Gracedale Lawyer Otter Tries To Take Out Angle

Morning Call columnist Bill White has called Ron Angle and me the "Green Hornet and Kato of Northampton County politics." So Gracedale Initiative Petition lawyer extraordinaire Larry Otter kept nailing us with hornet spray at yesterday's hearing.

Instead of killing us, the spray attracted two bad mamajamas, who even posed with us until the spray wore off.

Eat your heart out, Larry!

  2. Bernie,

How did you luck out and get Angie under YOUR arm?

  3. Well you should be smiling you helped destroy the hopes of thousands of people. You helped destroy not a facility but a Northampton County tradition of caring for our elders and infirm.

You and Angle should be proud, you both, with considerable help from John Stoffa proved that two dedicated egomaniacs with evil intent can destroy peoples confidence in and respect for government.

Your only accomplishment was to cause a long term loss of faith by the people in Northampton County Government.

The Legacy of Angle/Stoffa will be masterminding the most politically extreme, destructive, selfish policy in the history of the County.

Congratulations, nice to see you find it all very humorous.

    over-react much?

  5. TO 4:43 AM

I didn't know that you spoke for "thousands of people". For a fact, you don't speak for the majority. Since federal regulations have changed in favor of privatization, this was the prudent choice of the majority of Northampton County citizens. The residents of Gracedale will receive better care and the unions won't be picking my pocket.

Don't purport to speak for me, especially with rhetorical skills that are limited to hyperbole and personal attack.

  11. Where did Angle get that hat Bernie? I happen to believe the decision to privitize Gracedale might save money but is a tragedy for the residents there and their families...That said..One has to applaud council for their political courage..After this vote, with most republicans supporting it, especially the at large folks, they will be so toast in the next election their heads will be spinning..Only Peg could survive a vote to sell. Whether those petitions hold 19,000 or 12,000 signatures of registered County voters, that's alot of folks to ignore. Do so and you commit political suicide..Stoffa isn't concerned cause he won't be running again, but council, if they want to have the slightest chance of reelection, should be..Angle, who is a celebrity in his crazy neck of the woods, can win up there but if he's ever thinking of running for exec he might as well stop thinking about it right now...But again, I applaud them for giving up their reelection chances for this..cause they most certainly have..

  12. "Who are the ladies (with eyes appropriately rolled?)?" Yeah I think the spray was starting to wear off. These ladies told me they'll kill me if i identify them.

Maybe. Maybe not. But what any legislator owes his constituency is his best judgment.

  16. If you want to save Gracedale why didn`t the petition include the need for a tax increase ? The petition was devious and inaccurate much less incomplete. If the care is so bad why did 35 other counties sell their nursing homes ?This isn`t about what is the best decision for all it is about saving" private 68 per cent benefit package"...shame shane

Any idea why the council video from last Thursday is not available. Tried to watch it that night and it wasn't on.

  20. It went down last Thursday. That;s all I know. I told Al Jordan shortly before the meeting started bc I rec'd a call from a friend. Jordan never bother to explain what happened or what he is doing. He never said a word to Council before the meeting either.

  22. Congratulations to Judge Baratta. He accurately called this court challenge for what it is "Pure politics". People who care about the sick and elderly want to continue the time honored tradition and County duty to care for those folks. We need to have better management in today's world and numerous individuals with "real" knowledge have provided information on how to accomplish that. Even those folks have conceded that if in fact after a "good faith" effort Gracedale is overly expensive and not cost neutral you can always sell. Probably at a much better price than the bargain basement fire sale price we are getting. Not very smart to negotiate from a position of, We want to sell, we must sell, what will you give me". Classic Stoffa Administration competence at work.

On the other hand you have the politics of the 'Tea Party Express". Put granny on an ice flow and then sell the ice flow to a company that wants granny meat. This new group, that would turn the stomach of Ronald Regan, believes that if you are born defective and can't get health insurance, tough crap. If you get old sick and destitute, screw you. Their mantra is,"I took care of me, screw you". Their view of America is a two dimensional perspective, bereft of depth. That is what O'Hare and Angle represent.

The Judge realizes this but in the end he must apply the Law, even if it has been used with the most evil of intent.

    A Sad County

  23. The elderly are more likely to receive better care from Gracedale's new management than the poor-to-average care they currently receive at considerably higher cost.

It's rich when spendthrift liberals who put union jobs in front of elderly care deign to channel the Gipper. It's remarkable. I'm finally convinced he really does belong on Rushmore.

"Mr. Stoffa, tear down this monument to government ineptitude!"

  24. And Bernie, admit you weren't wearing trousers under your raincoat, and you covet Ron's very cool hat.

Actually no, The tea party mantra is: If you want the program, find a way to pay for it without raising taxes or adding to the deficit. Nice try tho, come again. And the last time I looked Angle and O'Hare don't represent the LVTP.

  26. Ronald Regan as Governor increased the eligibility for California's Medigap coverage allowing thousands more to qualify.

Someday, people will take time to really learn about their hero. If the Ronald Reagan of 1980 were running for his Party's nomination today with the wildly extreme elements of the Party controlling the process, he would lose the nomination to Sara Palin. Deny it but if you read "real" history you will find it to be true.

    Reality Jones!

    no such word

No one could have said it better.

  29. The tax increase is as much a sham as is the bullshit about better care in a private facility. Stoffa needs money for his drug addict haven and has squandered the surplus he inherited.

Sadly, honesty was the first casualty in this policy decision.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Now Reality Jones loves Reagan. I'll bet Jonesy was screaming at Dutch when his Education Department tried to have ketchup declared a vegetable under the school lunch program. Reagan would have sold Gracedale already.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Stoffa`s record: no tax increase in 7 years except for half mill for open space. Who matches that record ?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Why no tax increase in 7 years ?
Because they had money coming in from Gracedale, except for the last 2 years because they did repairs that should have been done all along. The money Gracedale made for many years carried many dept's.
at the court house, some should have been put aside for when Gracedale needed it. And this is as true as the sun shines, if you don't believe it ask Mr. Stoffa.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Gracedale has lost money for the last 4 years.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Stoffa inherited the largest cash surplus of any County Executive. he still needs to sell Gracedale to cover his incompetence Administrations budgeting.

Worst decision in the history of the county.

  37. Bernie, what do do you do for income? honestly. are you retired or are you a paid blogger?kidding, but really ,since we know you are not a lawyer, what have you been doing since you have been disbarred since like the 70s or whatever?

  38. "Stoffa inherited the largest cash surplus of any County Executive. he still needs to sell Gracedale to cover his incompetence Administrations budgeting."

In case you missed, a few other people lost their surplus funds and a lot of other cash to boot. Something about a recession. Stoffa to blame for this, too?

  39. O Bernie I didn't know you didn't have hands, good thing that wheelchair is there so they can wheel you into Gracedale...Oh Wait you sold it! you pig
