Minnesota Fan: "I Will Never Come Back to Philly"

Philadelphia fans demonstrated again on Sunday why they have the reputation as the meanest, nastiest and drunkest sumbitches on the planet.

Minnesotans were shocked at the shabby treatment they received. Beer cans were tossed at them, Vikings' hats were decorated with urine and, of course, there was an occasional punch.

What the hell did they expect, Garrison Keillor and the Prairie Home Companion? Complimentary platters of Swedish meatballs? Questions about ice fishing?

Since the Superbowl is being played in Minnesota, they better call in the National Guard.

They were not welcome. Philly is notorious for not welcoming opposing fans. Its bad enough during the regular season. During the playoffs, it is horrendous. There was plenty of warning to the Vikings fans of Minnesota to simply stay home. Some traveled, although at their own peril, and got a taste of what all said they should expect.

A little good natured rivalry is fun, but when you add over consumption of alcohol, some just cant control themselves. A few drinks are ok, but it seems drunkenness is increasing in America.

Philly fans are a disgrace. Its sad that you can't even go to see a game without being harrassed.

The NFL has to take more than money into consideration when setting game times. Having the Eagles game start at 640pm was just stupid. Friends of mine started tailgating at 7am - that's alot of drinking time in return for potentially better ratings. Move it to a 1pm start and that would eliminate a good amount of the garbage.

I remeber being a dolphin fan in foxborough and philly aint got poop on those nutz

Cant beat watching it on tV, instant replays, warm, no drunks, no traffic, close bathroom, refrigerator near by. Going to the stadium is only for the young and naive.

Why are dolphin fans allowed to post here?

Good point.

Could be worse. Could be Dallas.

"Cant beat watching it on tV,"

It is more convenient at home, but nothing beats being there in person.

Bill Burr knows how to deal with Philly.

Im an Eagles fan. Yes, our fans are insane. It is well known!

Why would Vikings fans dress up Rocky in Vikings gear and do a chant on the art museum steps?!?! In other words, why would you incite Eagle fans while in Philadelphia?!?!?

ya don't kick the sleeping bear......

This is what sports is all about... getting folks to pick a side and fight and win at all costs, Vanquish thine enemies! It's artificial but very useful.

This is why it's always mixed with "real" news to help encourage division on real challenges. Sports metaphor is used everywhere to help strengthen divisions.

In this game of control if you can get a guy to fight over a jersey(uniform) some other guy is wearing, you own him completely.

That's a ridiculous analogy, and false. Most athletes are very good friends, and on every level. Philly fans can hate on Minnesota, but if one of them was in trouble, I know most of those fans would rush to help.

This isn’t Europe where visiting fans used to literally be put in cages for their protection. We should be proud of the American tradition of watching games together in a civilized manner.

Philadelphia continues to embarrass itself, even by the low standard of NFL game behavior.

Most of the asshole Philly fans are from South Jersey.

Your taking your life in your own hands donning any apparel not in Green. As a kid I remember going to 1 Eagles game @ the "VET" the Eagles where playing my KC Chiefs I am a Die Hard KC Chiefs Fan & I remember the ticket booth lady telling my mom. I suggest you have your Son take off his Chiefs Jacket for his safety & my mom's & the ticket lady even changed our seats for a more fan friendly level witch was the 800 section way high up toward the top of the VET that's where most of the visiting teams fans sat. I will admit I had some bad names called at me & my mom but security just kept saying just say nothing and watch the game. The only thing that happened to me was the Chiefs scored a TD & 1 guy took my Chiefs Hat and threw it to a lower level. Security got my hat for me after the game leaving the VET I had some bad names against the Chiefs the Chiefs won that game I was Happy but I did not show too much of my joy. But that was a hole different ERA than.... I would not DARE go to an EAGLES GAME NOW without EAGLES GEEN on

Bernie, I kinda felt that way when I have been to some basketball games at the local high school level....the behavior not only the fans/parents but also the student cheering sections is off the charts and beyond school spirit.. How adult school administrators think allowing your students to belittle and berate a player in a game and bully other fans of opposing teams is beyond me and to further it that slough of a sports writer gives out awards to one of the worst student sections- Bangor called the Quarry Crew which is just a disrespectful bunch of kids that would not even know what school spirit is but they are permitted to disrespcect and bully other teams players as well as fans. Just not right-

When you consider the Penn State hazing death of a football player, and realize the regard those teammates had for each other, should we be surprised when fans have no regard for one another?

A real ugly comment wishing for the death of the Eagles, and insulting the fanbase, has been deleted. I know only one person who is that fugly.

Don't worry. They'll be back. Once they taste Mike'd Fleck's meatball recipe, they'll be back.

Speaking of Mike'd, is he going to be called as a witness?. I'd love to be there if there's any way to know when to come.

This is a lazy statement based on no empirical evidence. In fact, it's wrong. Philadelphia is about middle of the road when it comes to stadium violence and arrests. But it's fun to make gross generalizations and spout sanctimonious nonsense.

I am a Die Hard KC Chiefs Fan

You're from Kansas City or simply a contrarian looking to rile up local fans?
