Lehigh Tp Police Praise NorCo 911 - "Your Voice Saves Lives"

On February 19, Lehigh Township police responded to a domestic disturbance involving an armed man who had pointed a gun at his wife and threatened to kill her. The situation was resolved without any violence. The suspect was unarmed, the victim was safe and police were unharmed. Police were quick to praise the NorCo 911 dispatcher who handled that call. The dispatcher, who was placed on speakerphone, spoke to the armed male and persuaded him to disarm and step outside with his hands in the air.

On Facebook, the Lehigh Tp Police Department said this: "This outcome is due in no small part to the professionalism, composure, and life-saving communication of the 911 dispatcher. 911 dispatchers are often the invisible lifeline of emergency response—they gather critical information, guide victims, support officers, and in cases like this, directly prevent violence. Their work happens behind the scenes, but their impact is felt on every call. ... Thank you to our dispatch partners—your voice saves lives."

Executive Tara Zrinski reported to NorCo Council last week that she had visited 911 and gave all dispatchers involved a certificate of appreciation. "I don't think we recognize how important and how difficult the 911 operator's job is," she commented. "They definitely deserve more than a certificate, but they do deserve appreciation."

She also indicated that the county intends to do a "media blitz" to attract more dispatchers. "They do such hard work and we need more of them," she said.

I will have more from Zrinski's detailed report tomorrow concerning the county response to the Hampton Hotel fire in Easton

It’s a tough job. You’re dealing with people in a panic, screaming ect kudos to this dispatcher for a job well done.

Pay them more then Tara. It's sad what they make vs. other counties.

"The suspect was unarmed ..."

Then how did he point a gun at anybody? I suspect he was disarmed by police. If you're going to be Tara's PR flak, you should tighten up your work. Her Ai does a better job.

The suspect was unarmed when he stepped outside. I believe this is from the Lehigh Tp police, And frankly, this story makes 911 look good, not Zrinski. I try to point out what is good and what is bad, You wouls prefer that I be only negative bc you are partisan

LOL.. you have no clue. And quite literally embarrassing to all ANONYMOUS folks when you speak such useless and uneducated information.

The male was most definitely armed! The dispatcher talked the man into putting the gun down before he stepped outside to be greeted by the police on scene. Give credit where credit is due and stop arguing nonsense. Must be one of those very part time “whackers” that hates the lime light not being on your out of shape self when you save a goldfish from a house fire. Grow up

*YAWN* The dispatchers are stuck with their current pay due to being in a bargaining unit agreement. One that is tied into many other jobs classifications in the county. I have all the love in the world for the dispatcher of this county and across the country however, even if paid double their pay they’d still say it isn’t enough.

Do they deserve more pay? Most likely, but complaining on this blog can’t help change a federally recognized legal document, a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Have a discussion when this CBA expires.
