NorCo Launching New Website That Is More User Friendly and More Secure

Northampton County has announced improvements to its website that will make it both more user friendly and secure. People who access northamptoncounty.org are being redirected to norcopa.gov. It is supposed to be operational early next year.

According to a county news release, a click on an "“Accessibility & Language Support” link in the upper right hand corner provides enhanced tools that enable users to magnify font size, change font type and even change languages. Those features appear to be available now.

Fiscal Affairs Director Steve Barron told me that he is still collecting information from newly elected officials to load onto the site,. That should be available soon after they are sworn into office.

The .gov domain is what makes it more secure because it includes more rigorous verification processes than a commercial domain. Attempts to hack into county servers spike at election time, especially during as Presidential. The .gov domain also alerts the user that he or she is dealing with an official government website.

  1. When is NorCo going to leave the Stone Age and allow on-line payment of county property taxes via a transfer from a bank account? Saves time and money. Many municipalities already do this.
Does McClure like leading from behind?

  2. Boy Barron the Jack of all trades and master of none is "assurr8ng" people. This is the guy who can't get the computer and audio-visual right in the county, this guy.
I am sure he is talking to the new council people as he needs to make sure they get their scripts.

  4. Three years too late to effectively conduct business online during a pandemic. Remember our government going dark for months? Upon reflection, it was certainly their finest hour. NorCo is just finding out that they've recently put the Internet on computers. Bully.

  6. DocRoc @12:22, I agree with you completely. People should be able to pay taxes online. They should be able to use their debit card in the row offices as well.

No insider. No Morganelli. The outfit used was actually a marketing agency called JesseJamesCreative. No, not the Wild West outlaw. But a guy (James) and gal (Jesse) from NYC.

  10. For comparison WFMZ has a piss poor website, as far as loading video content. And the Morning Call has major issues alphabetizing the obits . The Call should be ashamed with the ads and the additions throughout the day.
