DA Jim Martin Acted Fairly in Offering ARD to Ce-Ce Gerlach

Remember Allentown City Council member Ce-Ce Gerlach? Last year, she was busily knocking on doors in a Quixotic Quest to become Mayor. Between Facebook live shots of a suicide aftermath and several "Fuck the police" rallies, she showed us exactly what kind of person she would be at Allentown's helm. A runaway teen came to her in her capacity as a Valley Youth House intake worker. Instead of actually assisting this child, Gerlach took it upon herself to dump him off at a tent city for the homeless. Fresh meat! This boy was sexually harassed (or worse) until his rescue.  Despite attempts by her fans to brush things under the rug and radio silence at The Morning Call, she was eventually charged with both child endangerment and failure to report. Gerlach denied any wrongdoing, claimed she was the victim of political persecution and set up a GoFundMe page seeking $100,000 for an attorney.   But when push came to shove, she waived her preliminary hearing and applied for ARD. Her so-called political persecutor agreed, dropped one of the charges and she's been approved by the court. That's pretty strange action for a politically motivated prosecution.

The reality, of course, is that Lehigh County DA Jim Martin treated Gerlach fairly. She was prosecuted because she clearly broke the law, not for her political beliefs. Moreover, he treated her the same way that any nonpolitician would be treated. Like shit, That's how he rolls. There's still some question whether Valley Youth House also broke the law, but I'm certain that's being looked at as well.

Some of my friends believe Gerlach should have been forced to resign as a condition of ARD. I disagree. If the people who vote her into office are stupid enough to repeat that mistake, then they will get the government they deserve.

Unapologetic, Gerlach has thrown herself into a number of state races. I hear she's pushing Tara Zrinskli, Josh Siegel and Enid Santiago. Candidates who use her should suffer the consequences.

Okay, however you took her to task.

I live in Allentown. I'm not a fan of CeCe, she seemed to get an appropriate punishment. I don't think she the smartest person in city government. There is something sad about her, I think she tries her best. I wish Pawlowski stayed in the Midwest, and stayedaway from Allentown. All the best to the Allentown as you move forward. I'm moving out of Allentown, not a bad city, just no longer my city. Miss the old downtown buildings. I think the young people will make it an All American city again. (Five- ten more years.) Peace

Oh my. Somehow, she will make herself the victim and blame this on something or someone. As to her helping Seigel and Zrinski, well birds of a feather as they say. Not one of the three belong in office to begin with and certainly not at the state or federal level. They are self-promoting bobble heads that only feed their own narcissism.

I have been told they're the face of the new democrat party. Whatever happened to the levelheaded blue collar dems of yore? The party faithful wonder why they will get shellacked at the polls, well this is your answer.

Remember when AOC said her public tormenters just wanted to date her? Remember, Bernie?

Correct me if I am wrong but was not part of her rationalization her poor training by her employer? At times, she is called a social worker. To me that designation means she has a master's level education and often is licensed. Certainly, a social worker would have no defense for their actions. Besides even the "lowly" aide in a nursing home receives regular training on need to report for vulnerable persons in their care. I sure would not have wanted to supervise her. Her employer probably never addressed her deficiencies in her work because she is such a loose cannon. I leave you with one more aphorism. "If water seeks its own level", what does that say about her fellow government buddies and the voters.

Do you mean Pawlowski is back?

Agree or disagree with her, whether or not she's guilty or not... This is the best picture you could find of her? You use better pictures of Steve Lynch...

I know it's somewhat off topic, but any update on the other local criminal Tricia Mezzacappa? She has to be be released from prison soon, if not already? If she's still incarcerated, that's sad, but entirely her own fault.

Funny thing about Ms. Santiago. Think she has a good chance this year to win but she's got to go door-to-door. Many voters are looking for someone new.

Bernie - From your post: "Last year, she was busily knocking on doors in a Quixotic Quest to become Mayor."

No fan of Gerlach, but "Quixotic Quest"? She received about 23.5% of the democrat primary vote. The winner (Tuerk) was at about 26.6%. That's pretty close and not what I'd call "Quixotic".

Never underestimate the stupidity of Allentown democrat voters.

Heck, they even elected Pawlowski when he was awaiting trial for corruption charges.

I think Ed Disgrace is her assistant on these campaigns. Great group of people.

12:39 -

Since you're moving, I'm curious as to your political affiliation - are you a Republican or a Democrat?

The reason I ask is that I often wonder as to why so many democrats leave Allentown and the one-party utopia that their politicians have created.

Where are you moving to?

Bernie Fraud in Lehigh County in 2020 but Martin will not prosecute--This happened all over the country--Trump was right--the election was rigged by the media and fraud all over the country.

Hey, that's what Team Zrinski is hoping. Stupidity is her best friend.

@10:31 never underestimated the stupidity of the American voter. This is not just a Democrat problem. There are equal pathetic loser on both sides.

Has there ever been a no confidence choice allowed on a ballot. I believe that in all elections there should be a no-confidence choice that runs against all other candidates by position. And the no-confidence only has to get 15% of the vote for both candidates to be thrown out a not be able to run for office of any type ever again.

@8:52 but Stevie posts hundreds and hundreds of his bluffness and styled hair so it is so hard to find a bad one.

What *is* it with Allentown's tolerance for child abusers?

Lt. Gov candidate Brian Sims terribly abused three little girls by offering money to strangers on the internet to publish their names and home addresses in order to terrorize them and their families in retaliation for their participation in a peaceful demonstration.

Then Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk took child abuser Sims door-to-door throughout Allentown to homes with children without forewarning or obtaining consent from their unsuspecting parents, many of whom would never have allowed Sims anywhere near their children.

The amazing thing is that the leftist fringe in Allentown gets enraged if you bring that up, and Tuerk, emboldened by that, has refused to man-up and apologize.

The Blog Mentor says Jim Martin fabricated the whole thing, so that must be true.

Seriously, is that nut still after you?

"Bernie Fraud in Lehigh County in 2020 but Martin will not prosecute--"

Look, when a husband drops off his wife's ballot, that's not voter fraud. It is contrary to the Elections Code but is far from fraud. When someone drops off multiple ballots, the situation changes.

" This is the best picture you could find of her? "

Is there some reason why I should scour the Internet to fund a better pic? Wouldn't that be just as much evidence of bias as posting one that shows her exactly as she looks?

Yeah, that's great, but the problem is that it isn't allowed and nobody could tell you how many ballots were dropped off by spouses and how many weren't. The point is we don't know, and there's no way of knowing unless you enforce and tighten up the system. One of the reasons you're supposed to drop off your own ballot is so that you don't have these type of questions about whether your elections are run fairly.

Right now it's like we're running a store, putting the cash we receive in an open shoebox in the middle of the store and saying that we know there's no theft because it still has some money in it.

No sane person would run their business like that, so you put multiple controls in place to make sure that everything gets rung up and what goes in the register stays there.

Why is it that when it comes to voting, we have to accept all kinds of hypothetical excuses to justify a crappy, fraud-welcoming system that the losing side will always question?

How many races could the excess drop box votes found just at the Lehigh County Government Center could have had the outcome changed if there was fraud? I'd say many, including a county judge race that still hasn't been settled after 6 months.

And that was only one of five drop-boxes in the county.

All voters should have confidence that the system is fair. Right now, we don't have that and we can't continue to ignore obvious problems like this.

Fraud Trump was right now we have Biden now that is a corrupt family.

This is the 16th result when you Google her image - I just gave it a whirl. So you 'scoured the internet' to find a worse picture actually. Instead of defending your bias, perhaps trying reflecting when it's called out. You've stated a number of times that you are aware of it, be willing to work on it.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Um, I used the picture I had. Like I said, I am not going to scour the Internet to see if there is one flattering picture, which I doubt can be produced. Nor do I think it would be honest. This is what she looks like. Deal with it.

For the LVR suggestion box:

I'd like to see a new blog policy of only publishing mugshots for public officials who have one in their record. Regardless of the topic, if you're a public official and you've posed for a mugshot, that will be the only photo of you that is posted here. It wouldn't be so much a scarlet letter, as it would be a friendly reminder. Please consider this suggestion. Thank you.

Hey Bernie I think it's pretty ironic on Gerlach's defense that she was not "properly trained". She initially outright lied and said the victim (a juvenile) advised her that he was an adult. When that did not fly "she was not trained properly"

Please anyone with common sense would not have dropped off a juvenile at a homeless crime infested outside camp. My God, she was running for mayor. I do agree that DA Martin treated her fairly, even though she loudly claimed political motivation for her arrest.

I hope that DA Martin is still looking into the Harrington's, because there was more to this than Me Me Gerlach getting arrested and charged. When I see the words politically motivated, the Harrington's faces (Kathy, Tom, and David) appear. Maybe Harrington should step down from his six figure Valley Youth House position, because he obviously has no control on "improper training" of his subordinates.

I sure hope the victim files a hefty civil lawsuit against Harrington because employees who are not properly trained should fall on his shoulders.

BO, 9:17 has a point. I searched your blog and found 2 pictures of her from previous posts. Your reasoning makes you look petty and distracts from the message. It's just my opinion and it certainly differs from yours.

But I think she look cute, yo.

This story involves the abuse of a child. When all you can focus on is whether I could have used a more flattering picture, you clearly have little regard for our children. Just like Gerlach. And no, I refuse to use only officially sanctioned headshots of political figures. I used the picture I had and am not going to waste valuable time trying to make her look prettier.

Bernie there is an obvious pattern of degradation and targeting of strong BIPOC community activists; Ce-Ce, Enid, RMM, Justan, Kerry, and many Caucasian allies like Tara, and Josh "The Boss" Siegel.

Check your privilege's boomers who are self admitted racists' have no place in the media even if it is bottom feeding muck raking yellow tinged opinion pieces not suitable for anyone but the least woke among us.

Van A Scott Sr said...

Woke Bloke - "Degrading and targeting community activists" Please...

Instead of addressing the main issue like CeCe purposely dropping off a juvenile at a homeless camp and subjecting him to sexual and mental abuse, you argue a her arrest was degrading and targeting of community activists, and whomever feels strongly what she did was ethically and morally wrong, we are racists.

Maybe if the victim was your child you would have a different view. CeCe's actions had nothing to do with degrading or targeting, and her arrest had nothing to do with politics. Thank God this was addressed before the November 2nd election !!!
