The County Comm'rs Ass'n, known as CCAP, meets annually to arrive at priorities. This year, seven county government priorities have been identified as follows:
- Appropriate Funding to Support the Crumbling Mental Health System
- Human Services Workforce Crisis
- Broadband Expansion
- Appropriate Funding and Reform for the Children and Youth System
- Promote Election Integrity
- 911 Funding and Reauthorization
- Funding and Resources for Elections
Northampton County Council considered and endorsed these priorities as a result of a 9-0 vote last week. Tara Zrinski expressed disappointment that there were no environmental policies identified.

Makes sense, isn't that what counties should; do. Also, Zirinslki is always looking for soundbites so no surprise there.

If you talk environment, there are a lot of projects the county could undertake that would be helpful to residents. I am not suggesting activities that raise the cost of oil. Here is a simple project. Several years ago Easton was told that they would be financially penalized for rainwater runoff entering the rivers. Makes sense. Streets accumulate motor oil and the oil washes into the rivers. What did Easton do? Instead of correcting the problem they passed the fine on to property owners. We pay the fine, but no correction plan is anticipated. There is one example of an environmental problem that needs a solution and the county may be the best organization to deal with it. There are enough incentives for solar, wind and efficiency to assist residents and businesses in reducing reliance on fossil fuels. There is little to improve water quality.
You report Northampton County Council adopts priorities????? What did our Northampton County Commissioners have to say about these adopted priorities??????? are they all on the same page. If I go to the Courthouse or is it the government center, do I go to the Commissioners office in the Courthouse or the Council office in the courthouse or the commissioners office in the government center, or do I go to the County Council Office in the Government Center????? Do I address them as commissioner or Council person. How do I address their letters when trying to communicate with them???? Do I address it to the Commissioner in the County Council Office or do I address it to the Commissioners office for a County council person masquerading as a commissoner or just simply address as it as " HEY ASSHOLE" ????? I'm so confused.
How about relief on our property taxes? When you can go four years in a row without raising taxes, that means you have a an over abundance of revenues and you are playing games with the County Taxes. you shouldn't have surpluses that allows you to build up slush funds. Cut our taxes.

That is quite a bit of mumble jumble. I thought we had council people in our county and Lehigh County has Commissioners. Will someone explain what this is all about. What's the difference betweeen the courthouse and the government center? isn't it one and the same.
anon10:55, It is confusing, th new democrats on council wanted the prestige of being called commissioners. They crave attention for their egos. Also, it has always been the County Courthouse until McClure, craving attention changed all th stationary to show th government center. He didn't want people to think the courts were in charge but that he was. He wanted everyo9ne to do it but the courts laughed and said, no.
These dems egos need constant attention and adoration.
Lofty goals..just like campaign promises..usually mean squat. Don't hold your breath on any of these to actually be acted on.
