NorCo GOP To Unveil Slate of County Office Candidates on Thursday

This Thursday, Northampton County Republicans will unveil a slate of candidates for both the open County Executive seat as well as five at-large County Council races. They will do so from the county courthouse rotunda at 2:30 pm.

As I previously told you, Tom "the Quiet Man" Giovanni is seeking the Republican nod for Exec. He currently represents the northern tier of the county (Region 4) on NorCo Council, which is easily its most conservative district. He is in his second term, and when he ran for re-election, Democrats offered no opposition.

In addition to Giovanni, John Brown and John Goffredo are two at-large Council members seeking re-election. Brown is a former county executive and currently works as Macungie's borough manager. Brown has missed quite a few council and committee meetings.

Goffredo is easily County Council's most outspoken and conservative member. Although I disagree with him on nearly everything, I like the energy and passion he brings to Council.

The other three Republicans running at-large are Sam Elias, Bethlehem police officer; Juan Martinez, owner of the Don Juan restaurants in this area; and Daniel Campo, a cargo airline pilot and Venezuelan immigrant.

Giovanni will square off in the general election against either Tara Zrinski or Amy Cozze, both of whom are seeking the Democratic nomination. The field of Democratic County Council candidates is still unsettled, but I hope to be able to report on that soon.

Okay fellow Republicans, lets go! We need to get out there and vote and keep these baby-killing Democrats out of office!!!

Avery Honorable and knowledgeable person. He is not a self-serving politician looking for another job. Best choice for County Executive.

Wow ! Love the Norco GOP playing identity politics. Although, it seems they’re missing an entire gender ?

Isn’t Elias that guy who got over on the County by speculating on a blighted property by the prison ?

Why do I always laugh out loud when you mention the NORCO GOP?

Cozze is going to glitter bomb Tom !!! Seriously Amy will demonstrate in numerous debates her high degree of competence. She will explain how she took the reins on purchasing the E&SS XL and why it works so well. Silent Tom will just stand there mesmerized by her Campaign Barbie looks and a razor sharp mind. Even if Tom weren’t stupid he’d be thunderstruck.

Brother Steve says this Slate is a bunch of Cucks.

I heard Lori Vargo Heffner has deals with both Amy Cozze and Tom Giovanni to be Director of Human Services if either of them should win. Now they both know they can’t trust her if it’s Cozy Cakes v. Silent Tom !

Is Tom Giovanni trying to emulate The Thinker?! After the lies he wrote about Lamont in his announcement everyone is calling him The Thinking Douchbag.

I'm happy to see the Republicans running quality candidates, since John Brown has to go. Macungie must've been desperate, for a Manager, since the guy never had a job in his life, prior to be elected Executive, and we all know how well that turned out!

The announcement fails to note that these candidates represent a wide spectrum of the community. It is you who makes this inference. Your need to point it out is itself a tad bigoted and is what some might call a microaggression. The truth is that it is a very formidable slate and Dems will hopefully respond with a good team themselves. If they don't they lose.

good one

Wow 5 tax raising republicans and a fool to lead them, "Giovanni" for the majority here who lack reading and comprehension skills. The last time the GOP had a majority they gave us a tax increase and a mass exodus of long term employees and long term knowledge due to the draconian cuts in health care. But why should anyone remember history i mean they elected BrownStain to county council so he could get at least one pension.

Officer Elias is a good man.

Didn't Zrinski vote to overpay him for it as well?

Tom is the only one that is qualified, and that should be evident to both D's and R's. TZ and AC are inept. TZ "keeps" her controller job only because there are qualified people below her, propping her up. AC, well, she is just hopeful, since losing her other job.

yes he looks real "special" if you know what i mean

Which candidates will pledge full cooperation with I.C.E.? Anything less than 100% fails to protect our families and is disqualifying.

"microaggressions"??? Only librals use that term!!

If Tara can be smart and disciplined, she will easily and carry 4 D’s with her.

She had no choice. The County owned the other half of the double and due to the slum like conditions Elias kept the property in the entire building needed to be razed.

With this upcoming stellar slate, the McClutz-Zrinskunk alliance will be smashed like a soused bloke on Carnaby Street. Bright days ahead for the Northampton County!

Here we go. The party of tolerance is bashing someone. Don't you realize by now that people are sick of your hypocrisy?

11:12, that's my point. The person who felt it necessary to point out the ethnic diversity did so in a negative way and if the shoe were on the other foot, would be screaming "microaggression."

Officer Elias is a good man, but real estate speculator Sunblest Elias will not get my vote.

I can't wait to see this cast of characters who are going to get their clocks cleaned in November. Prepare to bow to County Executive Tzara and the Juche order.

Please, anybody but the incompetent, opportunist Zrinski. Brown on the Republican side has to go too!

Love this slate! Make Norco Great Again!

She's neither smart or disciplined- she's taking her marching orders from McClure. She's Kamala, on a local level!

I’m pretty sure it was the county’s half that was caving in.

Amy Cozze will crush these fools. She make this MAGA slate look like they just got out of a clown car.

If Tara can be smart and disciplined, she will easily and carry 4 D’s with her.

So, that is silly. She has lost more elections than she has won. She was the highest vote getter on council once. Her controller race was against a no name, no campaigner. She has a cult following of women, since she blames all her failures on men and the patriarchy. She campaigned for years fulltime. So yeah, she did ok. The idea that she "dragged" anyone over the line is beyond silly it is moronic.
Let us compare character, history and ability with Mr. Giovanni and the man hater crazy person.

Please, vote for anyone but Zrinski!

Watching NorCo politics is like watching “The Howdy Doody Show.” Puppet masters McClure, Morganelli, etc. just pull the strings and everybody watches the puppets dance.

"She has lost more elections than she has won."

Just on a factual level, that's not accurate. She has lost one primary election (for state senate) while having won four primary elections. She's lost one general election (for state rep) and won three general elections.

Your analysis is spot on- Cusick was the more qualified candidate, by far, but chose not to campaign for some unknown reason. Had he campaigned just a little, we wouldn't be in this mess. I just can't get that vision of her with the bullhorn in Bethlehem, out of my head. Zrinski definitely has issues!

Brother Steve, for the sake of the county, stay away!

Decent candidates- finally no Steve Lynch, and please no John Brown- but I'd take them over Zrinski.
