  1. I just don't get the selfishness. We are NEVER going to be rid of this virus unless more than 75% are vaccinated fully. If people had been this misinformed by nonsense peddlers when the polio shot became available we would still have to worry about that affliction. "But my freedom" they say, let's get rid of this thing so we can have some actual freedom.

  2. It is indeed selfish that the Anti-Vaxers bristle at every suggestion of a vaccine requirement. I think the US is suffering from years of the “Me First” movement. No sense of common good or common values perhaps because there we’ve had nearly 50 years of no Civics education or service requirement. Don’t worry Anti-Vaxers, you can still be a selfish moron even after you get a shot…

  3. We're going to get shut down again, and it'll be your fault, unvaccinated dotards.

  4. 8.52 there will not be another shut down. We see 100's of thousand's protesting in france now over restrictions. I doubt anyone is going down that road here.

  5. I decline to publish summaries of studies that include no links. Especially when I know that the conclusions reached are wrong. People should fully inform themselves on the risks and benefits of a vaccine. I would oppose any heavy-handed mandate. But arm yourself with facts, not the gibberish being promoted by QAnon types like Steve Lynch.

  6. 12:09, 6:40 & 8:52 -

I don't think we need to politicize this and blame anybody.

If you're vaccinated, you're safe. If you're not, you go out at you're own risk. No person can know another person's medical history and make what should be a personal decision on the vaccine for them.

If you're vaccinated and still don't feel safe going out, stay in.

It's really not complicated, and those trying to blame certain groups (any group) for political gain are among the lowest forms of life on the planet.

  7. How close are we to herd immunity, which would include vaxxed and previously infected? Something doesn't make sense in the numbers when you consider how many were infected. At any rate, let the screwy antivaxxers get the Delta variant and the problem will solve itself organically. It's Darwinian, but everybody had a shot at a free shot. Time to move on.

  8. Bernie, you also decline to publish well cited opinions that differ from your own.

What did yo find in error in the analysis of demographic / clinical breakdowns other than that they demonstrated facts that make you uncomfortable as a COVID fetishist?

Please publish it and point out whatever you find to be in error along with what you believe to be corrections and citations as to those corrections' sources...

  9. Apparently you don't publish well-cited commentary that goes against your mythical narrative.

In the post showing Census and CDC data, what did you find to be in error?

Or was the problem that nothing was in error?

  10. I am tired of hearing about the people who didn't get vaccinated. If they are that dumb not to get vaccinated then let them take the risk of being 6 feet under. I just saw some lady in Alabama on TV crying about her 19 year old daughter who is now on life support and neither one got vaccinated because they thought it was a "political thing and a hoax". How damn stupid can you be? I hate to say it, but this might be a good way to "thin the heard" of all the really dumb people in this country. Don't get vaccinated if you don't want to .....just don't go on TV and cry about it when someone you love passes from it!

  11. Here's the problem with your logic 3:16, we would all be free to go out if 75% or more were vaxxed. You are damning us to this ridiculous situation for the foreseeable future with your love of "choice". The Delta variant is just the latest mutation and more will keep coming if we don't get vaxxed up. The U.S. has the chance to be number one and lead in something truly positive. Let's get on with it!

  12. 9:10, you are not being published bc you supply no links at all that I can check. I refuse to allow this venue to be used to spew disinformation that can kill people. If you do provide links I will check them.

  15. 1. Go here: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm
    2. Scroll down a bit to the spreadsheet "Sex and Age"
    3. Add up the column "All Deaths Involving COVID-19" for the five under 65 demographics
    4. You'll see it totals 124,396 deaths
    5. Go here: https://www.census.gov/data/tables/2019/demo/age-and-sex/2019-age-sex-composition.html
    6. Select "Population by Age and Sex: 2019" (The last full-up Census Table)
    7. Add up the under 65 age categories
    8. You'll see it comes to 271,569,000
    9. Calculate the chance of dying of COVID for the demographic: 124,395 / 271,569,000 = 0.0004
    10. Calculate the chance of *not* dying of COVID for the demographic: 1 - 0.0004 * 100 = 99.95%

You can see why educated, intelligent Americans have little patience for ignorant, scientifically illiterate COVID fetishist intruding into our lives, right?

  16. In today's The Morning Call is a report that Allentown School District has decided to have a universal mask mandate. A district staff person indicated that "low vaccination rates among students and staff supported the recommendation". There have been ample opportunities for eligible staff (those medically able to get vaccine) to get vaccinations. Northampton County and Lehigh County have offered so many opportunities to get the vaccine. It is ridiculous that eligible staff would choose not to get vaccinated. They are placing our children at risk to develop COVID and increase the opportunity of variants that can survive in immune systems. Children may take it to their families and many folks in our community are dealing with health problems that affect their ability to develop robust immune systems. I support the universal mask mandate at this time which also includes an opt out if "people prove they are vaccinated." Enforcement will be a problem. I support the universal mask recommendation of Academy of Pediatrics.

  17. Should we treat Covid carrying and transferring people like it was done with HIV. If you are a carrier of COVID and transfer the illness to someone else you are then held punishable under the HIV laws as well as if you transfer it to someone else and they die without taking proper precautions you many be held accountable for homicide.

To look at it another way for those that believe in self protection. IF you are out there without the vaccine or a mask when mandated and breathe on me do I have the right to pull out my gun a put a bullet in you because I feel you are threatening me or potentially looking to do harm to me through transfer of COVID?

  18. 4:28, There are several problems with your argument or your smear on those who take Covid seriously as Covid fetishists (can't believe I still need to argue this point).

First, you are making a statistical argument based on data that changes constantly as variants to the virus appear. The Alpha variant (UK) is twice as contagious as the original virus. The Delta variant (India) is twice as contagious as the Alpha variant and also appears to be more virulent among those who are younger. The data has not caught up with the Delta variant, which is now the dominant variant here in the US. https://www.yalemedicine.org/news/2019-novel-coronavirus#:~:text=COVID%2D19%20also%20has,the%20virus%20to%20others.

Second, you are ignoring the CDC's own caveat to make your statistical (not scientific) argument. The CDC warns, "Due to delayed reporting of death certificates, this count is incomplete and less than counts from other sources besides NCHS."

Third, no one disputes that Covid is less deadly in the younger populations. But it's certainly deadly to the people who've died. Moreover, asympotomatic people in the younger populations can still infect and kill those in the older populations, even those who've been vaccinated. A study in Israel indicates that the Pfizer vaccine has been less effective against the Delta variant, although it still is 93% effective at preventing serious illness and death. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israel-sees-drop-pfizer-vaccine-protection-against-infections-still-strong-2021-07-05/

Fourth, speaking of statistics, life expectancy here in the US dropped by 1.5 years in 2020, its biggest drop in the past ten years. This is mostly the result of Covid. https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/07/21/1018590263/u-s-life-expectancy-fell-1-5-years-2020-biggest-drop-since-ww-ii-covid

You are not arguing science. You are spinning numbers to justify conclusions you've already reached. You can't even ID yourself and want to be taken seriously. I do take you seriously as someone who is dangerous and who spreads misinformation.
