I thought Sam Elias, a Bethlehem police officer and a member of the Lebanese diaspora here in NorCo, had a very good shot at winning one of the five at-large seats up for grabs last year. But when the votes were tallied, he ran a distant 6th. He was nearly 10,000 votes behind Nadeem Qayyum, the fifth-place finisher. But yesterday afternoon, during a Trump rally at Mack Truck, he got rock star treatment from none other than the President himself.
According to Trump, Elias has named his youngest child Melania.
I hope it's a girl.
For his part, Elias thanked Trump, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie and the entire white house for helping him as a father of six in a single-income household. "Hard work should pay off, not get punished with higher taxes," he said. He lauded Trump for severely curtailing tax on tips and overtime.
He also praised Trump for his approach to Lebanon. "The Lebanese people finally have an American ally who advocates for a sovereign and independent Lebanon governed by the Lebanese people."
Israel thought it had a great American ally in Trump, too.
So did Italy ... and Britain ... and Canade ... and Mexico ... and Denmark.
Ukraine was a bit smarter and started making its own drones.

Isn’t Lebanon fu**ing getting bombed to hell by Israel with reports of thousands of casualties? With reports of a million displaced, not sure now is the time to heap praise about anything there given Trumps proximity to Bibi. Also it’s my understanding that there’s no new jobs with this reorder of military trucks and that this was announced years ago and the deal in the works since Wild was in office. You can’t say Trump isn’t the best political showman; smoke mirrors and a bit of corruption.
Go get ‘em, Sam. He’s a kind, considerate, respectful, reliable, hard working and religious guy. Anyone who didn’t vote for him lost out on having the voice he displayed yesterday on council. Maybe that ultimately was better for him in the long run but definitely a loss for us in Northampton County.
Save your breath. Donald Trump is not a candidate for President.
Enjoy the 250th Anniversary of American citizen freedom and liberty while we still have those privileges. There are already people in elected office who strive to take some of that away.
Isreal doesnt deserve us as an ally
Poor BO lets his TDS show again. He just can't help himself. There was nothing else to report on? No, he had to get his jollies by taking a petty swipe. I'm no fan of tRUMP, but this was nothing but a cheap shot.
I don't like Trump and never voted for him. But I love the way he leads you and your ilk around like a cat chasing a laser pointer. It reminds of the old Three Stooges episode where Curly loses his mind every time someone says Niagara Falls. Have a nice day, kitty.
That targeted tax break helped accelerate the depletion of Social Security. Trump gave some workers a tax break just for political reasons.
Why should one person’s work be taxed and not another’s?
Another fiscal error by Trump, a big-spending bankrupt who is pushing the national debt to new highs.
Let me see if I have this correct. Trump with an historically low approval rating, due to him making life unaffordable for working families, while his friends and family make billions from access to White House information, a failed tariffs policy, a failed foreign policy, and guaranteeing $300 billion in war reparations to Iran, comes to the Lehigh Valley to support Ryan MacKenzie. Not unusual for the head of a party to come to arguably the most competitive district in the nation to support their party’s candidate. Except that their party’s candidate appeared scared to death that Trump might actually say his name, apparently believing that voters would somehow forget his steadfast support for the Trump agenda. So. to fill the dead air, they bring out a candidate who lost countywide, almost half of the Congressional district, to the significant other of Taiba Sultana. Not exactly powerful messaging.

He's a decent man, and was the only R that worked his ass off, its a shame you decided to do a hit piece on him. As far as Israel, Trump is the only Prez that actually helped them, in fact some call him the 1st jewish President. As far as Europe, they didn't let us use our bases, so I dont blame him for being pissed. As he said last week at the G7 summit, "I'm the boss." I agree with you where it pertains to Ukraine.
Hey, he is Lebanese and a cop, how could he possibly win in NorCo ?
I was sure he would win. but I did not see just how angry voters are at Trump. Elias and the other Rs lost because of Trump.
This was no hit piece on Elias, lol. If anything, I compliment the guy. And without question, no tax on most tips or overtime has helped the working class. But Trump has turned us into a pariah internationally. As for Israel, ask Israelis how they feel now. And let me get this straight. He never consulted with Europe before invading Iran and then gets bad when they don't drop anything and help him do what we are more than capable of doing ourselves? He insults Canada repeatedly. He insulted our closest ally, Britain. He now is picking on Italy's longest-serving prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, because she refused to bend the knee. His treatment of the true leader of democracy, Volodymyr Zelensky, has been nothing short of disgraceful.
If anyone watched some of trumps gaslighting talk yesterday, are you scratching your head and saying how can he be the president of the USA? C’mon face it, he’s absolutely delusional!
Actually also because the DSA whack jobs are taking over because some entitled people believe their BS.
" His treatment of the true leader of democracy..." Whoa there...I'm an old cold warrior, and pro-Ukraine. That being said, when did the leader of democracy hold free elections? Cause even in WW2, the U.S. and the UK held elections. I get there are some logistical concerns, but still...
Happy to hear you are pro-Ukraine. We were able to convene elections during WWII because we were not being bombed on a daily basis. Zelenskyy is open to elections if the US and NATO can provide security. https://www.ksl.com/article/51416849/zelenskyy-says-he-is-open-to-elections-if-us-allies-ensures-security
He's afraid of democracy? Sounds about right. Dictators are like that.
sam is a sell out. Trump has allowed Israel to bomb the shit out of Lebanon. Trump could stop it anytime he wants. Sam is enamored with power and a traitor to the Lebanese
Anon @ 9:23 AM You apparently still believe morals and ethics matter in NorCo elections. Suggest you stop going to church and get up-to-date real quick.
I've never seen anything like it- the hatred for 1 man is pathological!
"He's a decent man, and was the only R that worked his ass off"
Daniel Campo worked very hard. At almost every event I attended, he was there meeting people
Without SPECIFIC details of Trump’s corruption your attempts to call him down should be disregarded by anyone reading. It’s easy to just throw stones at someone from a safe distance. Let’s hear you evidence so we can verify if you know what you’re talking about.
Gas was over $5 per gallon under Biden.
The inflation rate under Biden spiked at 9.1%
Illegal immigration cost this country 150-400 billion dollars per year under Biden, depending on which study you trust.
Clinton bombed the shit out of Yugoslavia.
Obama bombed the shit out of Syria and Iraq.
Joe
Sam and any other single parents only get a tax break on the Overtime Time portion of his paycheck if he makes more than $150,000 a year. As for MacKenzie, I don't think Trump could remember his name. He kept referring to MacKenzie as "your Congressman" and directly addressing him as "Mr. Congressman."
See you at council meetings on You Tube. You never look happy and always have a liberal cause to support and a Republican complaint or complaints. Very sad, Joe.
