Will Fleck Be Called in Fed Ed Trial?

Most of the evidence in the political corruption case against Allentown Mayor Edwin "Fed Ed" Pawlowski has been pretty solid. It's a bit weaker against Attorney Scott Allinson, but I'm not sure the "My client is a drunk" defense is playing very well with the jury. Sam Ruchlewicz was the one disaster. Defense Attorney Jack McMahon had a field day with him. This may have made the feds reluctant to call the other admitted liar, Mike Fleck, to the stand. The theory is that they can rely on wiretaps and recordings without exposing Fleck to McMahon.

This would be a mistake. First, McMahon can simply call Fleck as a witness himself. Second, McMahon could argue, "Where's Fleck?," as the case continues. Third, Fleck is no Ruchlewicz.

he hinted around about that possibility when Celeste Dee, a former Flack employee who is actually a victim in this matter, was called to testify. In response to questioning by McMahon, Dee said no one was closer to Fed Ed than Fleck.

"So he would be the best one to tell this jury what really happened," suggested McMahon. This statement resulted in objections.

McMahon is laying the foundation to attack the government for failing to present the witnesses against Fed Ed.

Though Fleck can be attacked on the stand for his dishonesty, he has admitted tohis criminal behavior and can tell the jury that, unlike Ruchlewicz, he is payng a price. Alos, despite his shortcomings, fleck is a very likable person who could help win the jury over.

Fleck, Ruchlewicz and Hickey will all end up nm jail. They loved the game but it eventually caught up with them. So much for being self-described smart guys.

Sounds like she threw Fleck under the bus.

The silent voices in the courtroom are the ones of people who have had their lives destroyed in one way or another by this gang of thrives and their leigion of thugs.

Let’s pretend Dee was an innocent.

This as all because deep pocket vendors just like giving money to candidates, some they do not even know, because it warms their heart. Interesting how many of the same donors show up on other campaign finance reports. Now I am little too busy.... "I have to take the kids to school".

If you sit thru a meeting and you hear we're setting up the major, even if you think its a joke. What do you do? Run and tell the Mayor who's a friend and a client? Quit the company and find a new Job maybe with the WS group Flecks former partners? Anonymous 5:27 is right. Let's pretend Dee's innocent

don't think Ruchlewicz will get charged.

also don't think hickey ever described himself as a "smart guy"

Well "Whispers Ed" might think he is gonna walk and be acquitted but how do you explain the behavior of toss phones? sweeping for bugs and potty counseling sessions? If it looks like the tella tubby.... he might be the tella tubby.. just without the purple handle on his bald head...they might make some points with the witness being scum but ed's own words and behavior? NO way he is a roaster... butterball at that

Just can't imagine Pawlowski will get off without being convicted of something. There's just way too much on the table for the jury to pick from. it's a "bad behavior buffet."

I have been following this case since the beginning and closely throughout the trial. Starting with Day 1 of the trial I had the mind frame 100% innocent until proven guilty; despite any preconceived notions I had from the two year news and blog reports.

If I was on the jury and had a vote as of today, I'd acquit Scott Allison and convict Ed Pawlowski. Ed: start negotiating a guilty plea for the sake of yourself and your family.

I’m waiting for some of Ed’s goon squad inspectors and code enforcement thugs to get their just due.
It’s been a reign of terror.
Dozens are complicit.

"also don't think hickey ever described himself as a "smart guy""

He has never done that in the years I've known him, but is one of the smartest people I've ever met. He is a terrible judge of character, which is why I get away with being his friend.

Celese Dee was so victimized by Flecks actions that she moved into the house he left 3 days after mike skipped town. I can't be 100 percent on that, but it would be interesting to validate. I wonder if she's still there?

It will be interesting if they call Mike Fleck as a witness. McMahonon already pledged to put the Mayor on the stand and perhaps the prosecutor thinks it will be better to cross the Mayor with incriminating tapes and have him explain his words and actions then put Mike on as a witness. It seems that they have enough evidence to survive a motion to dismiss and get the case to the jury. I am not sure declaring that the Mayor will testify was great strategy because you can not walk it back now.

Celeste Dee is Mike Fleck’s wife.

Celeste Dee is Mike Flecks wife. How does no one know this?!

Anonymous said...

12:09: No, Celeste Dee is not Mike's wife. Alison Hansbury Fleck is Mike's wife.

Celeste is NOT Mike Fleck's wife, and your comment betrays a willingness to engage in the very kind of behavior that got Fleck and Fed Ed in trouble. You lie.

The ugly and anonymous Celeste remarks come from people who want her clients.

The wife comment was obviously sarcasm. Both Dee and her husband worked fro Fleck and knew nothing of any of this? Fair question. When things went south, the husband landed a job with a Fleck client, so... The Fleck company was not IBM so it is hard to believe all did not know what was going on. If you cannot be objective you should not draw emotional conclusions.

Bernie O'Hare said...

No it was obviously the comment of someone who does not like her and is a competitor

You seem to have a man crush on fellow Irish-American blowhard McMahon! But Pawlowski is lucky to have him. He's a pit bull in the courtroom.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Far from it. My assessment of him was fairly harsh in two of three NC cases. It’s called being honest. Try it some time.

The great injustice here is that Lisa Pawlowski isn’t in the docket.

ROFLMAO!!!!!

Bernie O'Hare said...

Doc Roc, do you have any evidence to contradict what I say, which is based on numerous interactions? You saw him once, but have not dealt with him. Whether he is a crook or a blowhard is besides the point. He is likable when he wants to be and is nothing like Ruchlewicz.

Doc Rock said...

"He is likable when he wants to be..."

Perhaps when he's not a "blowhard crook."

Which is, like, never.

All these political consultants end up this way. Solomon and Hickey, both will end up in jail. Hickey and Fleck, same, Some others will probably go as well.

Seems like their life cycle. The fast and loose life.

OT, but don't you think the proposed new congressional district map (Lehigh, Norco & Carbon) looks good for JM's campaign?

Bernie O'Hare said...

Very good and let’s stay on topic.

Bernie what do you want more, a Pawlowski guilty verdict or a Trump red square military parade?

Anonymous said...

I'm not a lawyer, if he doesn't there is a good chnce Mr Mayor skates

How is it possible for a juror to believe a word they are hearing, it's basically criminals testifying against other criminals.

Will the state be calling even one person of integrity? If not, short of a paycheck, what's the point?
