Following The Money: NorCo Exec Race (UPDATED)

Campaign finance reports for 2024 are in. Here's what they tell us about the Northampton County Exec candidates Tara Zrinski (D), Amy Cozze (D) and Tom Giovanni (R).

Cozze had no active committee prior to announcing her campaign for Executive. Thus, she has no obligation to disclose her finances until May 9, when her pre-primary report is due.

Zrinski's report (you can see it here) reveals that she is starting 2025 with roughly $5,000. She raised $6700 in 2024, with her largest contributors being former Executive Glenn Reibman ($1,000) and her Solicitor, Steve Goudsouzian ($1,000). She did receive a total of $1,000 form IUOE Local 542 but refunded $500.

Starting in December, she used campaign finances to pay a small sum for HULU streaming service. It is unclear to me what connection that has to her campaign activities. She explained that this was an error because her paypal account was linked to her campaign account. She has since disconnected this link so that there will be no additional errors.

Tom Giovanni (you can see his report here) started 2025 with the same $535 he reported in 2024. He neither raised nor spent any money.

Zirinski's questionable use of campaign money should be no surprise.

She's probably getting her campaign material from "The Handmaid's Tales".

Thats campaign related, isnt it??

Another snoozer. TZ is the anointed one.

Tara has served on County Council ably, and is now an excellent County Controller. She has cut taxes and spending while on Council, and she has watched over County finances to make certain they are being spent wisely as Controller.

I sent her an email two days ago asking for an explanation. When I get it, I will post it.

9:03, This post is about campaign finance. I am not interested in comments about why any of the candidates are great or are terrible. I have already rejected a slew of the usual comments that blame Democrats for everything. Your assignment is to look at who supports a candidate monetarily and explain why. I believe that, in the case of Tara, she gets a lot of grass roots support from small donations but struggles with bigger donors, which might actually be a good thing.

I will publish no comments that fail to relate to these campaign finance reports

"Tom Giovanni ... started 2025 with the same $535 he reported in 2024. He neither raised nor spent any money."

Wow! Who is this guy? He was DOGE before DOGE was DOGE. I love it. He has my vote.

On Zriniski's filing: the WILD Pac is Susan Wild. Not much information about them online, either. The Kochs (Samuel Adams Beer) are big donors to that PAC.

Question for Amy Cozze: Why did her boss put a Philadelphia lawyer into the seat vacated due to the untimely death of NorCo legend Ed Smith? Couldn't she influence him into looking out for Northampton County?

Popularity contest? Well funded candidates not always best. Follow the money tree. Both Amy and Tom seem legit so far.

Since "poetry is always allowed" and she did put an expense down from Burger King:

Controller, Exec, you can't top her
Flame-grilled, by this blogger
She rules this day
.....
She spent some dollar
on Impossible or Bacon Whopper

Tara, filed today
She spent money, at BK.

Sing it to the the tune of the popular BK commercials of late.
