So How Do You Handle the Sting of Defeat?

On Friday night, before a packed gym at Allen High School, Central Catholic High School's basketball team was humbled in a quarter-final loss in the District 11 championship AAA race. The team lost in a Holy War against Becahi, which turned things around after winning only three games last year. Becahi will face #1-seeded Pottsville on Tuesday night, but Central's season is over.

It was a tough season for my grandson, who was usually 6th or 7th off the bench. But he never complained and gave it everything he had in his limited opportunities to play. So how did he react when his season suddenly ended?

By going to a basketball game.This weekend, he visited West Virginia and from there, bounced over to watch the Michigan Wolverines and Central Catholic alumnus Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman play in Maryland.

In a matter of days, his AAU season starts.

    nice group of sophomores that got caught up in the gauntlet of what is very solid EPC this year. Better days ahead. Are they playing AAU together?

    Not sure about all of them, but three or four of of them were on the same Blue Chips team last year. That team also includes Jake Bartholonew from Parkland, Mikey Esquilin from Whitehall, Ryan Young from Beca, a dude from Emmaus and Trevor Storm from Esston. The team included Central's Kevin Kern and Sam and Jay Vaughan.

    Yeah, well public school coaches keep a close eye on your players. The Catholic school minions are already approaching kids whose seasons have ended about coming on board next season. The danger in playing for Catholic schools is they will recruit right over you. Only five spots and one ball. Better be something special.

    I am not going to debate your anonymous complaints about recruiting in a post about my grandson, of whom I am very proud and from whom complainers like you could learn something. If you want me to host a discussion about recruiting, I will do so, but will require everyone who wants to comment to post a name next to their accusations. But that conversation will not take place on this thread.

    lol 10:40 get lost you pos. when cchs has continual losing seasons nobody talks about recruiting. I can name you numerous kids who literally lied or moved so the could play/ wrestle, on a few of our high school teams in the area and the so called sports reporters in the area knew it as well. If you have proof of recruiting, turn it over and I hope that CCHS and or Beca gets crushed . The last time cchs heard the issues of recruiting was when they won a state title in football. once the assholes found out that 90% of the core played with each other since they were 5 years old, their recruiting claim held no water. If you have evidence, turn it over. If the other teams have evidence, turn it over. I know that we have many coaches and media hacks who love to make these claims, but never follow up with real evidence.
    Isn't school choice amazing. Isn't being able to attend a school that has a 99% graduation rate amazing?

    Dat is a solid young man.I know several teachers at CCHS and they all say the same thing.
    He did not get enough playing time from my perspective.
    He is only a Sophmore and has a few years left.Playing basketball full time with the AAU program will definitely improve his game.
    Keep working hard Dat.Your time will come.
