NorCo Council Asks Tough Questions in First Committee Meetings

I'd be tempted to believe that NorCo Exec Tara Zrinski would have an easy time with NorCo Council. After November's election, there's only one Republican left. But after yesterday's Personnel and Finance Committee meetings, I'd say that Zrinski is going to have to do a good job of justifying what she wants to do or she's going to run into trouble. Yesterday, she presented a proposal to switch around two of the political appointments allotted to the Executive branch for a communications director and an inmate re-entry specialist. Council was confused because she failed to make clear at the onset that these are political appointments permitted under the Home Rule Charter.

Zrinski was also peppered with questions about whether there was money in the budget for these appointments (Dave Holland) and was asked for detailed descriptions of the jobs (Jason Boulette).

County Council was respectful and it's clear they want her to succeed. But they are providing oversight instead of a rubber stamp.

And that's a positive sign.

Hey wasn't Kenny little position over at the jail a political appointed position????? And talk about being a hypocrite wasn't the direction of corrections under the orders of Lamont getting Kenny a full step raise after one year?

If there are five automatons that bob their vacuous heads yes on every voting item, a few tough questions from the few who think are meaningless and of no threat to Tzara the Terrrible's agenda.

With LVH in the minority and without her flying monkeys there to be obstinate, the county will be able to do great things. Looking forward to Zrinski getting things done with the support of the Council.

Thank God there's a handful who won't just be rubberstamps

Proof already that Tara (and apparently those who advise her) truly have no clue. It would be great if those newly elected to council would question her moves and motives. Unfortunately, they also are not well informed (that's what happens when you elect mostly a new slate). They'll just be figuring things out by the end of their terms. I can't imagine them completing them because the shiny object of being a councilperson will dim rapidly.

Not good at all. This is the best we could do for Northampton County? If council approves the "specialist" position, they ARE rubber-stamping. Watching Tara's "performance" was uncomfortable to watch. She appeared to have no clue about anything, just filling space with storytelling like she's hanging with her buddies. Council should table this decision until the Executive can better articulate this position and actually think through a reasonable plan regarding funding the position, supervision, and location of said position. That's just a start. Those basics weren't even communicated.

Tara Z is all about advancing the political ambitions of Tara Z.
You are willfully ignorant.

Wow. Many of us knew she was in over her head. We didn't know she was completely stupid. Maybe someone will s-l-o-w-l-y read the county charter to her, and explain it even more s--l--o--w--l--y. This is county government, not special olympics. Be better Tara. Make an effort.

Hey, now...leave the monkeys out of this

She's incompetent, and always on the lookout for her next gig. You can thank John Cusick & Lamont- they both had a hand in this nightmare.

It pains me to watch Tara speak, since she lacks confidence and is prone to word salads.

There is little or nothing in Tara’s past to indicate that she has either the experience or the intelligence to manage something as complex as Northampton Co.

yes it was appointed, so what?

They all belong to the same club. Dumb and dumber. The council clowns will alway approve /cover for her. They are all sharp as marbles.

Just listen to her. She proves she’s not qualified for this job. The county is screwed big time. Now suffer.
