Morganelli and Zappalla were far ahead of Shapiro in this debate. Although Morganelli was sharper on some questions (in particular "three consumer issues" where Zappalla could only think of two). And Morganelli made one great point about the Sandusky charity that Corbett okayed giving money to when he full well knew the guy and charity were being investigated by his previous office.
As for Shapiro, this guy in less than 22 months of getting his J.D. was elected to the U.S. House, so how long did he ever practice law? It's doubtful he took the bar exam the day after graduation. And he went to Georgetown where most end up as legislation lawyers. Shapiro constantly named dropped Pennsylvania Commission on Crime & Delinquency (PCCD). But PCCD mostly handles deputy sheriff and state constable training and certification. It's not like they over see Act 120 police departments. That would be Mpoetc. And the courts are overseen by AOPC. Basically PCCD Chairman is a fancy way of saying "Law Librarian".
Shapiro is the sole politician of the three. Neither Morganelli nor Zappala hhave any interest beyond that office, and both have ideas on what they would do as the state's chief law enforcement officer. Shapiro is looking for nothing more than a springboard to launch a campaign for Governor or the US Senate.
As I've noted in several of my posts, i support John and even contributed to his campaign. I'd love to see the best DA I've ever seen get elected. The fact that Rendell, Wolf and Obama have come out for Shapiro is somewhat scary. He'll preserve the pay-to-play structure while pretending he has integrity. But I don't think any of the Ds will be elected. This position will go back to the GOP.
