Mail-in Ballots Down but Voting at Courthouse Surges

On Thursday, NorCo Exec Lamont McClure told County Council that there were 67,996 requests for mail-in ballots (MIBs). He also said that approximately 3,700 voters voted at the courthouse through a mechanism called Ballot on Demand (BOD). This gives voters a chance to request, receive and cast what is in effect a MIB at the elections office. An additional 641 people voted by BOD on Friday.

According to elections officials in Bucks County, where people have been waiting about an hour to cast a MIB at the courthouse, it takes about 12 minutes to process each person.

Tuesday is the last day you can apply for a MIB or vote via BOD at the courthouse.

The number of people seeking MIBs in NorCo is down from what they were four years ago, when the county received and counted nearly 74,000 MIBs. According to Inky, this is a statewide trend. Some argue that there were more MIBs four years ago because of COVID. According to a Harvard poll, nearly half of young voters (under 30) plan to vote in person.

I smell a rat! Something's rotten in Denmark!

COVID absolutely pushed the MIB totals higher, but it is still a convenient and useful way to perform your civic duty if getting to the polls on a Tuesday in November is difficult or impossible.

We received our ballots by mail and dropped at a secure drop box over the weekend. I love voting this way, much preferred to standing in any line or even going to the polls on election day. We have voted in the past at the Courthouse and it was a positive experience. I was pleased that we had to present photo ID to vote at the Courthouse. We are hopeful that our chosen candidates prevail but so is everyone else who takes the time vote...

I really don't care who you vote for as your beliefs don't hurt me. It is important though to vote. Make the electeds at least work for our affection during the election.

Bernie all the democrats can do is call names and lie Explain to us bloggers why they do not talk about policies? Unless you run a fake blog.

@10:19 that you typed that out and don't recognize the hypocrisy of it says a lot about our political discourse right now. Regardless of who you vote for and whoever wins this election, it will not change the fact that this country is fairly evenly divided despite what each side says and believes. Sadly either Harris or Trump will pretend that they've received some massive national mandate to enact unpopular and even painful policies for half the population. We are a nation of idiots to put up with this.

I think republicans are finally catching on to early voting but still lack trust. Perhaps many are voting early at the courthouse instead of mail in.

Trump and Vance will take it. Guess that means good bye to Casey and Wild!

I went to the courthouse @ 1430 hours this date to vote. Voting takes place on the Lower Level of the courthouse for those who are unaware. The hallway was packed both sides as far as the eye could see. I was told the voting process would take about an hour. During the short time I was there the line did not move. Additionally there was one elderly gentleman handing out clipboards with what looked like a single sheet of paper although I could not determine its purpose. He stated that if you wanted to vote you needed to see him first, he looked overwhelmed. I determined voting would take more than an hour, thus I left without voting. I'm not sure the process could be improved without a larger dedicated voting location worthy of the volume of people who intended to vote. I'll be voting early on Election Day.

Glad that PA is offering different options to vote to all! But whoever wins should accept the results! Not if I win, fine, but if my opponent wins, it’s rigged!
