LC Comm'rs: We Don't Need no Steenkin' Gays
Last night, LC Comm'rs were told that at LVHN, which employs 10,000 people, about 30 people take advantage of same sex benefits. Executive Matt Croslis, Director of Administration Tom Muller and others predicted the actual cost would be close to 0.
That was good enough for Brad Osborne. "As Republicans, we need to shed our image of intolerance," he observed, especially when it doesn't cost anything.
But Creighton, Vic Mazziotti, Lisa Scheller, Scott Ott and Mike Schware cut the same sex benefits from the budget after being told it won't cost anything. The only reason I can see for this is intolerance.
Even the frickin' Pope asked, "Who am I to judge a gay person?" But he'snot a LC Commissioner.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. The Maz was a big ass in Northampton County and we see he is keeping the same reputation in Lehigh County.
ReplyDeleteGood for Ott and company
ReplyDeleteLehigh County should cease its health plan and put its employees on Obamacare. Stoffa got it right that the plans are cadilacs and too expensive even under Obamacare. No provided healthcare no same sex issue.
ReplyDeleteThe budget was not the right place for this discussion, and the numbers presented were guesswork and admittedly inaccurate.
ReplyDeleteThat's not a recipe for success
Repubs are intolerant. It's no wonder why they lose the last 6 Presidential elections in PA.
ReplyDeleteBernie, beng gay is no more a "lifestyle " than being Irish, like you and me. That's using a Tea Party slur that 's not your style.
ReplyDeleteLook Don, I don't give a shit of if is politicallly inocrrent to refer to being gay as a lifetstyler. It happens to be very accurate bc it IS a lifestyle, amoing other things. And i am tired of everyone talking about them as though they are all saints. in facvt, i am tires of all the talk about gays when we have muc bigger problems. But i believe in equality and will be pricks to them like i am to everyone else.
ReplyDelete8;08, The numbers are zero. There is nothing to discuss. You are either an intolerant asshole or not. It certainly wasn't about finance.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I live a straight lifestyle. So do my mom and dad. Thanks for saying the record straight Bernie.
ReplyDeleteI live an Irish lifestyle
ReplyDeleteCan't help it, I was born that way
Yeah, and I screwed up half the words in that comment.
ReplyDeleteSo Muller puts 200k+ in the budget, and now claims the actual number is zero? If that's the case, why is the benefit even being proposed?
ReplyDeleteI can believe a lot of things, but zero cost for gay spouses doesn't seem believable. Are gay spouses somehow less likely to get sick than straight spouses?
With estimates like that, I think I understand how Muller gave taxpayers a 16% tax hike.
Muller like Stoffa is an ass and incompetent.
ReplyDeleteI don't comment all that much anymore, But I will write that The Lehigh County Teabag Republicans never cease to amaze me. It seems they are daring the registered Dems of Lehigh County, whose record of disinterest in municipal elections in the last decade is inarguable, to come out and vote against them.
ReplyDeleteSome should be careful of just what such arrogance might beget.
I am pretty sure Wes Barrett is going to unseat Mike Schware. I also see the Creighton/Leinart race as getting too close to call. I can even see Susan Wild pulling within single digits. Throw in a dose of voter animosity over the state and national dysfunction, and the Ott's "God team" is on the outside of a majority looking in.
I am not saying it will happen, but this political kamikaze mission the teabags is on will not end well for them, whenever they crash and burn.
