Sen. Mark Kelly (D. Ariz.) is a retired Astronaut and Navy Captain. During his vaunted career in the navy, he flew 39 combat missions during Desert Storm. He and five other members of Congress angered President Trump recently when they told US service members to refuse to follow illegal orders. On his own social media platform, Trump called them all "traitors" and accused them of "SEDITIOUS BEHAVOR, punishable by DEATH!" Trump lemming Pete Hegseth, ever eager to please the boss, wants Kelly recalled to active duty and court-martialed.
I believe Trump has actually just named his successor.
Kelly is exactly what this country needs, a centrist who is willing to and has worked with Republicans to get things done. He is certainly a notch above career politicians like Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro, Rahm Emanuel and Kamala Harris.

Although recall is rare it can happen up to the age of 65 for commissioned officers. Senator Kelly is 61. The UCMJ allows one to not obey an illegal order. The vengeful child bully poor excuse for a president and his puppet Sec of Defense would cause a major shitstorm if they tried this. Threats of impeachment would follow and in my opinion a bunch of republicans would join the democratic bandwagon.

I'll take JD Vance, who would never undermine his fellow service members. Benedict Arnold was a hero until he wasn't. George Washington wanted him taken alive so that he himself might execute Arnold. His “unlawful orders” video is nothing more than an attempt to undermine the lawful actions of the president, the military, and other federal agencies. Despite the general theme of his video, he failed to mention a SINGLE actual example of an unlawful order that Trump has given.
His video is a disgusting attempt to turn the military against the chain of command and the country because he disagrees politically with the president and the millions of Americans who lawfully elected the president. Any thought of Kelly pursuing the office of President or being supported in such an effort should have been out the window once he joined the other idiots in creating this performative art “unlawful orders” video.
I'm not. But he and most of the contenders for this office are career politicians. Kelly, on the other hand, is career military. In the senate, he has been a centrist and is willing to buck his own party on issues like immigration. He supports restrictions on asylum seekers during surges. He cosponsored an act that assesses the threat posed by border drones. He supports increased border security tech. He pushed federal legislation (CHIPS Act) to promote US produced semiconductors. He promoted an Act that restricts doing business with Chinese military biotech firms. He voted to support most of Trump's cabinet nominees (not Tulsi Gabbard, Kash Patel or Pete Hegseth) and the Laken Riley Act. 29 of the 40 bills he proposed had GOP support.

This video was a bad idea. It was meant to destabilize our military. Exactly a tactic that Elissa Slotkin used in other countries as a CIA operative. When Slotkin was asked what specific orders she was talking about on Meet The Press, she couldn't name them! It was one of the most irresponsible things I have ever seen politicians do, regardless how much you hate the president. Kelly got sucked into it, I thought he was smarter than that. Of those you listed (Emanuel doesn't belong in the conversation), Senator Kelly isn't nutty enough, neither is Shapiro. Harris is just too dumb, even for today's Democrat party. Newsom is a crazy fool with an impressive TDS score and that desirable resume entry of accelerating the destruction of California so he's got the best chance at this point.
