Susan Wild v. Fetterman?

According to Semafor, former Lehigh Valley Congress member Susan Wild is being urged to take on US Senator John Fetterman in 2028, assuming that he seeks re-election. Fetterman angered some Democrats when he refused to support a government shutdown. During that shutdown, as Fetterman himself observed, many Pennsylvanians saw their SNAP benefits delayed. He gets blasted when he refuses to wear a suit, the uniform currently in fashion by our ruling class.  He's now being blasted for his vote to confirm another Senator, Markwayne Mullin, as the new DHS Secretary. It makes no difference that Fetterman was among those who called on Kristi Noem to resign or be fired.

In my view, Fetterman is precisely the kind of person that Democrats (and the country as whole) need.

But Susan Wild has a different take. She recently slammed him as a "disappointment." The former Congress member who pretended to reach across the aisles is apparently angry that Fetterman is insufficiently partisan.

And we wonder why nothing gets done,

These days, Congress is little more than a glorified call center, where members are required to spend their days raising money instead of legislating.

I'd prefer a guy in a hoodie to someone who parks in handicapped spots.

Fetterman voted to destroy healthcare for millions of people, by not extending subsidies - making health insurance unaffordable. So there is that.

Sure, Wild are you kidding me?

I think you are beginning to come around, Bernie. Our American government no longer performs the way it was originally designed by the framers of the Constitution. It’s gone off the rails. It no longer performs its duties first in the best interest of the citizens it pledged to serve.

The lines between the original 3 branches of government have become blurred. I see the greatest impediment that has led to today’s dysfunctional government to be not so much the Executive Branch, but rather the Legislative Branch.

Most people in Congress seem to believe they, the Congress, can act outside the original design that served our nation’s people well for most of the past 250 years. You have characterized this underperforming group (Congress) correctly.

Congress is now full of self-serving grifters, liars, and sometimes criminal operatives. To make matters worse, members of both political parties have joined together to keep their little games going . . . . without interference from the ‘little people’ or citizens as we are known. We have a UniParty operating behind the curtain. That’s not good for anyone but themselves.

We need DIFFERENT people in Congress!

It is essential to remove many incumbents from office, regardless of their political party label. Of course, this will take some time and there are a few exceptions that deserve a little more of our patience. This Independent voter includes John Fetterman in that group.

Susan Wild’s past performance demonstrated precisely the type of person we do NOT need in Washington.

Senator John Fetterman reached across the aisle by stating:

Voter ID makes fairer elections
A secure border is good for the US and regular citizens
Government shutdowns are bad

I find it surprising how many elected Democrats can fit on the tiny piece of intellectual real estate on the other side of that aisle.

Scott Janney for State Senate

Doubt that Wild would run or win the nomination. She'll be 70 and young Dems have been attacking their gerontocracy lately.

I've noticed that the press tends to seek out Fetterman for comment. Why? Because he's engaged and gives valid reasons for his votes and his [reasonable] stances and is not afraid to vote against party to get something moving. Wild was never on TV because she's not capable of processing her own thoughts; mindless automaton whose sole function was the grunt 'aye' to the party line; like so many on both sides of the aisle.

I think it's irresponsible to cut off your nose to spite your face and that is what happens in a shutdown. The healthcare subsidies were actually extensions of subsidies that were added during COVID, when no one was working. But SNAP benefits were not extensions added during COVID, but the actual benefits and they were cut off. It was irresponsible to let these crucial benefits lapse simply bc you did not your way with something else. Fetterman was right. I am very leery of government shutdowns no matter how noble the reason bc there are so many services interrupted.

Anonymous said...

Temporary subsidies with an expiration date. This is done for two reasons, to make the numbers work budget wise, and to use as a political weapon if they’re not extended. The reason the subsidies had an expiration date is simply, we can’t afford it!!

Honestly I thought this guy was a vegetable after his stroke. Not only has his health bounced back nicely, he’s the only person making any sense down there in the swamp right now.

Anonymous said...

It’s true! He votes with his party most of the time. These issues you list are 80/20 issues. He understands that he represents the people. People want a secure border and they want voter ID by large majorities. They DONT want federal employees used as political pawns. It’s simple stuff. Susan Wild is a privileged troll that needs to go away.

Anonymous said...

Fetterman is great! He recently said what do us democrats stand for other than TDS? It’s a great question!!

Anonymous said...

Fetterman will NEVER win. He dug his own grave. I'd vote for Wild.

Anonymous said...

You must be kidding, you hopeless cuck. He's a scumbag communist, a horrible racist, and an abortion radical with zero respect for human life. He votes against Rs 98% of the time. Don't be fooled because he stammered and stuttered and drooled a couple of nice things at you. Vote for a Republican who supports your ideas all the time. Fetterman is a POS in a filthy hoodie that stinks of gym bag and rotting meat. I met him last year and still can't get his stench out of my nostrils.

As a Democrat who not only voted for Fetterman but also send him a donation for his campaign, I am disappointed in some of his recent votes. Why is it the Democrats are the ones who have to bend and give on this voting issue while the Republicans use the power of the incumbency to deter the vote of the people. Sorry. Fetterman is wrong on this issue,

Anonymous said...

What voting issue? Voter ID? It polls at 80% for it. It’s one of the few things Americans agree on today.

Anonymous said...

No Wild card here! Fetterman!

Anonymous said...

You’re part of the problem, not the solution.

Anonymous said...

Tabia Sultana would be a perfect candidate.

Anonymous said...

Don’t miss the significance here. The SAVE Act/Voter ID and other guardrails to protect against election fraud are indeed popular among the majority of voters, yet this issue is being avoided by many members of Congress (both parties).

It’s pretty obvious, the objectors to passing the SAVE Act actually WANT the option of election misbehavior if it helps to preserve their privileged, but misguided shenanigans in office. They want a chokehold on real citizen determination of how we live our lives.

Anonymous said...

You're nuts- Fetterman is the only Dem making any sense lately. My Party has been taken over by a crazy fringe that has no ideas, just a hatred for anything Trump. Example is the current DHS shutdown- ICE is already funded till '28, but they want a dog and pony show to satisfy the Squad!

Anonymous said...

You're right- just because he supports Israel, the war in Iran, and voted for Mullin as DHS Secretary, doesn't make him a Trump supporter.

Anonymous said...

I fully expect Fetterman will face strong primary opposition if he runs again. Although it would not surprise me to see Susan Wild try to run in a statewide Democratic primary to replace Fetterman, I fail to see what she offers to a party trying to find candidates who offer a dynamic new image and an agenda that promises to be something more substantial than just anti-MAGA anger.

Anonymous said...

I’ve been asking Democrats to explain to me the prospect of getting Democrats back into control of our government. In other words, what are their plans to improve my daily life. No surprise, none of them have yet to offer an answer beyond simply “because Trump is bad.”

Anonymous said...

Wrong, hoofty. Democrats vote in lockstep. To make matters worse, 8-10 creepy Republicans always vote with them making any real progress nearly impossible.

Anonymous said...

8:16 Take your MAGA hat off so you can think properly before you post and make a fool of yourself with scripted maga cult silliness

Anonymous said...

Fetterman is too sick, has family problems, and should not run again. His seemingly uncritical support of Israel is the biggest red flag to me. But I still don't hate the guy that way many manage to.

One thing that our Dear Blogger hasn't mentioned, on another topic, is that the other Bernie's endorsement of Bob Brooks is not the first time Sanders has made a disastrous primary endorsement of a Manchurian candidate. Look up Tim Canova in FL.

Anonymous said...

Fetterman represents his constituents, not his party. We need more of this on both sides. This is why closed primaries and gerrymandering ruin our government. Party purity tests lead to uncompromising ideological gridlock in congress because nobody is allowed to give an inch. We are our own worst enemy.

Anonymous said...

Lets remember that during Fetterman's 2022 Senate campaign, Republicans heavily criticized John Fetterman as a "radical socialist" and "too dangerous" for office. Mehmet Oz labeled him the "poster boy of the radical far-left arm of the Democratic Party".

Let's also remember all the mean memes Republicans circulated on social media mocking his mental illness, his clothing and his overall goofiness. It now appears that the Republican party is now fawning all over him.

I supported Fetterman from the start, and still do. I predict that if Susan Wild primaries him, she'll win easily given the State if the Nation and the tide has finally turned on Trump.

I will not vote for Wild in the primary, but will vote for her in the general.

Anonymous said...

Wild? OMG - NO!!!! Go away and enjoy retired life. Leave us alone. 🙄

Anonymous said...

Senator Fetterman is an unexpected surprise. He has not been afraid to vote common sense as opposed to the nonsense that is the far left Democrat party. Susan Wild is too old. Senator Fetterman is succeeding in spite of his health challenges.

Anonymous said...

As a Progressive Democrat, I hope this is a joke.

I think our founding fathers would be really impressed by John Fetterman. You may not agree with every one of his votes, but he is exactly the kind of senator PA needs. Votes his conscious, crosses party lines occasionally, and has a level of candor we seldom see anymore. Highly re-electable and I think (maybe hope) he would hold up very well in a Dem primary.

I'm old enough to remember when obese, waddling scofflaw Susie Wild lectured us about health during CoViD and concern for the disabled as she stole their parking space. How soon we forget what a leader she was.

I voted for Fetterman, but when it comes to his siding with Republicans on certain issues, such as the voter I.D. act, I do not agree. I have no problem if it is simply showing my Driver's liscence for identity but that is not the case according to the "Save" act. From a quick look on google:
"Many of these documents are relatively uncommon in the general population. For example, only five states issue Real IDs that indicate U.S. citizenship.
As a result, most Americans who would need to provide documentary proof are likely to rely on one of two common pathways: an unexpired U.S. passport or a government-issued photo ID paired with a birth certificate"

For some, like myself, although being been born in the U.S., may find they did not have their birth certificate and may find the pathway to getting a Real I.D. neither easy or cheap. But my further fear is that this is just a ploy of Trump and his supporters to be selective either on obtaining the documentation or to use as an excuse to block Dem voters at the polling stations themselves. So to those who think I can show my current liscense to vote just as I have been when purchasing beer for the last 40 years...No.

Voter ID makes it harder for women to vote, especially women who don't have the means to get a passport or have their birth certificate updated. Or order a copy of their marriage licenses. Both cost money and time, none of which men need to do.

It doesn't matter to you, Scott Janney for State Senate, because you are also a white male. Women who have changed their name legally have a drivers license to prove it (outside of the 11% who don't have a license), but it doesn't match their birth certificate, so the hoops a person has to jump through to exercise their American right is just a ploy to keep women, and especially women of color, out of the voting booth. This is why you are going to lose to Lisa by a wide margin- you are like every other politician and only care about yourself.

Tabia Sultana is an agent of chaos, and is a dishonest human being who has no qualms about filing frivolous lawsuits and muckraking. Scott Janney only wants her to win the primary because he knows he can beat her.

Anonymous said...

That’s their whole platform, Trump bad. If he cured cancer but needed a yes vote in Congress they’d vote no.

Maybe she can explain why she thinks she’s so special that she can park in a handicapped spot.

Bernie O'Hare said...

I have no issue with voter ID. I do have a problem with proving citizenship. A woman who gets married and changes her last name typically updates her driver's license. I can tell you from my days as an election judge that women who change their last name do sometimes have issues when voting. We sometimes were unable to find them unless we looked under their maiden name. This issue is rectified pretty quickly.

If Fetterman runs again it won't be a a Democrat no way he wins that primary. He'll run as an independent or switch to the Republican party and run as a moderate Republican. I predict an open Dem primary. No way Susan wild wins, she lost her seat in part because she lost support from progressives because of her support funding Israel's war crimes in Gaza and her AIPAC funding. There has been a big shift in the Democratic party progressive base when it comes to politicians who have taken AIPAC money who support Israel's wars.

He’s troubled. He’s inconsistent, and his trust level is broken.

Reportedly, several states were handing out driver’s licenses like candy to all illegal, non-citizens. People who frequently couldn’t read or speak English. There are numerous auto fatalities as a result.

Flashing a driver’s license alone might not be thorough enough. They were simply handed out to all.

Susan Wild isn't fat. She just looks fat and sloppy because her pockets are stuffed with so much California cash. Also, doesn't Fetterman miss about 25% of Senate votes? He's essentially stealing. It's time for a workhorse vs show horse post. Please and thank you.

Anonymous said...

She couldn’t beat Little Lying Ryan and the candidate she back for Norco Executive got smoked. She is now backing a candidate for the seat she lost that is a nice lady but another bad candidate. She should hang up politics. She was more lucky than good and there is no way she can win state wide.

I don’t consider John Fetterman to be a moderate Democrat. His voting record and public positions don’t consistently align with what many would view as moderate Democratic values. While he occasionally votes with Republicans, that alone doesn’t make him a moderate—if anything, his positions can feel inconsistent or difficult to categorize.

I was also put off by his approach during COVID, particularly how he spoke about restaurant owners who were struggling to stay afloat under restrictions. To me, that came across as dismissive of the real challenges small businesses were facing.

While some people may not take issue with his casual attire, I see it as a lack of respect for the institution of the Senate.

I would welcome another run from Conor Lamb, whom I view as a more traditional moderate Democrat and someone I could support.

Anonymous said...

3:32 - Newsweek article lists 19 states and District of Columbia who haven given illegal aliens some sort of driver’s license, some marked not for federal ID, others with no such marking.

Bottom line, simply showing a state driver’s license might not be enough to verify an individual’s legality. It will all come down to the poll worker sitting at the table who could also be dealing with a voting roll book listing that itself could also be an inaccurate record. Do not judge an entire nation of states by what you assume to be true here in little, old Northampton County, PA.

Nationwide, our election system is, shall we just say, ‘unique’ among many other nations.

Fetterman is what's wrong with our elected leaders today. He is a Republican who has intentionally mislabeled himself as a Democrat. He looks ridiculous in that getto outfit. If you don't fit in as a senator or can't do the job at least look the part and wear a suit even if it's polyester.

Anonymous said...

Connor Lamb makes sense. Fetterman lost me when he came out as a rabid supporter of Israel. If you all want to keep dancing to Netanyahu's tune, then just stick with Don the Con. Apparently you all also are in on the solution looking for a problem- voter ID. Again, Don the Con has you riding his sore loser bullshit about the 2020 election. That's all the voter ID nonsense is about after all. Oh, and your boy just voted by mail himself in Florida. According to his own statement that makes him a cheater...oh wait, he is.

I don’t believe that. He was a liberal democrat that sold us on that platform. He definitely had a stroke and his morals changes. Just remember real democrats were pushing for Conor Lamb and all the liberal organizations said Fetterman was the one. Middle Dems didn’t vote that way. All I will say is liberal Dems that think you you be carful in the up coming elections. Don’t get your hearts broken twice.

I have adored John Fetterman from the beginning. He is my people in that he wears workout shorts and a hoodie everywhere to include the inauguration of the citrus Cesar. That’s a level of confidence that eclipses the pretense of suit/tie nonsense. I’ve been bent over by way more people in suits than I have people in hoodies and workout shorts. John doesn’t side with the democrats or the republicans. John sides with John. I don’t have to agree with all or any of his positions to like him. I want more people in public office like him. He is genuine. Many electeds lack that quality.

Never liked Conor Lamb. Strikes me as a phony, much like Gavin Newsom strikes me as a phony. It's weird with Fetterman. I liked him many years ago when I first met him. He turned me off as Lt Guv with his needless fights with state senate Rs. After his stroke, I refused to support him and actually voted for Oz. But I now like him. He's real. I hope he registers as an Indie and runs again.
