Hearing For Suspected Border House Bandit Delayed

A preliminary hearing for the suspected Border House Bandit has been delayed. Jack Morris, 64, was chaged by Nazareth Police Officer Randall Pompei on August 31 with a rash of thefts from fellow seniors and the disabled at the Oliver Border House in Nazareth. Morris himself was a resident at this senior community. His preliminary hearing, in which the Commonwealth must prove a prima facia case against Morris, was sheduled for yesterday. That hearing, however, has been delayed. It has been rescheduled for October 13, 11:30 am, before Magisterial District Judge John Capobianco.

Morris is currently being housed, not at the Border House, but at Northampton County jail.  He's been unable to post the $75,000 bail set by the court. He faces 10 counts of burglary, a first degree felony punishable by 10-20 years in jail; 10 counts of trespassing, a third degree felony punishable by 3.5-7 years; 1 count of theft as a third degree felony; and 1 count of receiving stolen property as a third degree felony.

Morris is represented by Attorney Nicole Gagliardi of the Northampton County Pubnlic Defender's Office. If he remains in jail, it is likely his hearing will be conducted at the courthouse

Cash bail is cruel and unusual. This guy shouldn't be incarcerated. He should be released immediately. Vote Fetterman.

This guy has terrorized the tenants. Especially some of the victims. One victim who happened to be his neighbor was close to a nervous breakdown until he was apprehended. He shouldn't be incarcerated? What Bernie failed to mention, is that this guy is a career criminal and should have never been rented an apartment here as per HUD regulations not renting to felons. However the management at the time among other screw ups rented to he and his wife immediately batter he spent a year in jail for retail theft. He has a record going back to the late 70s. But as I mentioned Lehigh County(Valley Housing) management at the time as with everything else at OBH didn't give a damn

At least this man met the age requirements to live in that senior housing location. There are many cases of younger residents with disabilities being allowed to move into subsidized senior housing. In many cases, it is not a problem, but it has been a problem with seniors being intimidated in other cases.

This guy should have tried some of Oz's miracle cures that he advertised on his TV show. Vote Oz. (smirk)
