Five Candidates To Avoid in May

Not because they're "Democratic Socialists," whatever that is, but because they are the worst possible quintuplet to hold elective office.

Santos and Sultana have been disasters in Allentown and Easton, respectively. Both are routinely absent. Santos just votes whatever way Ce-Ce Gerlach to vote, and Sultana accuses everyone in Easton of being racist, sexist and whatever "ist" she can think of at the moment. Neither cares about the people they should be representing.

Qayyum is Sultana's husband and has already run unsuccessfully for magisterial disrict judge and controller. He's the idiot who circulated a petition on behalf of his wife that contained the forged signature of State Senator Lisa Boscola. He thinks that a county council can enact a minimum wage.

Palmer, an active participant is just about every Allentown protest, has lost several attempts to get elected in Allentown to something, anything.

Stemrich's website includes this statement: "Fuck facism [sic] in all forms." He should at least learn how to spell the word before he fucks it, don't you think? He claims to have been a journalist but is apparently more like a blogger because he is unable to spell.

As a common sense conservative, I won't touch 'em with a ten foot pole! All whacked out, far left nut jobs.

You claim Nadim thinks the county can make minimum wage. Your girl Zirisnki thinks the county can do rent control. So, you have dumb and dumber.

You know exactly what a Democratic Socialist is, a socialist.

The fact that that alone isnt an un-electable attribute shows how far our nation has fallen. Socialists are just half baked communists and these losers dont deserve to be anywhere near public office.

Stemrich also doesn't know campaign laws or just doesn't care. He has had his signs up since petition deadline week. All along the highway from Airport Road to Cedar Crest. He'll probably be the candidate that leaves them there well past his loss too.

Great feedback. I'm bullet voting for Jeremy Binder for Allentown City Council and writing in Luis Acevedo. I thought Acevedo was an outstanding candidate, but unfortunately one of the other candidates found someone to challenge him on a minor technicality and he was tossed off the ballot.

What kind of group would endorse Sultana or Santos??????? They do nothing and hardly show up.

No surprise the old pasty boomer blog boy goes after a group of primarily BIPOC public servants, have you no shame?

these people are your modern day Democrat party. Dems would vote for them just because they have a D next to their name. Those are the voting habits that need to change.

John Irons, LC commissioner, is also part of this group.
Josh Siegel also fits in perfectly.

If you're going to use our graphic you could at least link to our website/post.

Siegel is ripped, shredded and jacked he makes Luigi Mangione look like Mr Bean total stud and future rock star on the far left whose ascendency is inevitable consider the ills of late stage capitalism

I am pretty sure I saw one of his signs a week ago on 309 north of the 22 interchange which is not in Allentown city.

If Palmer cannot get elected to anything in Allentown, that tells you something. Allentown seems to like electing the dumbest of the dumb; some real dregs, for sure.

If you're going to use our graphic you at least link our post that you took it from or website: https://www.lehighvalleydsa.org/

Leo A, That's a pretty bizarre comment from someone who claims to be a socialist. Everything should belong to everyone. Incidentally, once you place something on Facebook for the world to see, you have no right to claim it is yours. Finally, your graphic does indicate its source, and I mention it in my story. I have no obligation to link to you.

Does anyone know the candidate that was behind the challenge to Acevedo being on the ballot for Allentown City Council?

Don’t always agree with you Bernie but thanks for outing these crazies!

Bernie, in terms of understanding socialism, I think you're smarter than that. I'd be happy to talk about it with you though if you're interested.

I was merely asking for a curtesy. The same way if I quoted your blog I would link to it. I was not intending to make an accusation. I used the term "our graphic" colloquially because our organization created it. I appreciate you sharing it and you are correct you have no obligation to link to us.

Personalities aside, if you pick any similar size group of Democrats and you'll see exactly the same voting patterns and policy positions.

Five candidates I'll consider voting for for sure.

Leo A, Here's the thing. You know who I am and can reach out whenever you want. I have no idea who Leo A is, except that it's an irregular galaxy somewhere out there, kinda' like your group. I think it's quite obvious to anyone who saw the graphic where it comes from, especially since the name is plastered on top. And I do understand socialism, and guess what, there is no such thing as individual ownership. Under pure socialism, there is no copyright.

It also amazes me that, instead of defending these terrible choices, you are more concerned about links to your little club.

Bernie, I am the current chair of the Lehigh Valley chapter of the DSA. I did give my name here unlike almost all the other commenters on your post. I am sure with that information you can look me up.

I have read your blog for years, and while I do not always agree with you I appreciate you covering local news and politics. That said, I do not understand your vitriol for me or the organization I volunteer with, Lehigh Valley DSA, when you yourself said you don't know know me or the organization.

I would be happy to email you if you would like to talk more about who I am or the organization or our endorsement process or political philosophies in general. I think in our current political environment we should encourage healthy dialog and disagreements, not the petty viciousness popularized by people like Donald Trump. While we may disagree on many topics, I imagine that we might have a lot more in common than you think.

Thanks again for sharing our endorsements and for covering local politics.

I don't know any of those people so I can't say anything nice about them. Sounds like people who know them can't say anything nice about them, either. *Guffaw*

First of all, confronting facism is also just as important as confronting fascism.

Lol...wants the group to remain anonymous (pictures) but has a problem when you don't promote them.

Anon 139. Au contraire. There are 4 other d candidates distinctly different from these 3.
Firstly, Natalie Santos, until only recently, has not shown up live for a meeting. Who knows what she does during a meeting since there is no video feed. The other council members dress and travel but not her. No one can engage face to face. Nor has she defended her position or asked a question over most of her tenure. I witnessed a recent meeting where the video feed presumably shut down at the end, cece asked how she herself voted and then turned to Natalie to jokingly say yes, of course, you voted just like I did.

Palmer has shown up at meetings inconsistently to usually criticize but has not presented an intelligent commentary. He has not been a presence at asd.

Ben Stem has materialized by way of Josie Lopez who has shown herself to be unbalanced and a mouth. Her last appearance at council was erratic. Daryl was totally in the right to stifle her ramblings disconnected to the topic.

And broadly, have any of the 3 disclosed their jobs? The upcoming raise to 16000 a year translates to having a full time minimum wage. Easy money for someone not in the habit of showing up.

Leo A, Actually you did not identify yourself except as a "Leo A," and as I already pointed out, I don't know you. As I already pointed ot, you can reach out to me by email for a more thorough discussion. My vitriol for you and DSA is based on the following: 1) You seem to be more concerned about getting a link than in actually helping the five people you claim to have endorsed; 2) You offered no reasons why people should elect these loose cannons; 3) Your group's endorsed list is an extremely divisive bunch. 4) Your views tarnish regular Democrats who get painted with a broad brush with your nonsense.

Leo A “I am the current chair of the Lehigh Valley chapter of the DSA“. Interesting flex. I am the president of the Ralph Q fan club

Moderate democrats have a very good opportunity next cycle given Trumps chaos. If they choose to continue to go far left with these kind of people they will continue to lose.

I don’t think the DSA has a leader or chairthey. I thought they were a “nondenominational union of individuals democratic collective Marxist leaderless combined organization vanguard”? When did they become so fascist and structured to have one person speak for them? !
