In Trump's dystopian Amerika, our police have become increasingly militarized, and our military have increasingly become police officers. What's more, we have masked ICE agents who prance around in unmarked tactical gear. It is more like 1930s Germany than 1950s America. They claim the masks are needed to prevent the safety and privacy of agents and their families. I rather think it is actually for the same reason that Nazi thugs liked to don swastika armbands - they think it makes them look cool. It is also harder to sue them for their illegal arrests and excessive use of force.
In Pennsylvania, the "No Secret Police: Unmask ICE" Act was introduced by State Senator Amanda Cappelletti back in July. She believes this practice erodes public trust in law enforcement and makes impersonations far more likely. She has eight co-sponsors, all of whom are Democrats. The bill generally requires law enforcement to wear clothing that identifies them as such, including their name, badge number and specific department. Masks are banned with certain exceptions for undercover work and public health.
No Republican has agreed to sponsor the bill, so it will likely languish until next year, when I expect that the people are going to elect Democrats who will put leashes and muzzles on these out-of-control federal agents.
Neither LV Dem Senator (Nick Miller, Lisa Boscola) has co-sponsored the bill. They have their fingers in the air, waiting to see which way the wind blows.
New Jersey is considering a similar bill, and California has actually passed a law that bans the masks

What ICE is doing is very critical to the health and welfare of this nation. It is not an easy job and dangerous, too. Watch the live videos from street battles going on.
Simple fix here. Change the head protection helmets worn by ICE. They are regularly being pelted by bottles and trash cans, even spat upon, you know.
Affix to the helmets a more difficult-to-see-through full face shield. By the way, all the ICE people I watch in action DO already wear visible ID on their person.

While I understand your concern, in today's political environment we could expect that identifying officers could very well lead to attacks on them and more importantly their families. The trend to unmarked swat teams has been going on for decades and has always raised the risk of misidentifying law enforcement for criminals and self defense.
A compromise may be identifying agents as police and their department, while still ensuring some security for their family and their personal lives.
I suspect that many do not want laws enforced and will do most anything to hinder law enforcement. Support for Uncontrolled immigration is a symptom of the current state of the union.
All immigration should be limited until there is some sort of progress is dealing with the results of the last few years of policy.
Instead of FIRST making a law unmasking marked,uniformed, plainly labeled law enforcement officers, why don't we FIRST make it illegal to dox, create apps and websites that identify by name, visuals, and locations, of those who are agents of law enforcement, and prosecute individuals and organizations that are making it NECESSARY to wear masks? Duh!
Lisa is at heart a Conservative. Miller on the other hand is one of those Democrats who really wishes he was a Republican. He is in a safe Democratic seat, but acts as if it is some swing district. His real danger is on a primary.

The courts haven’t decided if a state can regulate federal law enforcement. Until the case is decided, the proposed legislation is meaningless.
How about getting rid of the millions who came into our Country illegally 1st rather than worry about "masked" agents who have targets on their back. Attacks against ICE agents are up dramatically, thanks to people who think like Bernie.

The narco boat in question was in international waters. Technically a pirate ship not under the protection or laws of any nation. It flew no flag and refused to reply to the Coast Guard. Our War Department considered the boat a threat and it was ordered destroyed. That's what happened. Naturally, there will be yet another lawsuit.

I think declaring Latin Mass attendees and parents protesting public school grooming activates at schol board meetings as "domestic terrorists" to be investigated by the FBI was far more sinister. 20 million immigrants were not vetted. Their now being vetted retroactively. And the militarization of law enforcement happened during Obama, following the Bush phony wars. Military personnel and their tanks and weapons were given to local law enforcement. I know you're old and likely struggling with memory problems like a lot of us. But the Internet is a thing. California can’t enforce the law because there are serious legalities that have to be heard by the courts. Until then there is an injunction. It’s very questionable that a state government has the authority to regulate a federal law enforcement agency.

I have long compared Donald Trump to Adolph Hitler. Like every elected official, I wish him good luck and success because we all benefit from a positive and successful four years of a good and decent Presidency.
