pick our leaders for us with truck loads of cash.
In a perfect world having candidates simply post their plans which people could read and decide which one would be better for them would be ideal. Sadly, don't see that happening anytime soon.
Trump is king and god…
State one, just one real and very large case of fraud that has been made transparent from musk or his tykes?
1;24 you sound like a Moron one of those left wing judges.
Love it, that should be their new motto," Democrat Party walking in circles for you". Older dems tell me time and again that it has come off the rails. Look at some of the recent dem elected officials. I was told that one of them worked with McClure to get free Feminine sanitary napkins put in all county facilities including parks. She was quoted as saying," Men have toilet paper, women deserve th same respect" I always thought women used toilet paper as well as men.
Now they have Zirinski and Seigal running for county executives. Those two airheads will control the Lehigh Valley?
551 speaks the facts. That's why President Trump is in office. That's a fact
You need to stop picking on Sue Wild. Did she not help serve FedEd up ? Weren’t you all over that ?
Those of you complaining about Trump trimming the fat on wasteful government spending should check the amount $ that Biden has spent to accommodate the 12 million illegal immigrants that he and his Democrat cabal have allowed to stream into this country.
Enemies of America are deeply entrenched within the Democrat Party. That they proudly show their faces at public demonstrations shows they have no shame or self respect.
As a former Democrat I agree wholeheartedly with this post. The party is off the rails. Guys like Mark Penn and Carville understand what’s going on. They’ll win a couple of special elections like today and think all is well, it’s not. Fetterman is right, the democrats brand is trash right now.
Stefanick is smarter than Wild when she’s sleeping. I wish Susan would just go away.
Money in politics is a problem, however, Kamala spent 1.5 billion, 500 million more than Trump! It just proves money can’t cover up a really bad candidate.
7:32, This post is not really about how great Trump is or how lousy Biden is or whether Dems are enemies of America, as you divisively claim. It is actually a post for my fellow Dems and what we are doing wrong. I think we know what you're doing wrong.
From what we are seeing and reading about right NOW, it certainly appears Trump was absolutely the better option last election. So, why all the fuss? America made the right choice. Next time, who knows?
When The NY Times editorial board says the democrat party is in trouble and to far left, you got big problems:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/ny-times-editorial-declares-democratic-162012787.html
Geesh how many times have you contacted you Congressperson lol. You must be a pain in the ass.
I agree with 7:03, however, right now the most popular people in the party are AOC, Bernie Sanders, and Jasmine Crockett who’s a real class act. It’s easier said than done because they won’t let go of the failed policies. The far left runs the party now. Fetterman is trying to push it back to the middle.
