Updated: McClure to Unveil NorCo's Proposed 2024 Budget Today

Today, at 10 am, Northampton County Exec Lamont McClure will unveil his proposed 2024 budget from the  County Council meeting room on the third floor of the county courthouse. You can watch it in person or online

Northampton County's spending plan last year was a half billion dollars. In  his nearly six years as Executive, he has never proposed a tax hike. He actually reduced taxes once.

I will tell you more about the budget after listening to McClure's address.

UPDATED: As most of you know, I'm an idiot. The budget presentation is a week from today, not today.

  1. Thanks to the Brown era tax increase, massive real estate development and all the free federal money, he looks like a hero. Of course, in order to be Executive for life he won't support real wages for employees or any spending other than pet projects or his PR events.

No one really hates the guy, it is just the facts. Also, it is necessary so as to balance your over-the-top love of lawyer Lamont.

  3. Tax raisers make it easy for their successors to skate. Brown raised. McClure skates. And so it goes. Goldsmith did this in Easton, taking the millage right below the state limit. But Sal stayed so long he had to raise every fee he could find and tax county workers along the way. He gets to say he didn't raise taxes, though.
