UPDATED: Easton Area Attorney Stan Margle Faces New Drug Charges

According to the Pa. online docket sheet, Easton-area attorney Stan Margle is facing new drug charges. He's been charged by Bethlehem Tp Investigator Ed Fox with possession or use of drug paraphernalia stemming from an incident on July 23. Charges were filed on August 5, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Dan Corpora on September 9.

As I told you back in February, Margle already faces charges of possession of both controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.  He was charged with these drug offenses after he left juvenile court but forgot his bag.  In an attempt to determine the owner, Sheriff Deputies opened the bag and discovered that it belonged to Margle. They also discovered what was later determined to be cocaine, along with the paraphernalia facilitating its use. There was also video surveillance showing Margle bringing a satchel into Juvenile Court and then leaving without it. He later returned for the bag, only to discover it had been turned over to county detectives.

Criminal court for the earlier charges is set for August 26.

I will update this post if I can learn additional details.

UPDATED 8/7/25, 11 AM: Lehigh Valley Live reports more details. Believe it or not, he's accused of leaving yet another bag in a court facility. And of course, he is claiming he was set up.

Perhaps it is time Stan winds down his career and begins to focus on living a clean life. He escaped a DUI charge, is considered by many to be the owner of the drugs found in Courtroom One, has these two charges, and a girlfriend (current?) who enjoys illicit drugs. Stan has received far too much professional courtesy and it is now time for him to be punished. If the court goes light on him, it is not going to help him understand the seriousness of his alleged crime. Stan is an egomaniac and if he skates, no lesson will be learned.

Northampton County has one of the most corrupt, willfully blind benches I have ever seen (and I have seen many) and it will be interesting to see if this second Margle incident will force them to treat him like they would any other citizen finding themself in the same predicament. I won't hold my breath.

So now what Wilson Boro? I'm innocent until proven guilty !!!!

Time to lock him up.

Drug treatment, prison is not going to help him!

Baratta will seek serious probation and a painful fine in the tens of dollars. He's tough on crime guy, dontcha you know.

Anon 7:23. He fits in perfect with Wilson

8:38 pm: I know your tongue was firmly in cheek, but Baratta is a waste. I saw a picture (wish I could show it) on FB that has a picture from National Night Out. The table covering is a banner promoting the DA’s office, but below that is his name in HUGE letters. Did he want the job to better the community or stroke his massive ego? I’m going with the latter of the two.

I believe Margle is being treated no differently than any other Defendant, and I would love to hear you explain how the court has been corrupted or blind in this matter. I do not see it or I would have said it.

The magistrate originally did not set bail even unsecured. And it was reported in your past post that he’s not forced to random screenings like other defendants are.

Why have they not suspended his license? This man has been getting away with no repercussions. What is with the ignorance of those around him to make getting help his only option to continue to practice?

It’s not a simple drug possession case. This guy brought them INTO THE COURTHOUSE. Not only once but twice that we know definitely. I am more than positive he was the attorney who dropped them in the jury box but we will just continue to cover that up. If he was another other person I feel like there would be charges covering the fact that he BROUGHT THEM INTO A COURTHOUSE! He is, and will continue, to get special treatment. Maybe given 2 ARDs which is a courtesy never offered to “regular people”.

The treatment won’t stick with this guy.

Give him drug treatment...in prison. If he doesn't serve SOME time this is a joke and the rule of law does not exist.

We only know of one occasion fir sure in which he brought drugs into a courthouse, so you are incorrect. I see no difference between how he or anyone is treated, and you made an outrageous accusation you are unable to back up.

That is up to the state disciplinary board,.

Bernie @9:20 am, you alluded to the drugs in the jury box (now there is a book title) being Stan’s. I also heard this second arrest was due to Stan having drugs with him again. Obviously, he has a major problem.

I never reported that Margle has no obligation to undergo drug screening, I do not know whether that is a condition of his bail, but agree it is a good idea and probably is. Also, Margle waived his preliminary hearing, so bail was set when he appeared in court. You could argue that more serious charges should have been lodged bc drugs were brought into a facility that houses children, but that is not up to the courts and I think those charges would make the case more difficult.

9:28, Yes, it is my opinion that they were his, but I am not a jury and he was never charged. A charging decision is made by the DA's office and not the courts. And my understanding is that video was inconclusive concerning the jury box incident. I agree he obviously has a problem and has now basically ruined any hope of getting ARD.

He is clearly a drug addict I’m desperate need of treatment.

He’s dating a new married client. Hope he doesn’t represent her in child custody!

Let's start checking some of their Council members out and other officials
Something is awful fishy with the Dixie person and council members and Solicitor. Must all be in bed together. It sure does smell fishy

Mr. O’hare, I have seen the special treatment Mr. Margle receives from the courthouse first hand. I am currently involved in family court matter on the opposing side. First off I know Stan for many, many, many years, I have personally worked on a few of his cases as an investigator. I had family retain his service, I also retained him to review legal issues for myself. Stan has not one ethical bone in his body. He chose to represent my soon to be ex wife with not one care about how much of a conflict it is.

He has filed petitions and had delivered service not even 18 hours before the court case and the courts went on with the case, even though rules stated notice must be given 3 days before the listed court date. Continuances were argued for, “time was needed to prepare” all arguments “Denied” and court session proceeded. Again we know each other very well, he called me names, provokes me, has made laughing faces at me while he was questioning me on the stand, all in court and nothing is done to him.

He holds a sworn in position, he took an oath to follow the law. He is an advocate, he has people’s lives and futures in his hands. He should be held to a much higher standard. Anyone that watches him in a court room knows he has issues, it is very visible. The guy needs help, he needs it bad. The only way is to force it on him if he wants to continue his law profession, because right now I know first hand his mind is on the drugs and not his clients. Believe me between what he gets away with in court and him personally a book can be written about unethical proceedings.

Barretta doesn’t seem too concerned with cocaine usage here

He was my ex-wife's lawyer. I love this guy. He was such a bumbling boob I ended way ahead of where I should have been. Thanks Toot Head Stan

Will there be any recourse for the hundreds of clients that were victimized by Stan who clearly prioritized drugs over his responsibilities as a lawyer? Where is the BAR association on this one as he continues to practice to this day. This is disgusting.

Charged with drug paraphernalia not drugs possession

Stan I know your reading this, please do as I instructed and keister all your goodies from now on it will not be a problem if you wrap them up in a condom and use proper lubrication for insertion and retrival good luck brother

Jail first “forced remission” then a long term inpatient program.

So the deputies knew ahead of time he was going to leave another carry-all behind, and were prepared to deposit fraudulent evidence in it to frame him? Sounds highly unlikely. Seems like he is no longer a first time offender.
