Dent in Hanover Tp on Armed Forces Day |
“After consecutive months of tepid economic improvement in the first quarter of the year, April and May’s terribly disappointing employment reports demonstrate the President’s brand of recovery is neither durable nor sustainable. To fully recover from the economic downturn and encourage job growth, Washington must promote fiscal responsibility by controlling and prioritizing federal spending, reduce the current regulatory burden on job creators, develop an all-of-the-above energy portfolio and enact comprehensive tax reform that encourages growth and investment. Unfortunately, the President has failed to embrace a single component of this strategy. Instead, he has consistently called for greater federal spending, talked about the need for regulatory relief without delivering any substantial reforms, attempted to pick winners and losers in the energy industry rather than letting the competitive market drive innovation, and proposed tax increases on American small businesses and hardworking families. The time has come for the President to abandon his election year posturing and support serious policies to revive this economy through the implementation of pro-growth measures.”

talk is cheap charlie, start working some magic with your fellow cronies down there and make it happen, you are in a Republican controlled house of representatives for Christ's sake! The President is to blame, but so is congress... THROW EM ALL OUT IS WHAT IO SAY
Talk is about all Charlie has ever been able to muster. He is no longer relevant in Washington.
please....someone explain how government creates jobs....
The sad part is, PA could be a steam engine for job growth and prosperity.
Biggest problem in PA is the regulations that make job creation impossible. Take a look at the Commonwealth Court who is now hearing arguments about the shale drillers and the local impact fee.
The naysayers wish to have more zoning control, more regulation and more taxes. That is one way to spoil what could be 100,000 new family sustaining jobs.
Local zoning needs to be refit entirely to a state function. As long as local zoning exists, we will continue to have a hostile and impossible environment for business creation and growth. End local zoning now!
Dent voted against Obama's small business jobs bill that would give tax incentives to small business who create new jobs. Instead, Dent keeps supporting tax breaks for the 1%'ers with absolutely no guarentee of job creation. This is a bottom up economy so how can you expect a rebound with the same failed trickle down solutions?
Also, if the Keystone XL pipeline is about jobs and energy independence, why does the GOP house sit on a resolution that would dedicate a majority of the pipeline flow to US interests?

Fracking technology, fed ex, internet, mediacal research, clean coaltechnology, bio fuels, transportation infrastructure are government investments.
Fact is Wall Street is about near term profitability. It discourages companies from taking big financial risks and investments.
Government can be a seed of technology transfer if done correctly.
and how is the decision as to which technology gets "seeded"? is it based on campaign contributions, like Solyndra?

I strongly disagree with your position on state vs. local zoning. A prime example of state zoning control is the Highlands Act in Northern and Central New Jersey...one of the most egregious (sp?) land grabs in New Jersey history. What if Pennsylvania enacted similar legislation (yes there is a Pennsylvania Highlands region too). In many cases, the state has no idea about the culture in certain geographic areas, and a one size fits all approach to zoning would not represent the people who live there. Regarding fracking...the state already trumps local government, so that is ostensibly not an issue. Finally, while the state maintains control of fracking, they have significantly downsized the workforce that was in place to make certain that the process is done safely...in other words there are far too few inspectors to do the job properly. I support responsible job growth, but NOT when we mortgage our children's future to achieve a short term benefit. Locally controlled zoning protects the people most affected by zoning decisions.
Dent isn't our Congressman anymore. Hid releases are meaningless.
please....someone explain how government creates jobs....
Um, see "New Deal."
Dent is still Congressman to more than half of the LV.
Dear Big Government,
Socialism works great until you run out of other people's money. So please, never let those evil, greedy Rich People stop paying their fair share (i.e., all my freight). And build me an ice hockey rink, too, please.
Thank you,
Contemporary Incompetent American Incapable of Surviving Without Big Government Aid
Charlie/Shawn Millan, So you wanna react to enemic job growth, consider this. The fact is the number one job killer is automation. The computer is a good thing but how many office jobs were lost to it? Due to automation and robotics in manufacturing, job killer.Even in retail, have you been in Home Depot,Walmart,Target lately, find someone on the floor or cashier. How about self checkouts? Whose fault is this scene, the governments. How many combined stores are we talking about 10,000.If they all hired 10 people per store at no big loss to their bottom line etc etc etc. Theres alotta blame to go around so lets get it figured out and come up with some solutions.

I'm assuming this rocket scientist will never accept social security or Medicare nor will any of his parents or family members. They all pay their own freight, right? Give me a break, IronPigPen.
anon 830. Did you forget Enron? What is it with California based Energy Companies anyway.
Please check and see how much federal investment Air Products and Lehigh got? It is my understanding Lehigh got more stimulus then all LV municipalities combined.
Impersonating Jon Geeting:
It's all George Bush's fault!
End of impersonation.
