According to Time, studies show that the Covid-19 outbreak and lockdowns have led to a pandemic of domestic violence. It cites studies showing spikes in three cities: San Antonio (18%), Portland (22%); and NYC (10%). But is this really true?
In the year since the pandemic hit NorCo, there have been 1,189 Protection From Abuse cases. The office has certainly been busy. But in the year before Covid-19 reared its ugly head, there were 1,266 Protection From Abuse cases. There were actually 77 more cases in the March '19 to March '20 time period.
This could mean there is actually less abuse. But as someone in the PFA office told me, it could also mean that the victims are trapped and feel they have no way out.

I don't believe you can infer from two data points that there is less domestic violence taking place, but I commend you for asking if there is a pattern. It is more complicated than that, and one example is as that person told you.
I think a lot of people were under the assumption the government was closed. Our county leaders were in hiding. It's understandable that people thought they were closed.
What COVID pandemic?
In all of Lehigh County's approximately 350,000 population, Coroner and CDC data shows that we have only about 20 COVID deaths among otherwise healthy, working-age people. That's hardly a pandemic by any rational definition. Dick Levine's Nursing Home Holocaust is, of course, another matter entirely.
We would do well to be more precise in our language. If there has been a spike in domestic violence, it may be due to the lockdown hoax, but it certainly has nothing to do with the-pandemic-that-wasn't.

"Definition of pandemic (Entry 1 of 2)
1: occurring over a wide geographic area (such as multiple countries or continents) and typically affecting a significant proportion of the population"

Negative, Mass. rated 12th in gun related killings , read FBI report , this is not true Bernie.
I wasn’t able to file for that PFA until I was ready to get out, and that simple step took me years economically to pull off. During pandemic times, I would venture many are trapped and can’t get the help they need. I used to sneak out and attend counseling at Turning Point while I was still with him, and they helped me so much. Under these lockdowns, I could have never done that! How many families are stuck like I was?? It is so much worse now, guaranteed!
