Are Rising Gas Prices Sinking Obama?

That's what the latest polls say. In the meantime, President Obama has broken a promise to impose a windfall profits tax on oil companies, and pass them along to taxpayers. Now that Republicans control the House, that ship has sailed.

  1. No, because unlike you, most people who know a little about politics know that he'll open up some reserves to appear he's doing something about gas prices.

  2. For the 86% of Americans in the investor class, look at your portfolios in the last quarter. You likely own oil stocks. You received your windfall.

  4. Anon 138pm, the year/year price of Exxon Mobil stock shows it's actually down for the period.

The five year price comparison shows it's flat.

    Sorry.

  6. Obama and his Sec'y of Energy have spoken in favor of high gas prices to quell demand and spur alternatives - like Volts for the $170,000 per year income class. He should address the nation and tell us why his dreams are being realized and why $5 and $6 gas is really good for us.

Then, he should explain why Gitmo is still open and he's now cool with taking Super PAC money.

This will happen the day he converts to Christianity and monkeys fly out of the first lady's ass.

  7. Just wishing something to be true doesn't make it such. I know the GOP is hoping this issue will sink Obama, but it's only a slight distraction from the Grand Old Problems being exposed during this campaign season.

  8. The Seanate republicans filibustered any attempt at imposing a windfall tax on the oil companies..To try to put this on obama's back is idiotic..It's your buddy Charlie Dent and his fellow republicans who keep blocking the windfall taxes and continue to allow the oil companies to collect subsidies from the government while they make billions..To place any of this on Obama is a joke.

  9. Bernie,
    The answer is yes!!
Hussein Obama has already taken control of the Health care, and the Detroit Auto Industry.
He was raised by Socialist Parents and in the Muslim Faith.
He was further influenced by Radicals Bill Ayres and his Wife Dorn. He realizes that the Country operates on fossil fuel.

  10. My 401K tanked the first two weeks in August when the GOP played games with the debt ceiling and then S&P downgraded Congress.

We saw the same thing in May of 2010 when the economy was on the upswing and we heard the constant neagative drum beat on how bad things were, sure enough, Wall Street reacted.

    S&P downgraded Congress...specifically Republican obstructionists.

  11. 7:07, If you click on my link, you'll see that it is actually the non-partisan Politifact that tags Obama on this broken promise. It is certainly that no R House would agree to an elimination of this subsidy. But Obama dd have a Democratic-controlled House, which wasted a year or so jamming so-called health care down an unwilling public's throats, while ignoring many other pressing issues like the economy.

    Reverend Wright
The Birth Certificate coverup (in effect since he was born)
    Vacation days taken
    Golf Games played
He doesn't wear a flag pin
he didn't put his hand on the bible when sworn in
that Bible he didn't put his hand on was actually a Quaran
He doesn't give speeches with American Flags on the stage
He said 57 states in the US
He bowed to the Saudi King
(see Bushes hand holding and kissing of that king video on youtube)
He said CORPSE MAN when referring to the Marines
and the biggest most terrible thingy
HE JUST DON'T LOOK LIKE THEM THAR OTHER PRESEEEDENTS

  13. I think his entire Presidency has been a bang up job in making sure he's a one-termer. High gas prices is just piling it on at this point.

Who thought the Democrats would field a more failed President than Jimmy Carter.

  14. Obama has been a disappointment to me. I believed him when he said he wanted to work with both sides. I think he fell short there. But the Rs have no one I can get behind.

  15. Working with both sides involves more than, Hey John Boehner give me that bill you "R's" designed and I'll sign it.
They have never, since Rush and Mitch Mcconnell told the party to make him fail, have attempted to negotiate. EVER....period end of story.
Problem is they over reached and now he will be re-elected, they lose in spite of themselves.
If they know whats good for them, they better get to work during his next term.
Even George Will sees the writing on the wall.
You'll be lucky to keep the House.

  17. Passing Healthcare reform was more important and once in a generation opportunty. Obama lost some political capitol over it, but generally speaking, the benefits far outweigh the negatives. It is a work in progress and some areas need to be corrected, however, Dent and fellow repoublicans did absolutely nothing when Big Insurance and Drug companies mushroomed our healthcare costs.

As for energy policy, drill here drill now is an empty slogan if you are not going to ensure those resources would stay in US interests. Just look at the price of Coal. We have an abundace of it and China sets the price based on their demand.

When drilling in Anwar was the hot topic, no industry leader would commit to keeping those resources in US interst.

If drilling was the solution, why is the gas industry holding back on drilling more in PA? The reason being is that the price is too low.

8 years of Republican Policies lead to this financial mess. After 4 years of Bush, the trend was down. After 4 years of Obama, the trend is positive.

If only Charlie Dent would have supported a Jobs bill last spring.

They found out what was in it!

How many WAIVERS (1,500 or so?) for OBAMACARE have been issued so far???
