House's Reaction to Obamacare Ruling? Fast and Furious

Just hours after the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare, the U.S. House voted to hold the Attorney General in contempt. This vote, largely along party lines, is ostensibly a reaction to the way the Justice Department handled Operation Fast and Furious, a botched gunrunning investigation. Numerous Democrats walked out on the vote.

Holder testified nine times before a House committee and provided thousands of pages of documents, but withheld some information on the grounds of executive privilege. So naturally, House Republicans are claiming some kind of cover-up.

LV Congressman Charlie Dent, among those who voted to hold AG Eric Holder in contempt, had this comment:

“H.Res. 711 affirms that in the United States, no citizen is above the law, including the Attorney General. While the consideration of this resolution was regrettable, it was also completely avoidable. Had Mr. Holder simply provided information to Congress about the Department of Justice’s involvement in the botched Operation Fast and Furious, today’s vote would have never occurred. However, rather than complying with a Congressional subpoena, Mr. Holder has chosen to conceal important information, preventing Congress from performing its intrinsic oversight responsibilities.

“President Obama once promised his Administration would be ‘the most open and transparent in history’, but it has unfortunately gone to incredible lengths to conceal information relating to Operation Fast and Furious - a botched scheme in which DOJ allowed Mexican drug cartels to purchase weapons in the United States, including those used in the murder of American border patrol agent Brian Terry. It is extremely disappointing the Administration’s desire to avoid political damage in an election year has overpowered the President’s pledge of unmatched government transparency.

“The American people, especially the family of Brian Terry, have demanded and deserve answers about the federal government’s role in Operation Fast and Furious. It is time for the Obama Administration to provide the information necessary to complete the Congressional investigation into this matter.”

Another well written response for Charlie by the NRC. Charlie may want to start to think about his district. The entire Party lockstep he has taken over the past few years, does not sit well in this District.

If not this election, maybe the next he will be held accountable for his using these extreme statements written for him and the other Republicans.

The 15th has never been extreme but more moderate. That South Carolina crap doesn't play in the land of thought.

Charlie is getting that angry bagger act going and is losing his moderate tradition.

He may be near the end of his office if he continues on this track.

A US agent and 200 Mexicans are dead. The story isn't over. There remain 1,300 Fast and Furious guns unaccounted for. Another US agent will die, and then another after that. Remember, a US border agent died here and evidence exists that Holder knew about the program one year before his oft repeated testimony. Holder lied. A US Border Patrol agent died.

Why don't they just leave him alone! The Republicans are always blocking everything, look at Allentown.

If Obama did not know anything about Fast and Furious ... why invoke Executive Privilege?

That is the move of a guilty man who is hiding something.

Exactly how many Democrats also voted to hold Holder in contempt?

(it was not zero)

1). He LIED to the committee, then tried to backpedal when documents came to light proving he lied.

2). He didn't claim executive privilege until it was apparent that he couldn't stall any longer.

Case closed.

This is what happens when you elect a person who has never worked for a living and is a CHILD of entitlement.
He is also a muslim and socialist
activist who believes in an entitlement society.

When does the Federal Government pass a law requiring all citizens (and illegal aliens whom Holder's Justice Department refuses to deport) to buy overpriced ice hockey tickets to Chairman Pawlowski's Progressive Liberal Palace of Sport?

DID THE BROOKS BROTHERS PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE?

I only hate Obama's white half. The half that can't break 100 on the golf course.

Dent and the rest of the Republicans should be embarrassed by this derisive, partisan act. Never before in history has this happened. Hell, the Democrats could have held Alberto Gonzalez in contempt on numerous occasions. Why didn't they? Because they aren't sore loser douchebags.

Meanwhile, the real story is coming out indicating that Issa and the Republicans have manufactured the entire controversy. Shocking.

"He is also a muslim and socialist"

Please try to be accurate when you attack someone. If you want to accuse Obama of being Muslim, as though that itself is wrong, please cite your source.

I don't give a rat's ass whether he is a vet or not. I'm a vet, too. His remark is still at the very least insensitive. As I indicated in my post, the landlord is Vietnamese, and McGeehan made several condescending remarks to him, noticed by me and several others. He should have stuck to the facts instead of making references to someone's ethnicity, which is irrelevant.

The article you link to debunks a Fortune story that claims Fast and Furious never happened.

Try reading what you link to.

Maybe the federal agent isn't dead either.

This Fast and Furious incident is getting out of control.Saw an A.T.A. supervisor on N.B.C. nightly news tonight. He said the guns were not intentionally not tracked.Did he think these guns would end up in A Church somewhere. Our Attorney General has handled this issue poorly from day one. He's over his head and he should go for incompetence
