Shortly before Lamont McClure announced his own candidacy, she sent this text to people she considers her friends:
"Hi all. Some news here that I'm sharing with you and you may share with others (but please, not on social media yet). I will not be running for Congress next year.
"Life is just too good on the other side, and tbh, I think I can do more good right here in our community, supporting some of our wonderful organizations and a few good elected officials. Let me know of any opportunities to do good charitable work out there. I still will need to do some kind of income-producing work, but I also anticipate much more free time.
"Yay!
"But, I have a mission. I want to recruit a short list (or even one!) of quality candidate(s) to run against Ryan Mackenzie (and win!) I pledge to PERSONALLY coach said person, and open up my vast donor network to such a candidate. The ideal candidate will be female, preferably with a STEM background, no political experience needed (in fact, preferred not to be someone in politics). I and others will coach every step of the way.
"By STEM, I mean someone in medicine, science, engineering, manufacturing, or teaching of such subjects.
"I am only aware of one Dem who is going to announce shortly, a male elected official, who I do not think is the right person to win this important seat. I'll say no more than that.
"Please send me your ideas for candidates! I will personally reach out to them. My cell number, if you don't have it, is [redacted]. Thanks!"

Wild was obviously miffed that McClure was going to run for the seat without first seeking her imprimatur. That probably explains why she snubbed him during MLK Day at Easton's Shiloh Church. This no doubt is why she endorsed Amy Cozze in the Exec race over Tara Zrinski, despite her telling Zrinski she would support her. You see, Cozze detests McClure as well.
Wild incredibly thinks that Democrats are going to allow her to select their next nominee. Of course, she wants this person to be a female, as though being a member of the penis club automatically is disqualifying.
Her offer to coach this candidate is downright laughable. Will she want this woman with a STEM background to insult Lehigh and Northampton County voters as well? Will she have her handpicked candidate park in handicapped spots, or drive while shooting a video with her dog running around inside her SUV? Will she teach this person to rely on out of state donors as she did so she could thumb her nose at the people she is supposed to represent?
Well, Wild has succeeded in drawing an interested candidate named Carol Obando-Derstine, a NJ transplant who moved here in 2003 and works for PPL as a systems engineer. She's a former staffer to former US Senator Bob Casey.
Don't get me wrong. Democrats should have a choice in deciding who is best suited to take on Mackenzie. But it is Democratic voters, and not Susan Wild, who should decide.
If I have one suggestion for Carol. Forget any coaching advice you get from Wild.

Someone who works for PPL yeah that will get the voters excited. Also funny that McClure who is from Carbon and wins big in Norco is somehow not the antidote to the loss Wild put upon herself. Good riddance

Is your love for McClure so fanatical and your hatred of Wild so great, that you put down this young woman already? If your boy McClure is so great he will sweep her away like a Gracedale employee wanting a living wage. This message from former Rep. Wild is not consistent with the work she did for our district. Susan is not a pol; if she were, she’d have her finger better placed on our wrist to pick up a pulse.

Personally, I think it is an excellent move to let Democrat losers pick the eventual Democrat loser in future elections. Can't wait for the 2028 Walz- AOC presidential ticket....

We have a great candidate already, Lamont McClure, who has a fabulous political record and has the funding to back his campaign. What a shame Susan Wild has to recruit someone to run against him. It only creates division and frankly it's a waste of money.

Let me get this straight. Casey snubs the Lehigh Valley when it came to replacing the late great Ed Smith (something even Susan Wild, to her credit, spoke up about!) and now his staffers come flooding into Lehigh Valley elections, pretending to care about us? Make it make sense!
This might be doing McClure a favor. Not being the choice of the stagnant, out-of-touch Democratic old guard may be viewed by many as a positive!

McClure has made it clear he's running against Mackenzie. Wild's comments have made it clear that the candidate she supports is running against men. Wild is a dope and this lady is already a dope by association. COD has a good career a nice comfy retirement awaiting so she's got nothing to lose and just has to tolerate 13 more months of snide comments on this blog and then she can disappear as quickly as she appeared.
However, with this infighting in the local Democrat party, there has to be more to the story. Maybe someone's got some serious dirt on someone. Susan Wild is done. Once you're pegged as a LOSER it is hard to promote other candidates. Susan was a do nothing member of Congress who didn't properly represent her district. Her insulting remarks to Carbon County voters really hurt her. Parking in "handicapped spots" didn't help either. Of course she can support who she wants but this just shows that she is not in touch with the voters in CD 7 besides a small portion of Lehigh County. If the objective is to unseat MaKenzie then this is a weak choice. Like Wild she will have a hard time in Northampton and Carbon County and if she makes it through the Primary she may win this time but winning and holding the seat should be the goal. I’m voting for McClure he can win and he can hold the seat.

Bernie called her Susan Obando-Derstine - SOD - and I referred to her as COD. COD is an acronym for Cash on Demand, which is what Wild is promising by coaching every step of the way. However, SOD may be more apt because that's turf you walk on and McClure is going to walk all over and stomp the SOD in the Democrat primary, if she makes it that far.
