The Iron Lady Endorses Bell, Velez, Todd and Donovan

She's the Iron Lady of Allentown politics. A Democrat, she looks a bit like argaret Thatcher. Her politics are completely different, but Jeannette Eichenwald has the same steely resolve. She has been the sole voice on Allentown City Council to speak for open government and transparency. She is the sole small "d" Democrat. And at a news conference yesterday, she made it clear that she supports Carmen Bell, Kim Velez and Alfonso Todd in this year's race. She also supports Michael Donovan, who is running for Mayor as an Independent.

Here's why.

"They truly represent the ideals of democratic government. There should be discussion, opportunity for the citizens of Allentown to be part of this very crucial decision. It is their water. It is our water that is presently under consideration for being leased for close to five decades. Every opportunity that we had to allow for real citizen input beyond just merely a discussion at some of the meetings. First, we wanted to create a committee, and that was denied by the other members of City Council. We tried that twice. To have the discussion on the ballot of the water leasing; twice denied by other members of City Council.

"We need a City Council that will have open discussion, free discourse, for only in that way will we best serve the citizens of Allentown."

Meet Alfonso Todd's Campaign Manager

King Edwin may have Mike Fleck, but Allentown City Council candidate Alfonso Todd has a crackerjack campaign manager, too. Her name is Tallis, and she's two years old. She told me she's gonna' run Mike Fleck out of town on a rail and take over his consulting business. She then wrote her Dad's speech.

Alfonso Todd To Run For Allentown City Council

I've only met Alfonso once or twice, but he's all over the Lehigh Valley. Although you're most likely to find him marching up and down Hamilton Street, I've bumped into him at Pizza Joe's in Nazareth.

On Christmas Eve, he announced that he's running for Allentown City Council under the banner, "We CAN Do Better."

Allentown, PA — City Council Candidate Alfonso Todd is pleased to announce that he has launched his "We CAN Do Better" Campaign. Earlier in the month, he conducted a meeting with Allentown residents.

“[T]here are people in Allentown, PA that can actually think for themselves, do for themselves, and intend to show others how to do the same and empower themselves," Todd stated. "It would not be a bad thing to have a City full of progressive and self-sufficient individuals (no matter what their socio-economic status may be) who only have Allentown's best interests at heart. This will be needed so that we can truly represent and make our home a place that both "Natives" and "Transplants" can be proud of because the reality is that it is going to take all of us to bring Allentown back to where it should be and to take it to the greatness that it can be.”

H'll be running in May's primary. You can learn more at his webpage.
