Jeff Warren Attack of Giovanni Photo: Petty, Phony and Partisan

Last week, I told you that Tom Giovanni, who represents the northern part of Northampton County on its Council, intends to run for County Executive. Today, I told you that Tara Zrinski, the County Controller, also intends to run. Like it or not, these are two good candidates. They have experience with county government, which is a different animal than most local governments. Yes, Zrinski struggled in her infancy as a County Council member making the transition from activist to elected official. But she has grown, and it shows in the job she has done as Controller. Yes, Giovanni is quiet during meetings, which I actually consider as plus. He has also been everywhere in his district and spends more time at the courthouse than any other council member, serving his community. On this blog, both of them have come under heavy criticism with partisan attacks that are either anonymous or use sock puppets. I'd like to address one of the few partisans who necessarily had to reveal himself because his attack came at a County Council meeting last week.

This partisan is Council member Jeff Warren. Near the end of Thursday night's Council meeting, Warren used the soapbox to complain about Giovanni's campaign announcement. Giovanni's announcement included a headshot that was apparently taken at county expense, and Warren ostentatiously argued that this use of public resources for politics is wrong and that if he had done it, people would be all over him. "You shouldn't be using public resources for campaign-based activities," he piously declared.

It's unclear to me that public resources were used at all. When County Council members get their photos taken, it is done by an outside vendor. If they want, they can buy one like Warren did for his "I like me" wall. It would seem to me that the outside vendor might have grounds to complain, but not the county.

In any event, Giovanni said he would refrain from using it.

This is a very petty complaint, as Warren himself seemed to acknowledge. It is also phony. Warren is complaining about the use of public resources for political reasons, yet that is precisely what he was doing himself. He used county cameras to launch a political attack against someone from another party over a perceived violation. If he felt this was a violation, he should have contacted the DA but chose instead to play politics himself with county resources. In essence, his attack is petty, phony and partisan.

Little wonder that I hold a low opinion of Democrats. Some of the vilest human beings to mar the face of the planet.

He is an ass. But hey, he will be an administrator in a Ziriznski cabinet.

It is clear that Giovanni used taxpayer money to campaign. First, the photographer was hired and paid by the taxpayer to photograph the Commissioners for their official photos. Second, the photograph Giovanni used to advocate for his election to County Executive was the photo that the taxpayer paid for. Third, after Vargo Heffner lied to try and obfuscate what happened Giovanni admitted violating the law. Finally, the DA should investigate this blatant misuse of public funds for political purposes.

Warren definitely didn’t have any friends in high school so now he has to go and tattletale on people.

A sober review of Warren's experience in the county judicial system shows he has cost taxpayers a lot of money.

I don’t understand how you could attack Amy Cozze in another post for using government resources improperly, but forgive Tom Giovanni for an even worse violation ?

This is a bizarre attack on Warren. If you actually listen to him, he says he hopes everyone running is on the same page this election cycle, both Democrats and Republicans, when it comes to using public resources for their campaigns. It’s a good government message.

That's insane

Lol 6:05 is definitely Warren trying to defend himself. He clearly doesn’t understand that the picture is probably on the internet and also press use official photos all the time. Poor baby Warren!

Oh boo hoo, I love how Republicans call Democrats snowflakes, but when Democrats call Republicans out for any wrong doing they call us bullies or petty and claim we had no friends while in high school. You are the snowflakes.
It doesn't really matter how hard you try and protect the quiet man. He is going to lose. He is an election denier and a flat out liar according to his announcement.
Petty or not, the rules are the rules. And I guarantee if the situation was reverse you would have an entirely different spin on it.

Lol you guys are wacky! I pray to God the voters of Northampton County realize the democratic "leaders" are actually mentally ill activists and vote against it. It's honestly getting hard to watch these people, who have accomplished nothing, climb the ladder of leadership in this county.

No. The DA has better things to do, like prosecuting criminals. You sound like and ass.

If county council spent as much time fixing county problems as they do attacking each other NORCO would be a better place to live.

I haven't forgiven Tom. I am being consistent. It is inappropriate to use public resources for campaign activity. That includes the use of a campaign photo that was actually taken by the county. It includes the use of a federally subsidized computer to make a political attack like Cozze did. It also includes the use of a televised county council meeting to attack a candidate for exec the way Warren did. The appropriate thing to do is report the perceived violation to the DA, not use more public resources to embarrass the person being attacked.

Bernie, you are a huge reason why good people will not run for public office and especially county seats. Good people want to serve, but are scared of you and your public scrutiny. You no doubt have influenced weak commissioners, and it's too bad that a keyboard warrior like yourself gets to sit back and pull on puppet strings. Good for Warren to call out the "quiet man" and not give a shit what you have to say!

If a person is afraid to run because he or she dislikes criticism, that person is not fir for public office.

Look at you being all humble when you know damn well you try and brutalize those you don't like or protect those you do. This county is the only county that I know of that has a self serving blogger who tries to humiliate public servants daily. Good people who run are NOT subjected to abuse elsewhere. So take credit for what you do, good or bad. And honestly, we all know the only people who read this blog are county employees and those who are elected.

Cry me a river. Someone take your ball and go home?

Amen, They're all clowns!

Lol, I was unaware I was being humble. Since you believe the only people who read this blog are county employees and elected officials like yourself, you should have no reason to worry.

Sheesh. Its a picture; who cares? I’d prefer the DA spent time on more pressing matters.

Lol. I am neither (yet) and i read this every day. I didn’t know I was the only one.

If people decide what they are going to do based on this blog then they don’t belong in office lol

I'm not worried nor have I ever acted worried. That is the perception of the populace.

Warren's countless videos of himself are an embarrassment- he should be ashamed of himself.

Easy, snowflake. Don't blow an orange gasket.

I'd take quiet any day over a vapid showboat- and btw, the activist/ opportunist Zrinski is an embarrassment!

2024 is the year of common sense, the silent majority has spoken and voted out Susan wild, Kamala and other radical left democrats. Northampton county must vote out Warren and Keegan to help this county. I would vote for any other democrat other than them at this point. And also Tara would be a great executive

dude...take a breath. Touch grass. Then use punctuation...

Has he ever looked in the mirror?

Zrinski would be a disaster!

Anonymous said...

Nailed it!

Warren is an embarrassment!

Let's deal with real problems, shall we?

Anonymous said...

If this is your biggest concern you have bigger problems.

The ones who don’t like the criticism are the incompetent council members.
