You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
Why would public schools be out of session for Christian holy days, anyway?
ReplyDeleteAs opposed to Muslim or Jewish holy days? These are usually holidays, not for any religious reason, but because families tend to get together during those times.
ReplyDeleteIt's always puzzling to see public schools and the government close for religious holidays. It's essentially an endorsement of Christianity, establishing it as the primary faith of government vs. Judaism or Islam. Those who wish a school calendar that works around Christian holidays should opt for private, Christian schools.
ReplyDeleteMost School Districts Honor all Religious Holidays...But I have said this Before in the past...Most School Dirtricts should start before Labor Day what I dont get is why start school for 2-3 days and have off for the Labor Day Holiday anyways I never understand that...I think if most Districts start School in Mid August & get in 12 days of Schooling I think most Districts will be able to afford to cancel school due to snow and not have to pull days away from holidays...That's Not Fair to the Kids Either to have there off days cut or taken away...Bethlehem AREA & Salisbury AREA schools is cutting 2 days out of the 4 day Spring Break Vaction...That's Not Right and think its a little unfair to the kids...
