Willie Reynolds To Announce Re-Election Bid Tonight

It's been a tough start of 2025 for Bethlehem Mayor Willie Reynolds. It started with a barrage of President Trump's Executive orders, some of which impacted the city. Then there was a federal freeze, which was unfrozen but followed by a declaration that it's still in place. All of this prevented Reynolds from announcing his intentions concerning his job as Mayor. Then he came down with the flu.

Now that he's recovered, Reynolds is expected to announce his plans to seek re-election tonight at the Boyd in Bethlehem between 5 and 7 pm. He will be introduced by his predecessor, former Mayor Bob Donchez.

Grace Crampsie Smith, a member of Bethlehem City Council, has also announced that she is running.

Both are Democrats.

I intend to vote for Crampsie Smith. My experience with departments inside city hall suggests cronyism exists and that departments are kept understaffed in order to prevent the tax increases necessary to maintain a modern city.

The city’s infrastructure is failing, with my biggest attention on our drinking water system. 1960s-era neighborhood water mains are failing, leading to sinkholes and property damage. Leaky mains on karst cause holes, holes make condemned houses (see Pinehurst).

Reynolds is not personally responsible for a sinkhole. A lack of public capital improvement plans to replace aging water mains during his administration is.

He is not responsible for glacial activity in the planning and zoning department on residential permits. I suspect his fingerprints are present on the permits approved for the two hospital systems’ towers, South Side apartment buildings, and Alloy5 construction projects. Favoritism doesn’t feel fair. And not having easy access by phone borders on arrogance.

The city can do better.

I was not born with enough middle fingers to tell you how I feel about reynolds.

Wee Willie and his ilk have destroyed Bethlehem by too many woke/DEI policies. BTW, I see Zrinski was up to her old tricks yesterday protesting and making a fool out of herself! The only normal Democratic leader in the LV is Panto.

As a moderate Democrat, I totally agree with you. Sal Panto is a real old school throw back who is a very good Mayor in 2025. The Democratic Party has to veer back towards the center somehow and try to win back middle class working families.

I saw her on 69 news making an ass out of herself- this time without a bullhorn!

The party has been hijacked by a crazy fringe- Dems like Grucela, are a thing of the past.

Woke William do us all a favor and return to the classroom. You've done more harm than good all at the expense of your incredibly amount of arrogance. You did not attend such an important council meeting just days ago due to a scouts event. Your crony sidekick walked out for quite a while. This administration does not like to hear nor accept the truth. The city of Bethlehem traffic woes have been overrun due to your affordable housing program. AKA very expensive lofts! Increasing numbers of the homeless population is just reckless.

Grace had her kickoff last night at Campus Pizza on the south side. Pretty clear contrast right there, a small family business vs a development project that most in Bethlehem can’t afford. Wonder if Wee Willie got a nice donation from the Boyd developers?

Donchez, now Wee Willie, two terrible Mayors, and you wonder why Bethlehem is going backwards!

I hope she wins- wee willie is a disaster!

Reynolds is thin skinned and cant take any questions or you will hurt his ego and then he will try to retaliate against you. Not very good qualities for someone who wants to be in politics his whole life.
