Senseless Deaths at Conn. Elementary School

We're all political junkies and I'm sure we all have opinions about gun control. I don't want to get into that now. I just want to say how sad and pointless it is to see young lives cut short. This even hit me, a miserable bastard, hard. If any of you have words that will help us make sense of this or feel better, please feel free to comment. I've got nothing.

I won't make any wiseass or silly political comment. This is the kind of needless tragedy that just gnaws at your heart.

Very sad day Bernie.

My heart aches for them all. They were just little kids who harmed no one.

Senseless media reporting that the wrong guy did it.

So tiny. My God. I'm numb.

Shame, shame. Rush Limbaugh has already politicized this tragedy.

No need for you to do so, too.

Words are useless. What can any of us truly say that will take away the pain and tears. Life is so fragile. Senseless and evil sum it up for me. Sometimes there are no answers to our burning questions. That's the tough part.

Pity the person..who harms one of these little ones..it would be better to have a mill stone tied around their neck and be thrown into the sea. Have mercy Lord..

Brings back horrid memories of the Amish Elementary School shooting and attempted rapes. This stuff needs to end. Time to bring back mental institutions and getting the help provided to those that need it instead of throwing them in group homes and the streets.

No one solution to this terrible situation. It will take multiple initiatives to attempt to eradicate these types of incidents. We grieve and then we tend to forget until it happens all over again. Our elected leaders need to actually lead here. Time to get serious if we want these types of killings to stop.

It does figure that Linbaugh the Ass would be the first to make a 'thing" about this.

And you would be the second. No need for you to do it, too.

Agree, the children are the victims not Rush Linmbaugh!

Some nutter in central China just slashed 20 some odd kids the day before, none died. Why would anyone want this type of incident to be their legacy?

As a new grandfather I am grieving for the families and horrified at the thought of the agony of those little ones. But this has to stop. Every time this horror rises up we say "It's time for sadness, not politics". And then we never talk about stopping it, it's never "the right time".
Enough.
Now is the "time". No other nation has this repeatedly. No other nation has as high a per capita ownership of guns. No other nation allows civilians to have huge-ammo-clip guns. No legitimate hunter hunts with an Uzzi. We could never identify in advance or lock up all the deranged and troubled souls. It takes much longer and most have no stomach for bludgeoning or stabbing to death someone, guns make it easy and fast.
Ban the big-clip guns.
Ban sakes by unlicensed sellers and require background checks at gun shows.
Do. It. Now. Finally.
Severely regulate all ammunition.
For the young innocents.
Enough.

I am not ashamed to say I cried. I tried to picture my life after such a horrific deed would take away my son or daughter at such an innocent age. I cried. No parent should ever, ever, have to bury their child. It is pain I couldn't ever imagine. Words cannot ease the pain of losing someone so young who knows nothing but love and a desire to be loved. Our hearts go out to the parents and families of all those affected by this hienous act.

donmiles,

you left out one more requirement:

that nutjobs from broken homes who would kill a classroom full of five-year olds must strictly adhere to all new laws. otherwise, they might not, right?

The person posting as "West Easton Foot Print" is impersonating Mezzacappa. I wish people were more honest and don't know why they are playing games on a matter like this.

GOD bless us all everyone¿

We all grieve, then we all have a responsibility to do everything we can to limit these tragedies. Those of us who ownweapons have a special responsibility to limit these horrible events.

as it was said by one mother of a surviving child... Now there are 20more angels watching over Newton... my heart goes out to everyone there! God Bless!!!

Some events can never be understood. Our world continues to confound.

All I can think about is there are 20 families that sent their little one to school yesterday, and the next time they see them will be in a morgue.
There are no laws that can be enacted to stop such uncontrolled rage in a disturbed mind. Right now I can only pray for all involved.

This disturbed kid's mom had legally obtained guns for protection. Stricter gun laws have no relevance to this situation. We need to wait until a motive is determined. This sicko killed his own mom who seems like a good and honorable person. This is not the time to politicize an issue. It is a time for national mourning.
