As part of President Donald Trump's attempt to rein in federal spending, the US Dep't of Agriculture has cut $1 billion in funding for food at schools, daycare centers and local food banks. At last night's NorCo Council meeting, Executive Lamont McClure advised that he has repurposed CDBG funding for low to moderate income census tracts to provide some relief to local pantries. This includes $10,000 check to the Slater Center in Bangor, the LINCs Family Center in Wilson Borough and a food bank in Pen Argyl.
"Each food bank does not know how they're going to make up for the cuts," said McClure. He added that the county would "continue to scrounge," but "we won't be able to replace federal funds."
He suggested that Council might want to consider grants to food banks from its contingency fund at the end of each year.

Lamont McClure provides relief to local panties is an all timer!
This is good news. Addiction to federal dollars has put us $36 trillion in debt and our children's futures in jeopardy. Adults who support non-stop foreign wars, like Bernie and his Ukraine obsession, caused this. They pretended that there would never be a reckoning. Sex change operations for felons, studies on lesbian obesity, billions to universities with multi billion dollar tax-free endowments and letting 20 million illegals invade the country have stolen from our children. The country is broke. It's been in the news.
The 'Christians' now running the federal government don't see any value in feeding the hungry or healing the sick.
JFC! tRump is such a POS! Dumbest person in all the land!
One of the hallmarks of McClure’s administration has been action. They don’t always get it right, but they move forward trying to help people.
Glad to see McClure is taking care of the local “panties”.
DCED Director Tina Smith is a gem. She has done so much good in Norco with her little sidekick Frank Brooks !
This is an obvious bit of campaigning on McClure’s part and precisely why NorCo should pass a “resign to run” law for county elected officials running for non-county offices.
So he repurposed $10,000 and suggested that council uses funds form ITS contingency fund at the END of the year?
McClure is not a serious person and only cares about the issue to the extent he can use it for his own political gain.
Maybe they could get Democrat wannabe governor Stacy Abrams to kick in a billion from the 2 billion Biden GAVE her to build up that $100 non-profit fraud.
i love local panties
Good lord, you wrote “relief to local PANTIES”.
Sorry about the typo, lol.
It's never "good news" to take food out of the mouths of our children.
Wtf. This is a joke...please tell me one penny this place has lost already. The federal government new leadership has been in office for 100 days.
This is Lamont trying to look like a hero for his new adventure in life. Well it isn't working. If he really wanted to help he could pay his employees a livable wage so they didn't need food pantries. He is just using his position as county executive and the county money to try to win Votes.
This county employee will do everything to make sure the truth comes out about this POS. And you giving him ink on this.
And after last night Amy all the way. Finally someone who is speaking with some common sense.
@5:19 - You are the epitome of a true magot clown! We are a country who cares for our neighbors, used to be until people like you were given a free hate pass...
There is no greater hate than christian love....good for Mcclure stepping in with these pantries. Where these grants are going, i bet many of the recipients voted for this administration
Some deranged posts on here, claiming McClure is playing politics or we need to cut services for our "forgotten people" to address our debt. Pathetic stuff. I thought we were all about America First? Doesn't that mean we support our own people?
We are the richest country in the history of humankind. We don't have a spending problem (except when it comes to the military budget). We have a REVENUE PROBLEM! We don't tax the rich. Raising taxes on the rich and on corporations would allow us to invest in education, research, and infrastructure, and take care of our people. Instead Trump cuts basic services -- food assistance. Pfft. Trump and his mega-rich cabinet are only for the billionaires.
Bill Clinton killed Aid to Depend Children.
Obama signed the budget with the largest cut in the history of the Food Stamp Program.
Lies, misinformation, lies, that’s all you tell.
Facts: it’s documented that at most there’s no more than 12-13,000,000 truly “illegal” persons within the country! And that’s all time! Your “king” has you believing 20,000,000 crossed the Rio Grande in four years time!
National debt! National debt is a positive thing if moderated. It’s like having a balance on your credit card and paying at least the minimum each month. Not saying $36 trillion is good but it’ll NEVER be to $0 either. Relax, your life won’t notice the difference if it does drop which it won’t. Trump wants the ability to take it to $40 trillion during his 4 years. Fox News must not report that.
Most of those items you listed were never paid for by government dollars. Again you are only getting bits and pieces from Gox News. If you research non-bias news outlets you’ll get the truth.
And you vote? Wow what a sad world we live in today.. educate yourself, it’s kind of embarrassing.
7:17, Resign-to-run? Funny how I did not hear that argument when Mackenzie ran for Congress. He opted against seeking re-election and running for two offices simultaneously. That is exactly what McClure has done.
Instead of resign-to-run, which discourages people of limited means from seeking public office, I'd prefer to see a law that prevents people from running for two offices simultaneously. Pick one.
No question McClure is playing politics, but it is the right thing to do.
The federal government (specifically the US Department of Agriculture) abruptly cancelled $1 billion in assistance to local food programs (13 million of which was specifically designated to purchase food from Pennsylvania farms to give to food banks) via the Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program and the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement.
That was money that was already in the budget for 2025 for these food banks and was cut in April, during the first 100 days of Trump's administration. These food banks are no longer receiving the money. So yes, "this place" has already lost money. Our farmers are losing money as well.
You know, 12:15 PM, you could do a huge public service here by listing a few of the ‘non-biased’ news sources you used to become so smart. Obviously, your intellectual bravado doesn’t come first hand. All you can do here is parrot what you heard someone else claim. Your statements have no more worth than statements made here by others.
For me, the information source that leads to the greatest amount of LIKELY truth is the website Conservative Treehouse. That’s the best jumping off point I’ve ever encountered. Yes, there are still trolls there, too, but they usually fail in the face of actual hard evidence posted to the contrary.
According to the Biden administration we were at full employment. Couldn’t find enough workers. So why is so much welfare, food stamps, WIC, section 8 ect needed?
Those programs were created to be a hand up but have become a generational lifestyle. They are designed in such a fashion that everyone gets trapped on them because of strict income limits. Nobody wants to go over the limit or you lose all the aid. The whole system should be revamped to encourage weening off of assistance instead of trapping people on it.
As far as this post, this is McClure playing politics more than caring about anyone. It’s actually pretty smart but realize what it is.
Nothing prevents you from buying an extra $25 in groceries and donating that to the food bank. Anyone complaining who doesn't help out a little but has the means to has no right to complain.
Show me the proof you MAGA people should wear long fake noses to go with your red hats
Wow, Bernie. Can’t apparently widen your vision. Handouts are part of socialism. Wake up!
Google is your friend. One of Clinton’s most famous lines: “the era of big government is over” look it up.
The top 20 percent carry this country. The bottom 50% pay no federal income tax at all. Look it up.
you have some really shitty commenters on here. I bet most of them are recieving some kind of free check from the govt also, trailer trash MAGA dipshits
We don’t tax the rich Lol! The top 1% pay 40% of the federal in come tax. The bottom 50% pay no federal income tax. Facts matter!
1. Concentration of Income Taxes:
The top earners in the U.S. shoulder a significant portion of the federal income tax burden.
The top 1% of earners paid 40.4% of all federal income taxes in 2022, exceeding the amount paid by the bottom 90% combined.
The top 10% of earners paid 76% of federal income taxes in 2021.
In 2021, the top 20% of earners paid approximately 84% of federal income taxes.
Source is the tax foundation and the IRS.
This is correct. Clinton did welfare reform as part of a budget package deal with speaker of the house Newt Gingrich. I’m not a MAGA person, just a former democrat disgusted at how left the party has gone.
We’re at full employment, Biden had the hottest economy ever why are so many dependent on food banks?
County workers aren’t prisoners. They are free to work somewhere else, somewhere that may have more expensive benefits and probably won’t offer a pension.
McCluless is all about politics
I'm sorry but even though this is a good move, the way he goes about it is obviously campaigning and branding. Everything is always "Lamont G. McClure did X" on county social media, and he's going around for photo ops with a giant check like he's Publishers Clearing House.
What 4:29 PM states is ABSOLUTELY correct! People at the very top income levels are responsible for paying the majority of all income taxes collected. This FACT goes against the common misbelief of most everyday (and likely) Democrat voter. Too many members of that political party need to have a ‘boogie man’ to blame for every shortcoming they see. Class warfare is an important part of their philosophy.
Speaking of McClure and politics. One local political consultant believes the GOP got very lucky when McClure decided to not seek a third term. His theory is that since McClure’s defeat of Brown he’s positioned the Democratic Party closer to the Center of where Northampton County voters are. (Tax cuts, reducing the size of government, etc.) And, that the Democrats haven’t really lost since ‘17 and Lamont’s leadership of the Democratic Party in Norco took hold. I guess his theory is going to get tested now.
Who goes to food banks? Mostly women with young children whose dead beat dads don't pay enough support and elderly whose social security is not enough to live on. Low paid workers on minimum wage and those who are laid off. And by the way, you only get what they can offer and it ain't fancy. Many require proof to show the person is in need.
agree with you, bernie. taking food away from those who need it is horrible. why are people so happy to see their neighbors go hungry?
4:29 -- yup the top end of the income bracket pays more because they can afford more. They got what they have because of the American system, and they can pay more into the system to keep it healthy. The taxes the rich pay seem like a lot, but relatively speaking, they pay very little. How many private jets do they need?
And lookee here:

@ 2:05… I spoke cold hard truths, not “what I heard from others.” You need to simply look the information up. But since your television also only leans far right I’m sure you won’t learn the truth. Sad world and you are equally embarrassing by assuming I don’t have facts, promise I do!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! I second this statement. I doubt many get handouts but I’m sure they are starting to regret voting for the “King”. This country is an embarrassment, the world laughs, people will suffer, while the “King” believes photo shopped pics are real and that the Declaration of Independence “INDEPENDENCE” means love to him.. clown never even read it. Maybe it’s his early stages of dementia talking, this should get fun.
@ 2:05… see below

(I’m sure you’ll claim all are biased, but there is dozens of other media outlets covering the same, oh he’s already blown through or will blow through this years budget by BILLIONS!) real fiscally sound the “King” is! lol
Immigrants, see below

That’s a good start! Again I’m sure they are bias, everyone but Fox News is I’m sure. Point is if enough report on it doesn’t it seem like it’s actually factual unlike the “King” says?
