Bob Eyer |
Three lawyers - Jeremy Clark, Bob Eyer and James Fuller - are running for the judicial seat that Judge Anthony Beltrami is leaving at the end of the year. It's known as Common Pleas Court, a court of original jurisdiction, established under Pa.'s Constitution. These judges handle it all, from slip-and-falls to first degree murder. Unlike most elected public offices. judges serve for 10 years because their first obligation is to the constitution and the law as opposed to mob rule. If they want to stay another 10, they can simply seek retention. Once elected, a judge in most instances will be on the bench until he goes tets up or turns 75. There is no overhead, and the salary in NorCo is $229,393 this year. It's tied to the cost of living, and goes up automatically every year. Judges get excellent benefits, including health care and a defined benefit pension that vests in just 10 years.
Of the three candidates in this hunt, Clark and Eyer have cross-filed. Fuller is seeking only the Republican nomination.
As a registered Democrat, I can only vote for Bob Eyer or Jeremy Clark. Both are excellent and well-respected lawyers.
In advance of receiving my mail-in ballot, I've received three mailers from Eyer and two from Clark. I also received a text message from his campaign. There has been no negative campaigning.

Jeremy Clark |
I am reluctant to give him the kiss of death, as I am often correctly accused of doing, but I'm going with Eyer. Over the past 33 years, he's been an assistant DA, served under former GOP Exec John Brown as Chief Public Defender, and currently is the First Assistant DA. He also has been in private practice, and once successfully represented one of my customers after I blew a title search. He was and might still be a runner, and I sometimes ran in raced with him. I'll never forget how he'd stop periodically to light up a cigarette.
Don't get me wrong. I like Clark, too. He's a combat veteran who served in the 82d Airborne, which happens to be the unit in which my daughter served. I've seen him at Easton City meeting and have also watched him represent clients seeking plan approvals and zoning relief. So, I respect a vote for him as well.
I'm unable to vote for James Fuller unless he gets the GOP nod. Although he is personable and has plenty of experience as a criminal defense attorney and as a prosecutor, it's in Monroe County. I would prefer a judge who has experience in this county, not somewhere else.

Great write up, I will be voting for Clark. He knocked on my door a few weeks ago, and we spoke for about 10 minutes. Eyer, although a good guy himself is part of the old guard of Morganelli and Baratta etc. Younger blood is what our Judicial branch needs.
Vote Clark !
Side by side, their legal experience is very similar, Eyer being significantly older has done it longer. For me the tie breaker is the military service of Clark. My vote is for Clark.
Honestly, this bench is in need of someone from the outside. NorCo has become a hotbed of nepotism and favoritism.
Eyer is the better qualified.
Something in Clark's smile makes him untrustworthy
Looks more like a Mona Lisa face than a smile to me!
Clark is my choice. Eyer only moved to Northampton County last year to run for judge.
Clark was a divorce master, I believe, so that seems like more relevant experience to me.
Clark gets my vote!
Clark would be a good choice considering that he was one of Judge Beltrami's judicial law clerks
I don’t want a judge so closely connected with the Sistrict Attorney. I received a mailer yesterday that Eyer is endorsed by The DA. Will he remain fair?? I’m not sure. I will vote Clark
As a Democrat, I can't vote for Clark. He's apparently deleted it from the internet now, but until a few months ago he listed longtime Federalist Society membership (a very conservative legal organization deeply integrated into the modern Republican party -- they basically choose the nominees for Trump to fill federal judicial seats) among his legal experience.
Good enough for me. Vote Clark
That was when he was in College. Stop!!! that goofy NORCO Dem photographer tried that at 2 meetings and was crushed. Eyer moved to Norco just to run.
Clark is by far the best candidate
Although I like both Jeremy and Bob very much, my vote is for Clark. Clark's resume stands out far more in my opinion. Bob has jumped from position to position and really hasn't left any sort of memorable mark on any of them. He is also part of that "clique" (McClure, Morganelli, Baratta, etc.) of those who like those closest to them to benefit. I much prefer someone who can stand on their own and make their own decisions. Lastly, wasn't he the one who signed off on all that allegedly fraudulent overtime for the three staff members at the DA's office?
Which raises a bigger question. The Lehigh County DA's office attorney staff consists of a majority of Lehigh County residents. I believe the Northampton County DA's office attorney staff has very few Northampton County residents. I know it isn't legally required, but wouldn't it make sense to have more in-county staff members? I know NorCo inherited a bunch of the Lehigh Co. misfits at the beginning of 2024, which doesn't help the situation.
Bernie, will you confirm that Eyer only recently moved to Northampton County? If true, I will have to rethink my support. I don’t like opportunists — didn’t vote for Panella because he didn’t pay his dues and this matter would make me think less of Eyer.
Eyer also signed of on all of the stolen hours in the DA’s office that led to the firing of 2 staff members.
I’m voting for Jeremy Clark. He has the best resume and is a true county resident. He also handled a civil matter for me some time ago and did so outstandingly.
Excellent points, 2:30 pm. The average voter, though, knows nothing about the OT debacle due to a lack of coverage. The death of newspapers is the death of democracy.
Half of the staff in LCDAO is out of county. Your "beliefs" are clearly misguided in terms of both counties' DA Offices. Research before you print, misfit.
Clark
Seeing ActBlue as a place to donate towards Clark’s campaign is enough to give pause.
Clark for sure. He was an Infantry Platoon Leader in the 82nd Airborne and did a combat tour in Afghanistan. Plus his time as a divorce master was excellent
Confirm that Eyer only recently moved to Northampton County? Good question.
According to the Recorder of Deeds office, online public records indicate Mr. Eyer purchased his current Northampton County home less than a year ago. Prior to that he owned a place in the City of Allentown which was sold last year. Prefer a judge who has been an actual Norco taxpayer for longer? Clark is the better choice.
Attorney Eyer recently moved to Northampton county, presumably so he could run for judge here.
Attorney Clark has been a long time county resident. Following his military service, attorney Clark was one of Judge Beltrami's law clerks. He has served in a quasi-judicial role as a divorce master, and is a past president of the Northampton county bar association.
Attorney Clark gets my vote as the most highly qualifed candidate.
Helpful post and commentary.
Need more conservative Judges.
Are you sure you aren't thinking of Jeffrey Clark?
