A good many of you are probably acquainted with the old proverb, "Speak softly and carry a big stick – you will go far." If a man continually blusters, if he lacks civility, a big stick will not save him from trouble, and neither will speaking softly avail, if back of the softness there does not lie strength, power. In private life there are few beings more obnoxious than the man who is always loudly boasting, and if the boaster is not prepared to back up his words, his position becomes absolutely contemptible. So it is with the nation. It is both foolish and undignified to indulge in undue self-glorification, and, above all, in loose-tongued denunciation of other peoples. Whenever on any point we come in contact with a foreign power, I hope that we shall always strive to speak courteously and respectfully of that foreign power.
President Donald Trump is the very kind of "obnoxious man" that Roosevelt described 125 years ago. He is always "loudly boasting," engages repeatedly in "undue self-gratification" and the "loose-tongued denunciation of other peoples." But he always backs away and his position has become "absolutely contemptible."
Unlike most of my readers and the country as a whole, I completely supported the attack on Iran. But not a half-assed attack that has put us in a worse position than we were in before we did anything.
On Friday, Trump brayed, "“The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II.” But as he has done too many times now, he has backed away, claiming that the perimeters of a "deal" exist."
This is news to Iran, which is now claiming that he has backed away from hollow threats "and presented his retreat to the world as a favor."
He has made himself and this country a joke.

Trump's continuous threats to not only Iran but other adversaries has led to the inevitable lack of credibility. This policy has been underway for decades by other presidents, but it is now obvious that the U.s. no longer has the power to enforce those threats as it once did, or that actually following through will result in global chaos and economic misery.
The world has changed dramatically if slowly, U.S. power was backed up by a massive manufacturing base and a dollar that was " as good as gold" Neither still apply, we are left with threats of raw military power and it is no longer working. A change in policy is needed not more war or threats of war.
He was a joke LONG before attacking Iran.

I voted for Trump because Kamala is a mentally defective drunk. But Trump lied about endless wars. He started a war with Iran that he lost badly while completely tanking the economy. Kamala Harris is currently leading the 2028 field. She now supports packing the Supreme court, abolishing the electoral college, and making DC and Puerto Rico states. You rail against Trump, while your party wants to destroy the country. Trump is done, the day after the election he’ll be lame duck. I’m not a fan but he’s still better than open borders, packing the court, defunding the police and Pentagon, and implementing socialism.

It does matter! Campaigning for 2028 begins in about 15 months. The choice will be between America First and Globalism. There’s huge difference. It’s between maintaining our national sovereignty and our unique Constitution, or losing self-determination of our future under a more “United Nations-like” existence.
Now is the time to evaluate likely candidates as already shaping up within both parties.. The Vance, Rubio, etc. versus the hard liberal California options of Newsome, Ocasio, etc. Obviously, more names to come soon.

Democrats offered me Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris as alternatives to Trump. I rightfully said no thank you all three times.

25,811 in a single week. It was about 300,000 a year and a half ago.
The Democrat Socialists and Communists are actively making themselves a legitimate component of the next presidential election. This should not be taken lightly by either Republican of Democrat voters.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid 7:30am. The "$100 billion given to Iran" was the unfreezing of Iranian foreign assets that were locked in international banks as a result of global economic sanctions. It was not a direct payment or gift from the U.S. government, but rather IT WAS IRAN'S OWN MONEY much of which came from previous oil sales.
