Lower Saucon Tp Police charged Robert Daniel Foell, age 72, with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and marijuana-related offenses at a DUI checkpoint on Mountain Drive North on August 9.

Colonial Regional Police and Salisbury Tp Police provide a PennDOT refresher on school bus safety:

Upper Macungie Tp Police announce OPERATION BEE SAFE. Residents are encouraged to nominate their child’s bus stop by contacting Lieutenant Peter Nickischer (pnickischer@uppermac-pd.org or 484-661-5911). Once nominated, your child’s bus stop will be added to a list of rotating stops monitored by patrol officers in marked (police car with exterior emergency lights and police decals) and unmarked police cars, as well as officers on foot. Officers committed to this program are instructed to:

1) Ensure the safety of children and parents at every stop.
2) Monitor the stop for school bus flashing red light violators.
3) Cite and prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law.

Bethlehem Tp police announce the untimely death on August 31 of K-9 Hugo, a six year old Belgian Malinois-German Shepherd mix. He served with the Bethlehem Township Police Department since 2015. Before that, he was a military bomb dog who served and protected U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

Wilson Borough Police announce a School Resource Officer to patrol the Wilson Area School District on a full-time basis. "This officer will not only help to create a safe learning environment for the students and staff, but will also serve as a liaison between law enforcement and the children of the school district."
