Yesterday, I recklessly speculated on just who might be interested in serving Jeff Warren's unexpired term as a District III Council member. Joe Welsh, a Tara Zrinski cheerleader who speaks at every meeting, is one of the names I mentioned. Joe decided to address my gossip at last night's meeting of NorCo Council and had a few choice words for his critics as well.
"I might consider that position with the understanding that I would never run for it, and I would simply be interested in being, um, I think, as a caretaker for lack of a better word ... ."
After mentioning Joe as a possibility, several of my readers chimed in with some unflattering remarks. Joe addressed them as well.
"I did want to respond to some of the comments that were made, because it basically bled out a lot of the snakes named anonymous from under their rocks.
"The suggestion was made by multiple people that your meetings would be 12 hours long, if I were on this council. Now, as far as I know, I never got gonged by Mr. Kraft and this five minute timer. [Actually, he did, on the evening he spoke about ICE despite being concussed earlier that day]. So if I can coherently present issues to you in less than five minutes, I don't think that means that translates in any way, your meeting's been 12 minutes or 12 hours long.
"Another person suggested that I was a liberal joke, and one of them said that I would be even worse than Commissioner Warrant. If that was possible. So there you have it. I make friends wherever I go. But there used to be a saying that, I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name correctly. Unfortunately, a lot of these anonymous posters couldn't get a five letter last name right. And I think, you know, if you got a 20% error rate in spelling somebody's name, you always see because he signs his posts on that blog."
"Glad you're not trying to balance a budget."
Joe, if you think they treat you poorly, you should read what they say about me, lol, except I get it from everyone. Of course it's usually justified in my case.
I personally would prefer someone younger, like Jerry Seyfried.
lol! If they’re not razzing you that means they don’t like you Bernie! TZ though, I think you’re on her shit list.
ReplyDeleteCouncil will select someone just as blind, deaf and mute as they are. That way they don't lose control of mediocrity. NORCO is a train wreck.
ReplyDeleteMore than a decade ago I returned to fill a vacancy of an expired term for six months. At the time, two different lawyers researched the laws about my collecting a pension while I served out an unexpired six month term for a Council Person who moved out of the district. Both Attorneys legal opinions that State Law that I could collect my pension while filling an unexpired term on Council. Because of my Background, Council asked me to be their representative on a special Committee to settle a lawsuit. I agreed and served, with no salary, for one and a half years to fulfill the mandate of the Courts. I asked for no compensation. I did it because I felt it was the right thing to do. Since 1978 I have served as a volunteer on many Boards and Authorities, all without compensation. I don't do it for the money, I do it for the love of serving and giving back to my community.
DeleteJerry is well qualified, but a hard no on the double dippers. You should not be able to collect a county pension and paycheck while serving on Council.
ReplyDeleteIs he still concussed?
ReplyDeleteLol, I think so.
DeleteIn one appearance Joe Welch proves why he should not be on County Council. First, he wasted the “Governing Body’s” time responding to anonymous trolls on this blog. Anybody who reads our comments and takes them to heart does not belong in a position of authority. With that said, Welsh is a perfect candidate to climb into that clown car. Plus, Tara does need one vote for her 5 mil tax increase.
ReplyDeleteJoe W and Tara deserve each other.
ReplyDeleteObviously struck a nerve with Joe. His overwhelming left wing thoughts and words prove he truly would be a hazard not a help. Please no, council. We will have enough problems as the “newly elected” PA state house/senate do just about anything Shapiro asks them to do ($15 minimum wage will kill PA to start). It’s truly apparent that these were revenge votes against a President and the federal House and Senate people were told are bad for this country. Hopefully the disrespectful, dangerous protests at Mackenzie’s office will cease now. What will all of those paid protesters do now? Anyway, please no Joe for District 3. We’ve had it tough enough with “Commissioner Warren” (remember how he defended those running Gracedale?) There must be someone out there in District 3.
ReplyDeleteHe made the very valid point that many of you are cowards with no spine. I allow anonymous comments bc I sometimes learn things I would not otherwise know. Suicides at the jail, Morton's resignation, etc. Of course, I need to check them out but that is the reason it is allowed. And when someone starts to take an active part in government, as Joe has, they are open to attack. But I have little respect for cowards who make anonymous personal attacks. Joe is absolutely right to call you snakes. And, guess what? If you think a $15 min wage will "kill" Pa, you're frickin' cRaZy. W. Va. has a $15 min wage. I have no issue with someone's national or state politics so long as they are dedicated to county issues. The only think that would worry me about Joe is that (1) meetings would be 12 hours long (sorry, Joe) and (2) he has been a Zrinski cheerleader.
DeleteWe always benefit from independent voices and if Jerry is no longer interested, I think it would be great to get someone younger and who has an interest in the county.
Jerry would be an excellent choice age is not a factor Jerry’s around the same age as Trump and is in better shape by looks
DeleteWith the poor quality of candidates that were recently elected, nothing would surprise me. As far as Joe, he'd be a poor choice & a rubberstamp for TZ.
Delete10:35, Jerry is in excellent shape even though he had a bike accident recently while racing and did a header right over the handlebars. His head cracked the pavement wide open. Fortunately, the bike is still in good shape.
DeleteHe wouldn't be a good choice.
ReplyDeleteAnybody would be better than Warren.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great. We could start every meeting with a song and a dance. And reciting poetry!!! Let's do it. Gotta be better then hearing how gracedale is falling apart at the seems. Or how the jail can't hire COs so they just got rid of the entrance exam. So let's hire people unqualified for the job so we can have more issues there. What's another suicide or two. Doesn't matter if they can COUNT...
ReplyDeleteGet them in there.
Can we just hope for an early Christmas miracle...
It's a reshuffling of the hack deck. Nothing changes.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the County in such a terrible spot- and it starts at the top.
