Medical Emergency Prevents Callahan From Filing Finance Report

To those of us who want to see Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan's latest campaign finance report, we'll all have to be a little patient. There is no long line of people wanting to see that report. Aside from The Express Times intrepid reporter Tom Shortell, I was the only person hanging out at the elections office on Friday afternoon.

Callahan's campaign treasurer had a medical emergency and was hospitalized last week, and he missed the Thursday deadline. He'll have to pay a $20 per day fine, out of his own pocket, when the report is filed.

Callahan did offer to supply the spreadsheets containing his finances, but I'd prefer to wait.

According to one of my readers, I should be howling from the rooftops about this faux pas. "It will be interesting to see how O'Hare spins this one. Imagine if it was Cusick, Deitrich, McClure, Barron, Reibman or the Northampton County Dems that did this. He would be screaming from the highest roof tops."

Although I'm certainly a miserable bastard, even I would hesitate to stomp all over someone when a medical emergency makes him late with his financials. The political hacks in the Glenn Reibman and Lamont McClure camps, however, will bash Callahan.

I wonder how they would feel if a medical emergency prevented their candidate from filing a timely report.

Updated 4:30 PM: My reference to the political hacks in the Glenn Reibman and Lamont McClure camps is not intended as a slur on thse candidates or their political consultants, but to the slimy wannabes who attach themselves to these candidates.

  3. Speaking of campaign finance, will LC ever truly know who is funding candidates from Conservative PACs?

  6. Is angle LATE again, he is late every year, it's not a big deal, they will pay the county the fine and thats it... SO WHAT

  7. Angle is never late and filed his campaign finance report as required. Why do you have to make up stories? It is one thing to be a hack, but try to be a truthful hack.

  8. You know you would not be nearly this nice if it were Reibman,
    Pawlowski or anyone you hate.
Callahan has a small army working on his cmapign and he screwed it up.

You have already made it clear you are now on the Callahan bandwagon. Is this what we can expect from county official Callahan. Do what he wants when he wants. With all his developer cash he can just pay the fine.

  9. Hey O'Hare... check out the ET article today on LTCF in Northampton County and the comments. Tricia has some nice words possibly directed to you in the comment section. Unbelievable that she would put that up on a public comment section.

  10. Incredible. This is the second time she has done this. She is a criminal thug.

  11. Perhaps you think this "medical emergency" is being faked like your Tea Party brethren believed Hillary Clinton was faking her blood clot. You can't help people being skeptical. Make your bed....

  12. One has to question the veracity of the blogger's integrity. On one hand, Callahan is vermin known as "Johnny Casino" and now he is O'Hare's best buddy. Peculiar.

  13. I don't think Bernie is being two faced about Callahan, if he does something wrong, Bernie will pounce, If he does something right and writes about it, you say he is a Callahan Lover, Is he a McClure Lover when he writes that McClure did something right, is he a Angle hater when he disagrees with him? No he is a R-E-P-O-R-T-E-R and is doing a job.

  14. Yes, that's obvious by his unbiased coverage of the mayor in the past. He would NEVER report on the good things Callahan resided over. Ever.

  15. So this woman is being "stalked"? That puts a different spin on these blog posts.
