Molovinsky and LVR on WDIY, 6 PM

When Mayor Pawlowski finds this out, somebody is gonna' have to throw him on a lift. He's gonna' blow a head gasket. Two of his biggest critics, Allentown's Michael Molovinsky and yours truly, will be on Alan Jennings WDIY at 6 pm tonight.

Alan Jennings don't care. He doesn't give a shit. He's a bad ass honey badger.

  1. Will callins be permitted? If so expect some shenanigans from the mentor

  2. I think it will be a great moment for Mike to express his political views and his passion for wehrs dam. Also a time for you Bernie to espouse how you and your blog followers feel about the so called death of democracy in Allentown. Maybe even a challenge on air for the appearance of the new chairs of the LC republican and Democratic committees to appear at a later date. We all want to know of their planned efforts to field candidates in the city to offer some choice.

  3. Guy, those are GREAT ideas.

12:29, Alan does not take calls because he's not really a honey badger at all.

  4. Why not WAEB? Many more listeners than WDIY

  5. I would not know. Neither would you. Most AM radio is dead. WAEB has haldf the listenership of the lowest rated FM station.

  6. Will there be giveaways for the studio audience?

  7. Pawlowski could care less since no one listens. he will be busy farting on your picture.

  8. It's heartwarming to know he has my picture.

  9. Blog Mentor > Jennings & Molovinsky

  10. I prefer fact bombs over softballs being tossed around by a trio of dour dunces to an audience if maybe 400

  11. "Casual Observer" the Blog Mentor, and has been delivering no fact bombs, but blatant lies and misrepresentations. Both have axes to grind, and are looking for suckers. What you try there could never happen on any NPR station.

  12. Ask Alan if it would be appropriate for a new business to open up outside the City and an exclusive suburb on hiring event be held. I get that unemployment is high in the City, however, if you are that person that is unemployed, it is 100% unemployment. I have no problem with good hearted people trying to help someone land a job, however exclusive events using taxpayer resources (career link) crosses the line. Are poor people less important if they live in a Township or Borough?

  13. Molovinsky sold out to the NIZ Cheerleaders?

What is Jennings going to do when the Rank & File find out that, for them, the NIZ Free Money Train only has jobs involving selling popcorn?

To date, exactly how many businesses from out-of-state have relocated to the NIZ Free Money Train versus those which have merely relocated from another part of Pennsylvania?

How did the cost of the Palace of Sport, originally proposed at $ 80.0 million dollars when Jen Mann was pushing the "transformative" new legislation, balloon to $ 177.1 million dollars?

    Valid questions, all.

  14. Just finished listening to the program and both you and Mike came off very well. Maybe it was the format but Alan was unconvincing in his support of the city mayor. For Alan not to describe the mayors agenda[water, trash and arena]as nothing more than a gamble and describe the mayor as the best in 100 years was sad.Laughable would come to mind if the overall situations were not so serious.

  15. Speaking of shit, I was in the "library" for part of your show. It created just the right atmosphere.

Seriously, I thought the show was well done, or maybe it was the satisfaction of the flush. It's all mixing together.

  16. Sir, Pawlowski is no Mayor Gross. In fact Trexler had the most impact on the City yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Jennings is a funny standup. One of his recycled jokes is when he asks the audience if there is anyone from the sububurbs...then he shouts "get out!". Seems counter productive to Allentowns needs.

  17. Bernie,
asMr. Molovinsky is on a mission and is not poting historical facts about the areas great treasures and gifts for city residents to enjoy on yet another edited out weekend?

A nice shit slinging story for entertainment perposes wold be in keeping with the local political atmosphere? please isn't your counterpart Angle taking a dump somewere in one of his outhouses on his farms?

  18. You know i love the shot stories best, but I'm constipated right now. Poor MM has been off the 'Net, thanks to some screw up by his ISP.

  19. @4:36 I absolutely agree with you about Arena jobs! You have to be kidding that this discrimination goes on in this country. There are plenty of qualified applicants that should get jobs over applicants in walking distance to the arena. I get that you should have some local people to work there but to use tax dollar funded programs to discriminate against applicants from suberbs is unethical at best. The Arena and patrons would benefit from the best applicants not ones just because they are in walking distance.

I laugh at Jennings comment from the Mcall article in parking at arena. Does he really think people will be ok driving around one way streets to find parking in dusk trying to use an app on a smartphone? And he thinks people should suck it up and still use their hard earned money to get aggravated from parking and traffic problems.

Maybe he should ask friends in Reading how it is going at the Santander arena. Because the PPL Center will be a bigger disappointment. 8500 seat arena, with only 3600 cars funneling visitors to and from is an absolute pipe dream.

But hey maybe it will be a lot less cars as I am sure the rich people of downtown Allentown within walking distance will fill up the arena!

This is the Mayor's failure as the arena had no business going up on 7th and Hamilton in the first place.

  20. I thought MM was very good, I was so-so, and Alan was too nice to us.

  21. The Morning Call staff are going to be working overtime to stage photographs / manufacture articles complete with interviews to prove that the crowds attending the minor league hockey games are actually quite "diverse".

The feel-good propaganda will never stop --- even AFTER the arena is torn down less than five decades from now.

(bear in mind that the Spectrum in south Philly was only open from 1967 until 2009 --- did the Spectrum cost the equivalent of $ 177.1 million dollars to build back in late 60s?)

    ReplyDelete
  22. One would think that at least the Allentown public school teachers who lost their jobs would be concerned with how much public money was used to build the Spectrum back in the late 1960s ...

  23. Alan's support for the Big Water Sellout, trash burning, NI$ rich guys,
MAYOR ED,etc. laves me feeling ill.
Is there a bigger, more pompous phony in the Valley?

  24. Those who remain anonymous and make personal attacks are pretty big phonies. I understand and respect what Alan is doing, and he never hides.

  25. For those who are complaining about efforts to help Allentown citizens obtain jobs within the NIZ, remember that there was a loud cry of "no fair," when the Mayor did not adequately disclose how tax monies were going to be collected from the suburbs. Indeed, the suburbs won.

From the beginning, I advocated a citywide and region-wide discussion about training, education, careers, technology, entrepreneurship, and jobs if tax dollars were to be used to subsidize development of this magnitude. Many in leadership actually asked me, "why?" This is what I was used to as an economic development director earlier in my career, and a reason why I served as a city councilperson and ran for Mayor. But that is all behind me now. I am just going to watch.

No one should laugh at the degree of investment occurring downtown. Obviously, it is enormous. However, When compared to how other cities have handled public/private investment strategies, in my opinion, Allentown has failed to measure up to standards.

Everything looks nice, of course, and the restaurants generally will serve the well-off, and the Hospital fitness center will serve the professional class. The arena will serve a select group (based on hockey fans and the music acts being booked). But I am still at a loss how leadership simply ignored most of the citizens of Allentown as the project progressed.

So, now, it is wait and see. Will leadership really understand how urban areas grow or decay? Or will it continue to be a scratch your back type of culture favoring a few?

Sorry, I missed the show, Bernie and Michael. I am sure it was interesting and glad that Michael got a chance to state his views.

  26. Everyone I know tells me not to respond to the "trolls" who make idiotic, mostly ignorant comments on these sites. The trolls also think they know me and make wild assumptions based on what they know.

Most of you losers don't know what you stand for and, so, you just attack everything and everyone. You criticize the city for having all those poor people, then you attack the city for trying to find ways to inject people who aren't poor into the neighborhoods and their marketplaces. You said the arena wouldn't attract additional investment then, when another $400million in new development occurs, you say it won't stick. You said the concerts wouldn't sell, then when they sold out, you attack the city for not having enough parking.

You folks are just mean-spirited, unhappy people. Get lives. Go look in the mirror. Try to force a smile onto your misery-etched faces.

You question my motives. You claim I make a ton of money, drive an expensive car and live in a mansion. You know those are lies.

When I challenge the system you call me a communist. When I work with the system you call me a sell-out. The latest - the biggest pompous phony in the region.

So hate me for being optimistic and idealistic enough to try to make things work better for those at the bottom. Attack me for being practical about how to do that.

And what do you call someone who makes no effort to do any good but sit at a computer attacking those who do? Loser comes to mind.

But you should identify yourselves, you cowards. Because on judgement day the people in line around you will want to stand back to avoid being collateral damage when God makes the call. If he does judge, as we were taught in church to believe, you people are toast.

  27. There is no payback for LC GOP to field city wide candidates. If there were distric positions it might be possible to pick up one or two.

I'm no fan of Alan(Mr welfare), but he is right about a core group of winners and malcontents. Nothing will satisfy them. First the arena will be a bust. Then it's too successful.

I'd rather deal with a learning curve of traffic than watch tattoo parlors, drug hair shops and pawn shops dominate the downtown.

  28. guy williams, first off, i want to publicly thank alan jennings. over the years i have criticized certain programs of his organization, so his invitation to me demonstrated an openness on his part.

i have no reason to doubt the sincerity of his perception about pawlowski's accomplishments, or his decision to be part of the niz board. he feels that he has positioned himself in a way to best serve the needs of the poor in allentown.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I called Alan to say thanks, but let me add my voice to MM. Alan certainly didn't have to invite two guys to his show, knowing that both of us have been highly critical of some of his stands. I know Alan quite well, and know he could have been far more powerful than he was on the radio. I think he held back to let us have our say. He is a class act, and one of Bethlehem's new pioneers. Alan, Jeff Parks, Tony Hanna, Don Cunningham and John Callahan have done more than anyone I know to transform Bethlehem's south side, and without a NIZ.
