Elected Officials Exclude Public in Back Room Meeting About Dixie

The final speaker during public comment at the lengthy June 6 meeting of NorCo Council, was Wilson Borough Mayor Donald R. Barrett Jr. During his allotted time, he invited elected officials to attend a back room meeting the following week concerning the Dixie TIF. I checked and this meeting was never advertised. It never appeared on aby municipal web page. Barrett can claim that no quorums were present, which would violate the state Sunshine Act. But how do we know that?

These back-room meetings do nothing more than plant seeds of distrust in local government. I have heard numerous rumors. One is that Wilson has been bought off with a $800,000 (legal bribe and that the school district sold out for $200,000.

Another is that the school district has raised numerous objections and might kill this.

What's the truth? Who knows? This is what happens when your local government meets being closed doors. On an issue this important, every meeting should be in public

I can only imagine how much has been kept from the public by some public officials. You are being a true investigator on this issue. have terre been numerous private meetings with county big wigs? How about that NDA pushed by McClure on a public project? Did any county officials sign it? There is the matter of money allegedly promised to specific organizations by the County Administration of one million for affordable housing.

This entire scam stinks!

Sounds mighty shady to me!!!

Washington politics comes to Wilson Borough.

I’m not surprised. The ongoing decline of American morals and ethics is at everyone’s doorstep now. It’s a place where there are no rules that can’t be disregarded. The end justifies the means.

Maybe the FBI should investigate Northampton County like it did Allentown. Definitely seems like some pay to play shenanigans going on.

Wilson/norco - we have the best politicians that we can possibly buy

I don’t blame the Mayor. This project will literally change the face of Wilson. 200 jobs. 155 million in investment. $500,000.00 in EIT and LST tax in the first year.

Mayor Barrett is a hero to the people of Wilson. He will improve the lot of all Wilson citizens with the revitalization of the Dixie !

Either they are corrupt and trying to push this scam over on the taxpayers or they are too stupid to know It's a scam. Either way, anyone who votes for this should be investigating just like the corrupt Matt Tuerk

Architecture firm on the Dixie project CHASM might be one of the finest in the Country !

Given that no one talks about Wilson Borough and it's never on the local media's radar. I'm wondering if Sunshine Act violations are common practice in Wilson. No one pays attention to Wilson. No one cares about Wilson. Of course, now Wilson is finally newsworthy and this project should be scrapped PA-RON-TOE. If Mayor Dumold Carrot, Jr and his council support this, they may be in the running for lowest collective I.Q. of a local elected body, rivaling that of Allentown City Council.

I agree. CHASM is highly qualified. They have numerous ongoing projects and awards. If they and not Bartee were the public face of this project, my criticism of the tax break would be more philosophical. They impress me very much, but it is still an inflated architectural fee.

The Dixie cup property needs to be dealt with, but this deal here stinks to high heaven. Time for the feds to start sniffing around, there seems to be a lot of wining, dining, and pocket lining going on.

THE SUNSHINE ACT IS GETTING BRIGHTER EACH TIME THE 3 GOVERNING BODIES LISTEN TO CERTAIN PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO STROKE AND NO VOTE.IF THEY KEEP PRESSING SKYLINE THE DIXIE WILL SET THERE FOR ANOTHER 20 YEARS DETERIORATING. IT'S GETTING TO BE LIKE THE MOB IS RUNNING THE SHOW. EACH GROUP IS TRYING TO FILL THERE POCKETS BEFORE THE PROJECT GETS STARTED. AGAIN,THIS PROJECT WILL NEVER GET OFF THE GROUND WITH CERTAIN PEOPLE INVOLVED
AS I SAID,THE SUN IS GETTING MUCH BRIGHTER WITH THE SUNSHINE ACT AS THESE PRIVATE MEETINGS TAKE PLACE WITHOUT ADVERTISING THE DATE,TIME AND LOCATION

I am not buying the Allentown investigation. Wrong person to investigate an HR matter. A prosecutor must have a case to prosecute. With political opponents calling the shots, motives are clear.

Wilson must have the most useless solicitor if the mayor is illegally, and very publicly, inviting certain parties to private meetings. What do they pay Stan Margle for? All I ever see him do is speak out of turn, cut people off, be a mouthpiece for the borough council, and talk to the media. He's too focused on everything other than doing his actual job, which is to be a lawyer. Where is the legal council? How did he allow this to happen? Wilson Borough deserves better.

If Panto can do it why can't Barrett?

6:36 & 6:49 was written by a shill for McClure

Skyline is a fraud and McClure is facilitating the fraud. He should be investigated. And any council person, school board member or the mayor of Wilson should be investigated if they go along with this fraud.

Stop the BS. Put it in writing and guarantee it! The paperwork of the project makes it clear they are not liable for anything they say or promise. They even go on to say in whatever they write may not be true.

Hard to believe the same Mayor and council people that got voted in for lying about past members now think it is ok to do the same thing they accused others of. Mayor " I read alot" Barrett should probably read the borough code for the description of the "weak" Mayor and maybe learn what his job description is..

The Mayor of Wilson is comparing himself to the Mayor of Easton. He has a long way to go before that happens. ( WILL NEVER HAPPEN )Wilson Council better wake up and tell their (weak) Mayor what his duties are which are absolutely nothing but a figure head.

Wilson should just give it up and allow Easton to annex it.

Wouldn’t a more transparent deal generate the same? And not sacrifice tif $$? And provide some legit reasonably priced housing in an area that desperately needs it?
