Something Fishy About Callahan

Earlier this week, I posted a blog telling you that in late 2009, the Bethlehem Parking Authority purchased the Main Street Commons parking deck, even though it already had a garage just a stone's throw away. It paid $1.6 million for a property only work $675,000, and gave the seller a lease for over half of the parking spots.

This was clearly a sweetheart deal for developer Lou Pektor, who was in deep financial trouble at the time. Executive Director Hector Nemes, who refused to sign the closing documents, was squeezed out of office.

Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan is copied on nearly every piece of correspondence.

Above, you can see Hizzoner, Lou Pektor and some of their posse, posing with their catch after a Maryland fishing trip in 2005.

1.) How much did this trip cost?

2.) Did Callahan pay his own way or was this a “gift?

”3.) If it is a gift, did Callahan disclose it on his ethics statement?

  1. I believe that is a tarpon. Not to be confused with a tampon. They smell the same but are very different.

  4. Jeez Bernie, just because Callahan would not allow you to perform oral sex on him is no excuse to hound him like a dog that he is...
