Usually, these crimes are committed in the middle of the night, away from prying eyes. But the idiots engaged in this criminal mischief were doing so in broad daylight. Yesterday afternoon, Pennsylvania State Police nabbed two minors at the busy 13th and Bushkill Streets intersection as they were spray-painting the anti-Sultana signs. Waiting for them in a car was a third person who may be an adult or minor. All three happen to be Taiba Sultana's children.
Pennsylvania State Police notified Easton police, and at least two of these children were taken into custody.
Pa. Citizens PAC has released the following statement:
Amazingly, Easton resident Frank Graziano spotted Sultana's adult son at the 25th Street and Freemansburg Avenue intersection yesterday afternoon at 4:30 pm as he removed anti-Sultana signs and threw them in the back of his Honda Civic, Frank called Easton police, so it should be no surprise if charges are filed against this person.
Vandalizing a campaign sign is usually just a summary offense but can be a misdemeanor depending on the amount of damage caused. Stealing a campaign sign is a third-degree misdemeanor. If Sultana encouraged her children to vandalize and steal campaign signs, she could be charged with solicitation, conspiracy or corrupting the morals of minors. I'd like to know if the minor children were in school yesterday. I sometimes wonder whether Sultana is a female version of Dickens' Fagin.
No matter how much you might dislike them, campaign signs are core political speech fundamental to American democracy.
Sultana has previously claimed that she is a victim of political retaliation by Mayor Sal Panto. She said so after she was charged last summer with assaulting her adult son. She has also accused Hizzoner of racism and just about every other 'ism there is. But her children were initially caught by Pa State Police, not Easton Police, so it's getting harder for her to claim that she's a Panto victim. But she will. Right now, her Facebook pages are strangely on radio silence.
I should end this by noting that Bob Freeman had nothing to do with Lahoud's campaign signs. Freeman's campaign insists he has never been associated with those kinds of tactics. Lahoud, in contrast, loves rolling around in the gutter and especially likes to be compared to either Soros or the Koch brothers. He's very naughty. But he followed the law. Sultana's family, and perhaps Sultana herself, broke it.

I practice in Lehigh. I believe that the sign in question is not an expression of freedom of speech, rather, it constitutes hate speech. Removing hate speech signs is not illegal, as such messages are often considered harmful and offensive. Pennsylvania’s jurisdictions have laws or regulations in place to address such messages. However, some may see the removal of these signs as a form of protest or resistance against the spread of harmful messages. Taiba was not guilty, nor is criminal according to the law. I would do the same if I found my mother to be called a criminal.

Although I was unable to confirm whether the children belonged to Taiba, I was informed that no arrest had been made. I also checked for any information related to Councilwoman Sultan's name but found nothing. It appears that another attempt is being made to smear the campaign. It seems they are resorting to smearing her children now since they are helping with their mama's campaign.

ReplyDeleteBecause they are minors, these children would not be charged with a crime. They would be accused of committing a delinquent act for which there is no public record. As for the daughter who was driving them, she may be over 18 and could be facing charges if she was helping them. Same for the son at 25th & Freemansburg. Taiba herself could be charged if, as some have said, she solicited her children to commit these criminal acts.
Taiba's latest video on FB was a sizzler, she compared Bob Freeman to an old pair of soiled diapers in need of being changed. I'd argue feces caked diapers are less repulsive than an old white swamp dwelling pension hog like Bob "Zionist" Freeman a tool of the occupiers and outright wage thief. ReplyDeleteCire political speech is the basis of any democratic government. Attempts to stifle that speech are a direct assault on the very basis of government. Police officers who stop this, which happens all too often, are to be commended, not castigated.
The PSP saw the vandalism at the 13th & Bushkill intersection. That is right by the Rte 22 intersection where they patrol. They also cover West Easton and would access 22 from there or Freemansburg Ave. They also would be at the intersection on their wqay to or from the courthouse.
The suggestion that this is a sting operation is downright absurd.
Sultana’s anti American views will never fly in the 136th district . The last thing we need is another Rashida Tlaib to deal with .

ReplyDeleteI did chuckle about the kids being in school part - however I did see her scoping out the freshly placed anti-Taiba signs as both she and her husband were pulled off to right just past the light on 13th and Bushkill (leading to W Lafayette). So, it isn’t far fetched that she was out taking note of what intersections the signs were placed.
As for the rest, Taiba and whatever following she somehow still has, I realize it may be a novel idea - but sometimes people and voters don’t like a candidate because they lack content of character.
