Zrinski Blasts Goffredo as Obstructionist For Wanting Better Bids

Northampton County's Parks Department is in dire need of a new maintenance building. It has rejected several bids, after which it entered into competitive negotiation with a state approved contractor. I'll go into greater detail about this story on Monday. While I believe the proposed contract should have been approved, I certainly understand why Council members John Cusick and John Goffredo were opposed to a project that will cost us at least $1.5 million with no meaningful negotiation. They believe our bid procedures need to be reviewed. Goffredo, in particular, is worried that contractors are waxing up the taxpayer.

Tara Zrinski, who has never seen a sole source contract she dislikes, said she was on Council to make the tough decisions. I'm sorry, but I don't consider a vote for a very expensive maintenance barn with no real bidding a "tough" decision. It is instead a rubber stamp approval of whatever the Exec wants.

That's OK. I would have likely supported it, too. But Zrinski went further. She accused Goffredo of being an obstructionist for what basically amounted to providing some oversight. That's pretty amazing from a Controller candidate who promises to hold everyioe accountable.

Goffredo never responded to Zrinski's personal attack, but Council President Kerry Myers did. He said Council members should drop calling each other names.

That's right.

Leave that to me.

  1. McClure wouldn't accept a sole source bid like this would he? Tara is a demonstrable imbecile. Her vote is expected. If McClure supports this scheme to skin his taxpayers, you've buried the lede to protect your friend, again. Say he's not that stupid or crooked or unfeeling toward his struggling taxpayers.

  2. She is known as the least effective member of county council. The fact that McClure is pushing her for Controller, a job he knows she is completely unqualified for says a great deal about him. He puts his control of the position over good government. Sher loves to preach to other council members, yet she has nothing of substance to say. She will take an hour to explain why air is good to breathe. She is a joke that will probably be elected to Controller by brain dead democrats that put loyalty to McClure over doing the right thing.

The administration has played loose with awarding county projects and won't even allow county coutil to ask questions of procurement officials at their meetings. Tiem to review the Home Rule Charter.

One man rule in the county to be reinforced by bubbleheads like Zirinski.

  3. I wonder if norco voters ever look in the mirror and see the real problem.

  4. Zrinski took little JP to school. I love how she made him look like the little sissy he is.

  6. 9:54, People do and will vote for her. She has a committed following among those who like to pretend they are liberal but who are actually just rich white elitists. She brought the landfill warriors, as some of them like to call themselves, to dominate two meetings of her energy committee. Then she followed that by having a resolution that, for the second time, condemns the landfill expansion because once was not enough. She's been a rubber stamp for McClure, and has never once gone against the Exec on anything, yet vows to hold people accountable. She has failed to state whether she will give up her numerous PT jobs.

Aside from campaign signs, I've seen or heard nothing from Cusick. Not sure he knows the election is this year.

    1. John’s signs are out sitting right next to Tara’s, and have been distributed to private property owners as well.

  7. I think the Controller job should not be elected. Tara Zrinski is the last person we need in that position. Literally no background in finance. It’s crazy!

  8. Bernie it's the times we live in. A verse from the Bible sums it up best. "The wicked prosper".

  10. Czarinsky waltzing around talking about how county has no job description for controller..maybe she should research what her job is as a county council leader, not faux commissioner. She certainly has exhibited her lack of it with her pet pipeline, save the earth, plastic straw, and mouthy remarks that have no significance on the main county concerns like the county budget, Salary studies, youth and senior services , and Gracedale census and fund requirements.
She is obnoxious, loud, and has offered few if any resolutions/legislation over the years to better the county. She will add one more McCueless mouthpiece to an already bought and paid for administration. Vote Cusick

  11. She claims she is the best woman supporter yet she bad mouths the only other woman on county council. She probably will win and that is very sad for the county. You reported she is a proven liar in court. She has accomplished nothing as a local office holder. In today's world for democrats' speeches are more important than achievements.

  12. No wonder we're not as great as Lehigh County.

  13. Hey Bernie, Tara has fallen in with another group of folks with zero experience and apparently an axe to grind in Hanover Township. I'd be entertained by her connstantly campaigning for any open paying job if the real possibility did not exist that she might actually get one of these jobs at some point.
