Weekly LV Police Blotter

Below is a weekly LV police blotter. If I missed something, please provide a link. If you have a comment that contributes, please share. But I remind you that this thread is not the place for pious condemnations. Local police are concerned about one of their most important roles - the safety of school children

Lower Saucon Tp Police charged Robert Daniel Foell, age 72, with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and marijuana-related offenses at a DUI checkpoint on Mountain Drive North on August 9.

Colonial Regional Police and Salisbury Tp Police provide a PennDOT refresher on school bus safety:

Upper Macungie Tp Police announce OPERATION BEE SAFE. Residents are encouraged to nominate their child’s bus stop by contacting Lieutenant Peter Nickischer (pnickischer@uppermac-pd.org or 484-661-5911). Once nominated, your child’s bus stop will be added to a list of rotating stops monitored by patrol officers in marked (police car with exterior emergency lights and police decals) and unmarked police cars, as well as officers on foot. Officers committed to this program are instructed to:

1) Ensure the safety of children and parents at every stop.
2) Monitor the stop for school bus flashing red light violators.
3) Cite and prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law.

Bethlehem Tp police announce the untimely death on August 31 of K-9 Hugo, a six year old Belgian Malinois-German Shepherd mix. He served with the Bethlehem Township Police Department since 2015. Before that, he was a military bomb dog who served and protected U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

Slate Belt Regional Police remind you to Text SLATEBELTPD to 888777 to be in the "know" for important, official information that may affect your commute and/or lifestyle within Slate Belt Regional PD coverage areas. "We honor your privacy and won't inundate you with nuisance texts...just important topics and timely emergency information from us. Messages can be delivered by email, text message or land-line phone."

Wilson Borough Police announce a School Resource Officer to patrol the Wilson Area School District on a full-time basis. "This officer will not only help to create a safe learning environment for the students and staff, but will also serve as a liaison between law enforcement and the children of the school district."

  1. I appreciate this weekly spot, as it was always my favorite in the local newspapers.

  3. I am uninterested in comments about specific cases unless they really add something. I hate when people weigh in on others they do not know. You can also provide links to stories I have missed.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
