Labor Endorses McClure, Misspells His Name
Good afternoon,
On April 1st and 2nd the Lehigh Valley Labor Council COPE Committee met and held a candidate interview process. Northampton County candidates presented first, followed by Lehigh County. I have to say that there are many, many outstanding candidates running and we were hard pressed to reach the numbers necessary for endorsement.
On a personal note, I would rather not get involved in primaries but the Labor Council operates through a Democratic process and the majority voted to have a primary endorsement process. Although both parties in both counties were notified, we only interviewed one member of the GOP. I hope to change that in future cycles and have made some progress earlier today. We only endorsed and voted in races where there was competition. Endorsements for the general election will come out in the early Summer.
The candidates that were endorsed by the CLC include:
Northampton County Executive----Lamont Maclure
Northampton County Council------ Bill Wallace
Northampton County Council-------Ron Heckman
Northampton County Council-------Jerry Seyfried
Easton School Board-------------------Dominic Buscemi
We were unable to reach consensus on Lehigh County candidates.
In unity & solidarity,
Gregg J. Potter
President, Lehigh Valley Labor Council

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
who cares who the labor council supports?
ReplyDeleteNow Zoid, the union has spoken! Sure, they can't spell his name, but so what? Details, details.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say, "in solidarity."
ReplyDeleteSo this is going to be a "lets rip unions" piece again? Really Bernie. The trabaggers will have their own endorsements, I am sure.
ReplyDeleteI see that, like your union brethren, you have spelling problems, too. In solidarity.
ReplyDeleteSlow day? Misspelling? Really? Yes, it should have been proof read, but you've published plenty of articles with misspellings and you have a "spell check" feature.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog, but you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel to find something to print.

I am laughing my ass off at the level of incompetence shown here by the Lehigh valley labor council. We all know that it is steered by the tatooed man and he is steered by the save gracedale people. What a joke of an organization this group is. They meet in a. 200sq ft hole and they think they have influence on anybody. They should. Have endorsed the one qualified candidate, John Callahan

ReplyDeleteWell Mr. Ohare,
ReplyDeleteThe folks who endorsed him know how to spell his name. Therefore either the printer or the one who produced that misread the proof. Who knows? Since I was there, I can certainly tell you his supporters know how to spell the man's name. I , however, am still undecided. So we will see how it goes.8
3:57. How could u be there and then still be undecided.
ReplyDeleteyep they have left their own out to fend for themselves in Lehigh county

ReplyDeleteSimple decision, really. Callahan is anti-worker. He and hios developer pals want third world wages so they can all have their single malts at the Melt or Edge. Johnny Casino knows who feathers his bed and he takes care of them. It sure isn't the working stiff. Callahan has shown his disdain for workigmen and women and people know that. His record shows that.
ReplyDeleteHe was alwyas a Republican and only switched to get elected in Bethlehem. The guy hasn't a real or sincere bone in is body. He does have a lot of single malt in his body.
". Therefore either the printer or the one who produced that misread the proof. Who knows?"
ReplyDeleteThat's your union printer for 'ya.
In solidarity.
There are at least ten unions in Northampton county Government alone. If they and all their families vote for endorsed candidates, that is a large block of voters. Then you have the ex-steelworkers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc. etc., and you can certainly influence an election. I say the endorsed candidates win for the exception of Maclure. Reibman and maclure will be far behind.
ReplyDeleteIf Reibman would have stayed out of the race McClure probably could have overcome Callahan in the Executives race. As it stands now, Reibman is a spoiler. He can't possibly overcome the disgraceful legacy he left.
ReplyDeletePolls were done, Reibman is beating McClure . He's not the spoiler . His record is this, Reibman left a 45 million dollar
ReplyDeleteSurplus, he left human services in excellent shape, and Gracedale was profitable , and the swaption was in a profit making position. Since then Stoffa has decimated Human Services, let the swaption go beyond 25 million and has almost sold Gracedale, the county jewel. So who is the disgrace , seriously you are out of your mind.
The tattooed man is one of the hardest workers in the labor council and one of the many reasons the Council is strong. Good folks, hard workers. Nobody can outwork him . I certainly cant. So if he is working for a candidate, then I'd worry. ***
ReplyDeleteYour buddy Seyfried was endorsed why do you ignore that while slammming the Labor Council? Hypocrisy much?
ReplyDeleteI am merely observing, correctly, that these union dudes are o well-informed they got maclure's name wrong. They got Jerry right.
ReplyDeleteIn solidarity.
so what if the spelling is wrong! he is the first candidate on the list of 3.... people will know his name!!!
ReplyDeleteMike Fleck is the second coming of Mike Solomon. He'll end up the same way, too. He'll get so full of himself, and so greedy that he'll push the boundaries of legality and end up getting caught and make a bunch of pols and labor unions look like fools for ever listening to anything he says. Just another home grown sleaze bag attached to Reibman. And Lehigh Valley pols and unions fall for Fleck's self-promoting con job like a bunch of mindless sheep. This is exactly why the Lehigh Valley will always be a backwater in PA politics.
