Did Warren Invite Nazareth Food Bank For Presentation To Advance His Own Political Ambitions?

Nancy Madara, President of the Nazareth Food Bank, was joined by Secretary Terry Herbster to explain how the food bank operates in the Nazareth area during a presentation to NorCo's Economic Development Committee last week. It serves approximately 230 families who live within the Nazareth Area School District. Nonresidents will be proved food once and will be referred to other food banks where they live. It is supported by donations from individuals, businesses, churches, charities. It is an old railroad station and is located "across from Pizza Joe's" on Main St in Nazareth. The food bank also maintains a garden for fresh produce.

Madara said she spends "a lot of tie crying" when she is at the food bank "because the generosity of the community is unbelievable."

Food is distributed only a month and is closed over the winter. It collects about six tons of food every year.

Interestingly, no other food banks were invited to make presentations. Could this be because Jeff Warren who chairs the Economic Development Committee, happens to be running for State Rep. in an area that is mostly covered by the Nazareth Food Bank?  Ironically, it is Warren who suggests that other Council members have political motives for their actions.

The guy does more self-puffery than even Zirinski. Of course he did it for politics. Watch as McClure gives out grant money this year, he will be sure to reward his rubber stamps. Warren will be more insufferable than he usually is as the election nears.

Are you suggesting Warren is bought and paid for by......Big Foodbank?

All politicians do everything for their own political ambitions. However, norco pols seem to have a PhD in sleaze.

What a cheap shot. Doesn’t DCED usually set the agenda for these meetings ?

Let me re-write your headline....."Nazareth Food Bank is actively seeking community support to sustain its operations".

If you want a political headline, might you write 'Trump Administration makes cuts to Emergency Food progrma placing more stress on local food banks"

This sounds like a "slow news day" blog post. I think this is a stretch, even if he volunteers there or is a frequent donor and made note of that at the presentation. How many food bank presentations do you need? They all do the same thing with differences being area served and amount they collect and distribute. Is the committee supposed to hear from all of them and rank them?

This is a bizarre post. Criticizing a member of council for highlighting the good work community groups are doing? Also, Warren has been the only one on council talking about and bringing up housing issues for the past several months. He asked the local LV realtor’s association to present at council this past week too. And they’re a Republican group.

I’m confused. Should the County not have grant programs ?

Hey, Bernie, the Director for the Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity did a presentation to council a few months ago. Was that a conspiracy too? As a volunteer for the Nazareth Food Bank garden, I strongly support their mission and the work they do. I'm glad there are organizations in our community to assist people who need help. Food Banks and other 501c3s deserve support, not criticism.

No, I am suggesting that he is looking for votes in the legislative district in which he and Emrick are likely to be opponents.

Um, Tina Smith runs DCED in NorCo and was at Warren's announcement.

Warren represents district 3 that includes the borough of Nazareth and lower Nazareth. Both served by the food bank.

it was a joke. We all know who is really in the thrall of Big Foodbank...

Jeff Warren is going to milk every ounce out of being a County Commissioner for his State Rep run. Didn't he get let go by Lisa Boscola for his DUI's? That is pretty bad when Boscola thinks you drink too much.

Now we know the who, what, when, and where of that food bank, the volunteers who help out, the people they serve. I am glad they exist and I think more people should be aware that poverty is alive and well in this area and this country and I don't give a darn which politician points that out. Some critics should spend a day or two there and help with food distributions no matter what their political views are. Learn something new. Help out.

If there isn’t a scandal we’ll cook one up post. Isn’t Nazareth Food Bank the closest one to where Warren lives and in his County Council district? It’s clear that Warren isn’t one of your favorites so you’ll be posting negative thoughts you have about him as “stories” until the election
