In response to ballot issues that have arisen over mail-in ballots (MIBs) in an Easton City Council race and the ballot itself in school board races, all five members of the NorCo Elections Comm'n last week requested a special meeting for Monday. On Friday, they were advised that elections officials were too busy to conduct a meeting on the day before the election.
Yesterday, Elections Comm's Scott Hough and Julie Geissinger visited the elections office anyway and asked to see the machine ballot for the Nazareth Area School Board races. They were refused by Elections Registrar Chris Commini, but claim they were told the ballot would be made available if Executive Lamont McClure approved.
They went to his office and told the receptionist why they were there. Instead of meeting with them, Elections Comm'r Scott Hough claims McClure just walked out without acknowledging them.
Under the Election Code, Elections Commissioners have an obligation to ensure that all ballots are accurately printed. (25 P.S. 2969). They also have the duty to "inspect systematically and thoroughly the conduct of primaries and elections in the several election districts of the county to the end that primaries and elections may be honestly, efficiently, and uniformly conducted." (25 P.S. 2642(g)). It appears they have been stopped from exercising their statutorily mandated duties. Moreover, all members of the public - not just elections commissioners - have the right to inspect the ballots (25 P.S. 2968).

Are you surprised? Lumpy McClure runs th elections. He has said so. Our local Trumpy is a lawyer and the Hell with a Home Rule Charter he will do things his way. He is telling you and the county that my ballots are perfect, and you will not review them even if you are on the for-show Election Commission. His lackeys in the office will do as he says. His loyal supporters will agree and his rubberstamps on council will back him up.

2 Election Commissioners do not make a quorum. A majority of the Commission didn’t want to meet. And,, 2 Commissioners can’t take any individual action so the Commission wasn’t prevented from doing anything.

6:54, According to what Hough told me yesterday, all 5 elections commissioners agreed to request a meeting for yesterday. The county rejected the idea for the understandable reason that they were preparing for an election the very next day. But as I point out, any member of the public has the right to inspect the ballot, and not just the online version. It is not just elections.
And no, the Comm'n never voted to approve the ballot. There was no meeting for that purpose. I have confirmed this.
Under NorCo's Home Rule Charter, there are five Comm'rs. Three come from the party that receive the most votes in the most recent general election. The other two come from the party receiving the second most votes. They are selected by the Exec from a list supplied by the party chairs and serve for two year terms. No member may hold public office, be a candidate for office or be an officer in any political party. The positions are unpaid.
Though the Charter provides that the Elections Comm'n administers the election system, that has not been the practice in NorCo over the years. The system is actually run by the county admin with money appropriated by County Council.

Lol, I certainly like Plato's Republic. It is one of the main foundational texts, not just of philosophy, but Western civilization. It is actually a search for morality, not just an examination of government. And while I reject the concept of philosopher kings or any form of one-man rule, I also reject the idea pf pure democracy. So does our Constitution. Pure democracy favors demagogues and mob rule.
I believe in government that serves the welfare of all people, as opposed to the self-interest of a few. There are basically three types of government. In a monarchical form, it can be benevolent and serve the welfare of all. But it also can be tyrannical and serve just the ruler. In the rule of a few, it can be a group of a few statesmen (optimates) who have the interest and welfare of he public in mind. In its worst form (oligarchy, kleptocracy, etc), it governs for the benefit of themselves. Then there is democracy. In its purest form, in which informed voters decide, it serves the welfare of all. In its perverted form - mob rule - it is radical and cruel. (e.g. Athens, French Revolution). The government that best serves us is the one we have - a constitutional republic based on representative democracy.

Who has suggested that an entire election be tossed? Nobody. Cross-filing exists for offices like school board and judge precisely to remove the partisan nature from these positions. I was unaware that was MAGA. It's true that the ballot has been configured incorrectly since 2021 and possible since 2019 and I never noticed it until it was brought to my attention this year. Shame on me. Shame on all of us. I would hope that, instead of attacking me personally, you would want to change this improper ballot design for the future. I would hope that you'd agree that the elections commissioners actually approve the ballot instead of using their automatic signatures to create the false impression that they approved it.
Please specify what lies are being told. I have pointed to the problem in Easton's City Council. That report is accurate. I have reported about the problem with cross-filed candidates in school board races and have provided both sides of the story. The only lies I detect are coming from people like you. You claim the Elections Comm'rs signed the ballot when you know they never approved it and that the county used their auto signature.

There was no news release announcing that the machine ballot was posted online on October 13. So 9:25 is a county insider. I'd like to know why the ballot was not online when the MIBs went out. Also, so far as being a MAGA, the problem I raised in Easton, where the wrong MIB was definitely sent to one voter and may have mistakenly been sent to 48 voters, that error adversely affects the Democratic candidate. Pointing to possible errors does not make me a MAGA. It actually makes me a democrat, but a small "d" democrat.
Another election failure by McClure who will he blame this time now that he fired the last? Another prime example of how McClure is unfit for congress, won’t make it past the primaries next year.

If you think every single registered voter gets to vote, or that every single vote is counted, you've been asleep for the last five years. The party in charge of each county gets a home field advantage. It's always been this way. Win elections and put your team in charge. This isn't difficult.
