I've been taken to task for my posts about the ouster of NorCo Custody Master Lisa Tresslar as well as an investigation of Judge Jennifer Sletvold's judicial conduct. This is too close to Judge Sletvold's retention election, some say. But that's basically their own fault.
Judges Sletvold, Roscioli, and Court Administrator Jermaine Greene picked that timing, not me. They were fully aware that an election was coming up. They could have bided their time and waited until the election was safely over. But they did not wait. They stripped Lisa Tresslar of her duties, demoted her below the part-time custody master, sabotaged the operations of the custody court, fired her assistant, made her boss (John Morganelli) so angry he resigned as Custody Judge, and treated her son like a criminal when he came to pick up her assistant’s personal belongings. When Lisa finally resigned from her position, as they had intentionally driven her to do, she graciously gave them two weeks’ notice, as any honorable professional would. Had they taken her up on her offer, she would have continued to be a court employee and could not have spoken out about court business before the election. But no, they told her to pack my things and get out, immediately. And now, THEY are blaming HER for bringing this situation to a head right before the election?
Obviously, they believe that they are allowed to crush, defame, and ruin anyone who stands in their but that their victims are not allowed to fight back.
Once Lisa's termination was published, I learned of the investigation into Sletvold. The public should be aware of all of this, but the courts could have bided their time until after the election. They are arrogant enought to think this will make no difference and are probably correct.

Will it make a difference? That is up to us, the voters.
By removing Sletvold from the bench, we not only promote an atmosphere where Justice can thrive, but in doing so we send a message to those who occupy positions in our judiciary that we ARE paying attention and that judges ARE vulnerable.
Retention is one of the only realistic checks we have against poor behavior from the judiciary, and we should consider the removal of bad judges from the bench as a moral obligation.

I was one of the posters about this issue on the other thread, but some subsequent comments and this post suggest that I was misunderstood: I don't understand why this didn't come out months ago--that is, sooner than it did.
I take it that you learned of this from Atty. Tresslar, who referred you to Atty. Lopiano Reilly and she told you more. Why did the latter talk now to you but not disclose this before? And what are the rules whether an attorney should publicly discuss a judicial complaint that has not yet been decided?
BernieOHare to 5:03, I understood you completely. I disclosed this as soon as I learned of it. If you wanted this kept quiet, you simply could have delayed your arrogant ouster of Tresslar. Also Atty Lopiano Reilly filed her complaint under her name and has a first amendment right to make her complaint public. Judges are not gods, although some think so.

My guess is there will be a story once a lawsuit is filed.
Back in the day, reporters like Michael Buffer, Matt Assad, Joe Nixon and even Al Recker roamed the courthouse and knew what was going on. They spoke to people and developed trust with employees. Now the regional newspapers barely provide any coverage of County government. Thanks, Bernie, for keeping us informed. Maybe the local media outlets should read your blog.
Some do, and if they are interested in what I post, will sometimes run a story. But newsrooms today are a shell of their former selves. The reporters are not at fault.
Bernie, I support your decision in bringing this obvious mishandling of Lisa’s employment to our attention. So many current and former county employees got the same treatment from these pompous asshole judges and administrators, but they never get a platform like this is air their grievances.
From what I’m hearing, Sletvold is getting g nervous about her retention, as well she should.
